geodon

Avatar n tn Was this dosage too high in the first place since he did not start me off on the recommended dosage of 20mg twice a day? will I be able to detox myself and have all of these symtoms go away?
Avatar m tn but i keep getting a notice that all the questions that can be asked for the day have been used, that no more questions addressed to this doctor can be asked for that particular day. what do i do? i need to ask him about medication-related chills or sensations of cold that i want to cease.
1354001 tn?1281392593 i was just put back on geodon wednesday. i was on it once before, but only for about 3 days. i had to stop taking it bc my second son had jus been born and it made me so sleepy and it was so hard to wake me up. well when i went to the dr wednesday, she wanted to try it again. she said the first week being on it is bad, and if i can get through that first week things will prolly get better. does anyone know if that is true? i'm taking 120 mg a night.
Avatar n tn Geodon was a horrible drug for withdrawals..... She should NOT stop cold turkey, but under the guidance of a pdoc slowly taper down... I was only on it for about 2 weeks and it as one of the worst experiences I've ever gone through....
Avatar f tn My son, 21, has been on Zyprexa for 6 months after presenting with a psychotic episode. His psychiatrist recommended a switch from Zyprexa to Zeldox fearing the deveopment of metabolic syndrome. He has now moved and is looking for a new psychiatrist which will take some time before the first appointment. What dosage of Zeldox would be equivalent to 10 mg daily of Zyprexa? What side effects can be expected during the switch from Zyprexa to Zeldox?
Avatar m tn these are the medications that i take now.....150 milligrams of trazadone at bedtime, 120 milligrams of geodon at bedtime, 1milligram 3 times a day of lorazapam and 150 milligrams of wellbutrin 2 times a day.
202665 tn?1248806733 s right about all of that. On geodon some days my vision was blurrier than other days but I also have astigmatism so my vision is randomly blurry anyway. After coming off geodon and switching to another med, my double vision came back and hasn't remitted yet but now I have glasses so I'm hoping it's just caused from eye strain from having double vision and far sightedness and not using glasses all these years.
192368 tn?1224204130 I have a multitude of health issues, but I wont post them today!! I was prescribed Geodon 80 mg. today by my Psychiatrist. Ive tried everything out there (some with horrible side effects) so she wants me to try this now. the question I have is this.....I have never had the racing thoughts, the "highs" of bipolar--those symptoms have never been a part of my problem. I have extremely low, lows. I have the black cloud of doom looming over my head all the time...
Avatar f tn The only thing Geodon did for me when I withdrew from it was give me violent hallucinations which landed me in the hospital. I was extremely skinny anyway because I'm on Topamax for alcohol abstinence; my dosage was increased; lost a little more which came back when I was put on Seroquel. Anyway, depending on what you were on the Geodon for, ask your doctor about going on Topamax. Weight loss is a side effect.
Avatar f tn Has anyone had akasthesia while on Geodon? I've felt very restless lately, and I've had a hard tiime sitting still. My doctor lowered my dose, and hopefully that will help. In the meantime, I'm struggling with this problem.
Avatar f tn I take Geodon however I have never been prescribed seroquel. I was never told that Geodon would help me lose weight but I have heard that it has a chance of lower weight gain than other medications. I have been on Geodon for about 4 years. I like it for the most part other than I keep having bladder infections and I have been told that Geodon could be the culprit. I wish you the best on your med transitions.
585414 tn?1288941302 One time I took my Geodon when I was taking that and its sedation kicked in too late for some reason and I fell asleep for six hours at work. Of course you can't do that at a normal job and I wasn't able to do that constantly even at that job but uh I don't know where I was going with this actually. Huh. I guess the moral of the story is you need to compensate and I guess do what you're doing that works best.
Avatar n tn i have chills right now too, i used to have them as bad as you, chills and shaking, when i took a high dosage of perphenazine, and at a different time when i had a urinary infection. many psychiatric meds have chills as side effects. until recently i was taking 20 mg geodon and 4 mg perphenazine and had mild chills.
Avatar n tn Is Geodon at a small dosage (20mg) safe for an individual with no history of health problems? My doctor put me on this and I think it is really helping, but after reading all of the scary side effects I am reluctant to continue. Thank you.
Avatar n tn Today is my fifth day on Geodon and I have been doing massive research on it to find out as much as I can about its pharmacology and effects. My question is: if Geodon causes constipation, will taking a stool softener decrease its absorption? Also: I understand it must be taken with food, what fiber/fat gram goal should be met before taking it?
