geodon

Avatar m tn //bipolar-disorder.emedtv.com/geodon/geodon-side-effects.html From Wikipedia in relation to your question about the heart problems associated with it: "It also slightly increases the QTc interval in some patients and increases the risk of a potentially lethal type of heart arrythmia known as torsades de pointes. Ziprasidone should be used cautiously in patients taking other medications likely to interact with ziprasidone or increase the QTc interval.
Avatar n tn They started her on propralin and did a holter. During the holter monitoring her Qtc varied from 410 to about 480. Qtc was 410 when her heart rate was at the lowest, about 80 bmp. We continued on propralin after we got home from NICU. Today at 3 months of age we had an apointment at our hospital where they again took ECG that showed QTc being 450. I have the ECG infront of me that says bmp 140, QT/QTC 310/450.
Avatar n tn My holter only shows pac 7 beats and other than that is fine. My qt avg was 383 and qtc avg was 398. My QT max was 467 and QTc max was 480 msec. My percentage of QTc greater than 450 ms was 0%. The other two ekg that I was done about 4 years ago show qt 372 qtc 421 and qt 360 qtc 428. My echo is fine.
Avatar f tn If you measure your QTc during times with high heart rate without physical activity or anxiety, your QTc may prolong. What's important is that your REAL QT time, not corrected after the QTc formula, isn't above 500msec, because then (and only then) your risk of TdP increases. 95% of us have QT time at heart rate 60 of 360-440 msec (460 for women). That doesn't mean that 2,5% of us have LQTS (2,5% is above 440 and 2,5% is below 360).
Avatar f tn From what I can gather from what you posted, 3.8% of the time your daughter has a QTc greater than 450 ms and a maximum QTc of 669 ms. Based on this information, more tests might be needed. Holter monitors are not perfect and the 669 ms is very concerning BUT this could certainly be an artifact/error. Rare genetic conditions, electrolyte imbalances, and medications can cause elongation of the QTc interval.
Avatar n tn I just obtained his medical records today and im very confused. The first EKG showed a QTc of 485 (0 days old), the second (1 day old) showed a QTc of 449, and the third (2 days old) showed a QTc of 459. The notes say the first EKG shows a prolonged QT interval and the notes from the second day say, "EKG shows QTC still prolonged" and the third note says his EKG is normal???? Why is 459 normal when it is longer than 449 which was considered prolonged?
Avatar m tn I recently had a ECG that showed that I have long QTc of around 440. I've had about 20 ECG's in the past that all came up normal and no where near 440 or even above 400. Multiple stress tests, holters, and echo's come back normal as well. No one in my family has any heart problems and or has fainted. Any one have any possible reason as to why I could have developed Long QT? I should also add that I'm on 12.
Avatar f tn Besides some pvs and pacs (which The Dr said were causing my symptoms) i noticed in The report, in The QT chart, a max qt 436, max qtc 476, with heart rate 62. The % of max. Above 450 Qtc was 11.4%. When asking my gp about that he took a calculator and with The info in The chart calculated The qtc and said the report was wrong and The max qtc was 443 ( wich i have read is long -=<440 ms-) My question is, if this is posible, The report calculating it wrong. And what about The % number?

Why is 459 normal when it is longer than 449 which was considered prolonged? Is the range for a 1 day old baby different from that of a two day old?
735919 tn?1236444549 thank you for the info on Lamictal, but does anyone take Geodon? I take 40mg Geodon and Lamictal. I do feel so much better, but i was wondering more about the Geodon side effects. I feel alittle more anixous im wondering if it is the Geodon.
Avatar f tn Do you know how fast your heart rate was during the ECG? Heart rate can have a huge effect on your QTc especially if they are using the Bazett formula (the most used and least accurate formula to determine Qtc).
Avatar f tn Wore a 30 day Holter earlier this year and it was found I have intermittent episodes of Mobitz type 1 heart block and episodes of sinus arrythmia with dizziness. Was told by me EP that this nothing to worry about but my QTC was 460; follow up appointments measured it at 470, and 487. Exercise stress test showed prolongation of the QTc interval which got above 500 and also sudden drop in BP during cool down period of test.
Avatar f tn The doctors took an ECG which showed a prolonged QT interval. The QTC was 536 ms (supposed to be below 460) but the doctors said that its nothing to worry about an to continue with exercise. An echocardiogram showed trace mitral valve regurgitation but apparently thats also harmless. However, now I still get a racing heart with any exertion (174 bmp walking up 3 flights of stairs, 120 bpm walking around the house). My resting heart rate is 65-69 bmp.
Avatar n tn It was the EP dr who read the ekg while I was in his office. He requested that I wear a holter monitor for 24 hours but haven't gotten results back yet. I am assuming no news is good news. Today, I went to my cardio's office for my weekly ekg and QT / QTc intervals was within normal limits. Can QT / QTc intervals be prolonged one time and normal the next time? I have had three prolonged intervals in the past 6 months but also several normal ones.
Avatar n tn QTc is QT with the heart rate is factored in. 363/423 (normal range less than 390). A notation with that wave form states a higher than normal can be the result of electrolytic imbalance, drugs, alcohol, and ischemia. QRSD 96 rules out complete right bundle branch block (arrhythmia). Positive value is equal to greater than 120. Incomplete RBBB is equal to greater than 100 and less than 120. Axes indicate the heart is properly orientated within the chest cavity.
Avatar m tn So I'm taking 40mg of Geodon for bipolar, though no psychotic symptoms. Now I know bipolar alone should deter me from taking mushrooms, and honestly I'm sure it will. And I know mixing recreational drugs with psychatric meds is a bad idea. Nevertheess, I have a question concerning the interaction between Geodon and psilocybin. From what I've read, psilocybin is an agonist to the 5HT2 serotonin receptor, which I assume means that it increases serotonin.
Avatar f tn QT interval averaged 407 ms during the monitored period. QTc interval averaged 434 ms during the monitored period. Maximum QT interval was 506 ms during the monitored period, occurring at 3:39:30 PM. Maximum QTc interval was 642 ms during the monitored period, occurring at 3:39:30 PM. Minimum QT interval was 302 ms during the monitored period, occurring at 4:24:00 PM. Minimum QTc interval was 380 ms during the monitored period, occurring at 11:24:00 PM.
Avatar m tn Under 500 qtc and/or long qt without symptoms is no problem
Avatar n tn I have been on Wellbutrin off and on for 10 years, on Cymbalta for 4-5 years and Geodon for 4 years. I have been on Geodon 40 mg at times, but recently for the last year or so, on 20 mg. Recently, my psychiatrist bumped me up to 40 mg again. It seems like the last time I was on 40 mg, I also had anxiety and obsessive thoughts. I was just wondering if anyone else had the same experience with Geodon, since that is the only thing that has changed recently.
