geodon starting dose

I'm starting Geodon this week. I've been told it's more sedating than the Risperdal that I was on so I've been advised to take it at night. Anyone have any experiences with Geodon?

My main issue was the binge eating at night when i was on geodon and seroquel. Ive been on geodon for 10 years and eventually was On such a low dose 40 mg that I just quit cold turkey. I did up my seroquel to 400 mg to eliminate the withdrawls. (im quite the pharmacist) I have actually been loosing weight rapidly. So glad I found the right cocktail! i'm 29 its about damn time!!

Some people can build up a tolerance to certain medications or even all of them, I know one person for example who builds up a tolerance no matter what they are on. I was on the highest dose of Geodon for example for a day and it kept starting to wear off and I had to be increased until I got to the highest dose there. The current medications also can't fix all symptoms a person experiences like Geodon only made the frequency of my paranoia go away but not the severity as another example.

I was put on geodon after risperdal too. The risperdal was causing weight gain that I was not comfortable with. The geodon has worked fine although I am now weaning off it too. At first I was taking 160mg a day. Now I'm down to 60mg a day. I'm starting to go down a little lately but I don't know if it's from the decreased dose of geodon or not. I'm weaning off of all my meds right now.

That works for me. When I had to switch morning dose to that. I delayed the morning dose to evening time, as dr. instructed, I never had a problem with constipation on Geodon, but that is me. I don't really take a massive amount of fibers, just the recommended amount on average of fruits, vegetables and high fiber grains. but I also walk alot, and drink 6 to 8 glasses of water or more if I sweat alot. I eat meat, btw, also.

She was trying to taper me off of the Risperdal and starting the Geodon but due to financial reasons I hadn't been taking any of my medication for about 3 months (during which time I didn't really have any major episodes, just a little bit of hypomania at one point).

My son has taken antipsychotics for 8 months. Seems as if hallucinations have become a problem since starting Geodon. Would like more information about this has happening to others.

120mg of Geodon is a high dose to start out with, very high. I started on a low dose and worked my way up. However, Geodon caused me panic attacks so I switched to Lamictil. It caused me suicidal ideations and migranes. Now I am just on Wellbutrin and Abilify. They work wonders for me, great combo. So, how come you are on so much meds? Depakote and Risperdone are very corrective for BP so why is he slapping you onto Geodon too??

My 37-yr-old daughter (adopted) was diagnosed with bipolar disorder in her teens. She’s been on psychotropic medications for over 20 years now (starting with Stelazine, has also taken several other psychotropic medications, and finally has been on Geodon for the past 5 years). This year she developed tardive dyskinesia of the jaw/mouth and also respiratory dyskinesia. Her neurologist wants her to get off the Geodon and onto Clozaril.

I am on the lowest dose of geodon, but I am worried about taking more because it gave me body aches, and I had to start taking cogentin again, and if I take more of the geodon it might increase my chances of getting more yucky side effects. I feel like I am stuck between a rock and a hard place, lol.

i read on the geodon thats got me all messed up..he prescribed me a lager dose then i would have thought..60 mgs anight for 2 weeks then 120 mgs the same..tell me about the heart abnormalities from this geodon that a possible effect of arrhythmias..this can be fatel....when i took serquil 2 yrs had to stop it for tachycardia....so yes im suppose to be taking this tuseday night.came here to get some facts..or someone to explain these effects to me.. I CANT WAITE ANY LONGER..

At what point to decide to go back on my original dose of Geodon or should I stick it out in the hopes that the anxiety passes?

Has anyone had akasthesia while on Geodon? I've felt very restless lately, and I've had a hard tiime sitting still. My doctor lowered my dose, and hopefully that will help. In the meantime, I'm struggling with this problem.

Why would I have dry skin on my bottom eye lids that cleared up entirely while I was on the highest dose of Geodon but then it came back after I was taken off of that? That makes no sense to me.

The ONLY time I feel stable is about 45 minutes to an hour after I take the Lamictal at night. When I get up in the morning, I am confused, tired (exhausted), paranoid, racing thoughts, severe anxiety, naseous (I have lost over 50 pounds in six months (a lot because I can't eat during the day). The loss of appetite is about the same time that I took Geodon. I'm now off of Geodon. The symptoms haven't improved. I really haven't felt well for about a year.

