Avatar m tn It also slightly increases the QTc interval in some patients and increases the risk of a potentially lethal type of heart arrythmia known as torsades de pointes. Ziprasidone should be used cautiously in patients taking other medications likely to interact with ziprasidone or increase the QTc interval.
Avatar f tn Hi, I'm concerned about my ecg results. It foung long qt interval at 448/488. My doctor said not to worry as I was little anxious at the time and this is normal. I am currently taking zoloft 100mg and suffer moderate panic attacks occasionally. Thanks for any advice!
Avatar f tn 39:30 PM. Maximum QTc interval was 642 ms during the monitored period, occurring at 3:39:30 PM. Minimum QT interval was 302 ms during the monitored period, occurring at 4:24:00 PM. Minimum QTc interval was 380 ms during the monitored period, occurring at 11:24:00 PM. The percent of average QTc greater than 450 ms was 14%.
Avatar n tn There are a number of things that could cause the QTc interval to be too long. (QTc just means QT interval corrected for HR, with the point of reference being 60BPM). In your case 404ms at 78BPM corresponds to 460ms if your heart was beating 60BPM. It is the QTc, not the QT that is important. Certain genetic mutations that affect the potassium or sodium ion channels could cause this problem. That is what happens in Long QT Syndrome. However, this does not seem to be likely in your case.
Avatar n tn So the variable QTc interval in the first 3 days of life does not mean much, UNLESS there is a family history of prolonged QT syndrome. If there is no family history of sudden cardiac death in young people or people who needed defibrillators inserted, or a known family history of prolonged QTc, it sounds like your child's 3 ECGs are normal variants. If the heart rate has completely normalized, and all the rest is negative, then there is no strong indication to do anything.
Avatar f tn The doctors took an ECG which showed a prolonged QT interval. The QTC was 536 ms (supposed to be below 460) but the doctors said that its nothing to worry about an to continue with exercise. An echocardiogram showed trace mitral valve regurgitation but apparently thats also harmless. However, now I still get a racing heart with any exertion (174 bmp walking up 3 flights of stairs, 120 bpm walking around the house). My resting heart rate is 65-69 bmp.
Avatar n tn I am a 48 year old female and was diagnosed with Atrial tachycardia in January 2011. I had an EPS study with ablation done due to frequent PVC's that I was having when my TSH level was supressed (dx thryoid cancer in Jan 2010 with TT in Feb 2010). Ablation had to be aborted after five hours due to fact that arrhythmia is in a spot (His bundle) that when ablation was attempted, I was at risk of AV Node block, thus possibly requiring a pacemaker.
Avatar n tn If I understand correctly, QTc intervals of less than 440 ms are considered to be normal, whereas QTc intervals of 440 ms to 460 ms in men and 440 ms to 470 ms in women are considered borderline. A couple of days ago I had an ECG. My QT/QTc was 412/447 ms at a heart rate of 71 bpm. Is this something to worry about (long QT syndrome)? I've been suffering from PVCs every day for over a year, but my heart should be structurally fine according to an echocardiogram.
Avatar n tn The first EKG showed a QTc of 485 (0 days old), the second (1 day old) showed a QTc of 449, and the third (2 days old) showed a QTc of 459. The notes say the first EKG shows a prolonged QT interval and the notes from the second day say, "EKG shows QTC still prolonged" and the third note says his EKG is normal???? Why is 459 normal when it is longer than 449 which was considered prolonged? Is the range for a 1 day old baby different from that of a two day old?
Avatar f tn Borderline prolonged QT interval = Your heart will "recharge" slightly slower than normal. Normal QT time in females is less than 0,460 seconds. Too low blood calcium can cause prolonged QT interval. Have you measured your calcium with blood tests? Could there be a reason for low calcium? It's very important that you get this investigated.
Avatar m tn So..... Several things can cause a prolongation of the QTc interval, measurement of the QTc can be very difficult and thr values are not always accurate, and your value of 440 ms is not in a concerning range. Do follow up with your doctor if you are concerned.
Avatar n tn I have a baby girl about 3 months of age who was born premature at 33 weeks gestation. We spent the first weeks of her life at our local NICU were they also did an ECG at 3 weeks of age. They told me her Qtc was about 470, bmp about 120.They started her on propralin and did a holter. During the holter monitoring her Qtc varied from 410 to about 480. Qtc was 410 when her heart rate was at the lowest, about 80 bmp. We continued on propralin after we got home from NICU.
Avatar m tn I wouldn't worry about this at all. Your QT time seems normal (by the way, the upper limit of normal is higher in females than males). You can't completely trust the corrected QT interval, if your heart rate is on the high side. My QTc also increase when the heart rate is higher, at 60 bpm I'm usually at 360-370 msec or so, but at 120-130 bpm it can go higher than 440 msec. It's a fairly known fact that Bazett's formula can overcorrect QT at high heart rates.
Avatar f tn Dear Scared, Anorexia nervosa causes a number of abnormal findings around the body, and that includes within the heart. The heart muscle can thin and be starved, which can decrease its function. As well, the body's electrolytes can be abnormal, which can alter the electrical conduction properties of the heart.
Avatar n tn With acquired LQTS, the QTc will return to normal once the medication prolonging the QTc interval is out if their system. Have you ever had your QTc measured? Have you discussed your concerns with your doctor? It would be very easy to determine your QTc before and after starting medications, which would tell you whether you are part of a rare, high risk group of people that should not take that medication.
Avatar n tn My Vent rate was 89 bpm RR interval was 670 ms PR Interval was 178 ms QRS Duration was 84 ms QT Interval was 346 ms QTC Interval was 396 ms QT Dispersion 18 ms P axis was 29 deg QRS Axis was 17 deg and T axis was 0 What does it all mean??