Avatar n tn Hes putting me on geodon to try and get me off zyprexa and to see if i get better sleep. I am on 30 mg of zyprexa right now and life has been better, cause at one time i was on 40 mg. With all the medications I am on I still don't sleep that well. We both think I'm over medicated. The doctor says that I need to calm down and relax and wait for them to work and then he will start to slowly reduce my amounts and how much medications i am on. the objective right now is to fisrt stablize me.
Avatar f tn She’s been on psychotropic medications for over 20 years now (starting with Stelazine, has also taken several other psychotropic medications, and finally has been on Geodon for the past 5 years). This year she developed tardive dyskinesia of the jaw/mouth and also respiratory dyskinesia. Her neurologist wants her to get off the Geodon and onto Clozaril. Her psychiatrist has been slowly weaning her off the Geodon and slowly increasing the Clozaril.
Avatar m tn I've been on Geodon for 18 months and Remeron for 6 months. They stabalized my anxiety, but have bad motivation and gave me a flat personality. I successfully weaned off Remeron without any problems. I started to taper Geodon from 60mg to 40mg and got really bad anxiety. Is this my anxiety returning or is this withdrawal? I've had the anxiety for about 5 days now.
Avatar f tn my psychiatrist allowed me to reduce dosage from 20 mg geodon (ziprasidone) and 4 mg perphenazine to zero milligrams geodon and 4 mg perphenazine. i took zero mg geodon and 4 mg perphenazine for just one day and have terrible chills up my back.
518117 tn?1429276273 Lithium can cause tremors depending on dosage. That may get better in time. Haldol is a typical (old line antipsychotic) that will generally cause temporary movement disorders. Tradazone might cause this. It depends on what it is used for. If its being used as a sleep aide, Rozerem is an FDA approved medication that is safe and non addictive and works like melatonin to adjust the sleep cycle. You might ask the psychiatrist about that.
Avatar f tn I was given the choice between Geodon and abilify, and went with Geodon based mostly on cost. Good luck with your med change. I wish you the best!
Avatar f tn t seem concerned) tapering off of Geodon. I seem to feel dizzy, confused, sedated, have blurred vision, have anxiety attacks, just overall crummy. I think it's the Geodon that I went on a few months ago after Abilify didn't work so well. Is anyone having any issues with taking Geodon? Such as side effects or positive effects. Also, if you have tapered off, how long did the withdrawals (and what were they) from tapering?
663901 tn?1232649671 after that particular experience he recommended me on an increased Seroquel dosage (about 300 vs. the 200 i currently take), and I was resistant... the 200 treats the symptoms, but it goes against the feeling I have of the "less is more" mentality. I just hope the new pdoc is more understanding and willing to work with me on lowering the dose to see if it's just as effective..... sigh.....
Avatar n tn So many people ask about others' combinations of medication. It means NOTHING. Different people have different responses. What does it matter what someone else took. Just follow your doctor's recommendations and report any side effects if necessary.
Avatar m tn It kind of confuses me especially now that you say that because I was diagnosed with schizophrenia in the end. At one point they had me taking the entire highest recommended daily dose of Geodon all at once and I hear you're only supposed to take the highest recommended daily dose in two doses and not one.
735919 tn?1236444549 thank you for the info on Lamictal, but does anyone take Geodon? I take 40mg Geodon and Lamictal. I do feel so much better, but i was wondering more about the Geodon side effects. I feel alittle more anixous im wondering if it is the Geodon.
Avatar m tn So I'm taking 40mg of Geodon for bipolar, though no psychotic symptoms. Now I know bipolar alone should deter me from taking mushrooms, and honestly I'm sure it will. And I know mixing recreational drugs with psychatric meds is a bad idea. Nevertheess, I have a question concerning the interaction between Geodon and psilocybin. From what I've read, psilocybin is an agonist to the 5HT2 serotonin receptor, which I assume means that it increases serotonin.
Avatar n tn I have been on Wellbutrin off and on for 10 years, on Cymbalta for 4-5 years and Geodon for 4 years. I have been on Geodon 40 mg at times, but recently for the last year or so, on 20 mg. Recently, my psychiatrist bumped me up to 40 mg again. It seems like the last time I was on 40 mg, I also had anxiety and obsessive thoughts. I was just wondering if anyone else had the same experience with Geodon, since that is the only thing that has changed recently.