I diagnosed me with Rapid Cycling Bipolar, and Anxiety with dilusions. He put me on Geodon. What side effects should I expect? Tonight I felt dizzy, blurring vision, and sleepiness.

Since starting to take Geodon 7 months ago I feel absolutely worse. I am very depressed, extremely self conscious, paranoid at times and my self esteem is at an all time low. I never in my life experienced this degree of depression. Is it possible that Geodon is causing these problems.

my daughter has been on geodon for a year now. She is now going to wean herself off of it. reducing the dose each week. can anyone tell me what they went through and what to look for??

This is a question with your post asking about the difference between Sinus Tachycardia and SVT in mind, All of your tests showed normal heart and Sinus Tachycardia. Did you start the beta blocker, Metoprolol, when you started showinf withdrawal symptoms from Geodon? Normally, people don't get metoprolol for just having Sinus Tachycardia and everything else is fine. It also sounds like there is anxiety involved?

He wants to move me up to 40. does this anxiety stop any time soon. i take litmical(sp) to 200mg.

We weaned off the risperdal and I started geodon about 10 days ago, real low dose 20mg. I was okay for a bit,,,of course I'd been okay while I was off everything too until I wasn't. (Kind of like it always rains after a dry spell, being okay till you weren't anymore) So anyway I started the geodon. A few days into it, my wife asked me if I was okay. I was a little talky,,not sleeping much yada yada. Then today I got depressed and was hiding from everyone in my closet.

I am currently on 40mg of lexapro and my therapist prescribed 80mg of geodon once a day. I took the geodon one night and the next am I was extremely sedated. I had blurred vision, slurred speech and I felt like my body had lead in it and it was hard to move. I stopped taking it and after a week I still feel spacey and have some tingling in my hands and feet. Could I be having these feeling because I had such a strong reaction to the med? I am afraid these symptoms are permanent.

I then took Seroquel for several years and my weight stayed stable, but still overweight 60 lbs. I then took Geodon (Zeldox) and within a year I had lost 30 lbs without changing anything in my diet or exercise. For the first 10 months I felt great. I had so much more energy, I felt like I was coming out of a long period of being a zombie. Unfortunately I had to stop Geodon because it started causing anxiety.

i was just put back on geodon wednesday. i was on it once before, but only for about 3 days. i had to stop taking it bc my second son had jus been born and it made me so sleepy and it was so hard to wake me up. well when i went to the dr wednesday, she wanted to try it again. she said the first week being on it is bad, and if i can get through that first week things will prolly get better. does anyone know if that is true? i'm taking 120 mg a night.

I was going to take the Lamictal with the Geodon, and and only take the Geodon long enough to get me to the theraputic dose of lamictal. However, the Geodon made me really hyper and irritable (at only 20 mg), and gave me a ravenous appetite. So now I'm trying a very small dose of seroquel with the Lamictal. And yes, the dr. I'm seeing is a psychatrist who specialises in eating disorders. I love my family doc.

I have a multitude of health issues, but I wont post them today!! I was prescribed Geodon 80 mg. today by my Psychiatrist. Ive tried everything out there (some with horrible side effects) so she wants me to try this now. the question I have is this.....I have never had the racing thoughts, the "highs" of bipolar--those symptoms have never been a part of my problem. I have extremely low, lows. I have the black cloud of doom looming over my head all the time...

i felt mild but manageable chills on 20 mg geodon, 4 mg perphenazine, then my psychiatrist let me take zero mg geodon and 4 mg perphenazine. upon one day of taking zero mg geodon and 4 mg perphenazine i felt terrible chills up my spine. so i started taking 20 mg's geodon again. that didnt help, still the chills. so on the same day i took another 20 mg geodon, still the same chills.

Yeah benzo withdrawal has to be done especially carefully because it can possibly kill a person. A psychiatrist on youtube taught me this in one of his educational and/or amusing videos and my own therapy team at PACT is always impressed by how much I know when I bring up stuff like this and can have a competent conversation with them on their own job material but of course I don't know EVERYTHING and far from it, no one does.
