Geodon once daily

Common Questions and Answers about Geodon once daily

geodon

Avatar m tn It kind of confuses me especially now that you say that because I was diagnosed with schizophrenia in the end. At one point they had me taking the entire highest recommended daily dose of Geodon all at once and I hear you're only supposed to take the highest recommended daily dose in two doses and not one.
Avatar m tn I'm starting Geodon this week. I've been told it's more sedating than the Risperdal that I was on so I've been advised to take it at night. Anyone have any experiences with Geodon?
915369 tn?1355314810 I don't understand why they have you on multiple antipsychotics at once... that's just asking for trouble. I think it is bad to take the daily dose of a drug all at once because then it hits you all at once instead of being spread out over the course of the day.
Avatar m tn i felt mild but manageable chills on 20 mg geodon, 4 mg perphenazine, then my psychiatrist let me take zero mg geodon and 4 mg perphenazine. upon one day of taking zero mg geodon and 4 mg perphenazine i felt terrible chills up my spine. so i started taking 20 mg's geodon again. that didnt help, still the chills. so on the same day i took another 20 mg geodon, still the same chills.
1354001 tn?1281392593 i was just put back on geodon wednesday. i was on it once before, but only for about 3 days. i had to stop taking it bc my second son had jus been born and it made me so sleepy and it was so hard to wake me up. well when i went to the dr wednesday, she wanted to try it again. she said the first week being on it is bad, and if i can get through that first week things will prolly get better. does anyone know if that is true? i'm taking 120 mg a night.
Avatar m tn My question is about withdrawing from psychiatric medications. I was on 1200 mg of trileptal twice daily and 160 mg of geodon nightly. I withdrew of off the trileptal first and the geodon second. As i started withdrawing off of the trileptal i started to feel numb in my head. It is now about nine months later and the same annoying feeling is still there. My question is if withdrawing from the medication in the way i did was the cause of this numbness.
Avatar n tn Geodon was a horrible drug for withdrawals..... She should NOT stop cold turkey, but under the guidance of a pdoc slowly taper down... I was only on it for about 2 weeks and it as one of the worst experiences I've ever gone through....
Avatar n tn I have been taking wellbutrin xl 300mg for 2 years now with Geodon 40mg x2 daily. Doc replaced the geodon with abilify 15mg a week ago and I have great energy. Im afraid I will gain weight rather than lose, but I am more active so I have hope I will lose more weight ( 30 yr old female 190 lbs. 5'5) Should I keep my hopes up to lose weight or is it to soon to say?
Avatar f tn Has anyone had akasthesia while on Geodon? I've felt very restless lately, and I've had a hard tiime sitting still. My doctor lowered my dose, and hopefully that will help. In the meantime, I'm struggling with this problem.
Avatar m tn That actually appears to be one side effect of Geodon but given that all (current) antipsychotics have anti-cholinergic side effects that could happen with any antipsychotic and given that people react differently to each one perhaps it was the medication you were transferred to rather than the Geodon helping it as Geodon is less likely to cause anti-cholinergic effects than some other antipsychotics.
Avatar n tn I went a few months without any medication, before receiving a prescription for Geodon. GEODON IS A TERRIBLE DRUG. I took 20 mg a day for four days, and during those four days (and for several days after) I experienced lightheadedness/feeling faint, headache, nausea, loss of appetite, akathesia, irregular/rapid heart beat, racing thoughts, EXTREME anxiety, insomnia, and flu like symtoms. All of these were so debilitating, it was difficult for me to even get up and walk around.
Avatar f tn The only thing Geodon did for me when I withdrew from it was give me violent hallucinations which landed me in the hospital. I was extremely skinny anyway because I'm on Topamax for alcohol abstinence; my dosage was increased; lost a little more which came back when I was put on Seroquel. Anyway, depending on what you were on the Geodon for, ask your doctor about going on Topamax. Weight loss is a side effect.
Avatar m tn However, long after stopping Geodon, I still am having heart issues. Two weeks after stopping Geodon, I went to the ER once more since then for high heart rate (170 BPM). Now, a month and a half later, my heart rate is STILL having issues. It has gotten 100-120 several times when I was stressed out and only through calming myself was I able to get it down. How long am I going to have heart issues? Why am I still experiencing heart issues after stopping Geodon?
Avatar f tn I am currently on 40mg of lexapro and my therapist prescribed 80mg of geodon once a day. I took the geodon one night and the next am I was extremely sedated. I had blurred vision, slurred speech and I felt like my body had lead in it and it was hard to move. I stopped taking it and after a week I still feel spacey and have some tingling in my hands and feet. Could I be having these feeling because I had such a strong reaction to the med? I am afraid these symptoms are permanent.
602865 tn?1239906277 I have been taking Lithium for almost 3 years now and it has helped me so much, but I feel the effects are not as helpful as they once were. My psych. added Geodon to the mix and I had a horrible experience! I was crying one minute and angry the next. I hadn't self-injured for a long time and I did last week. I called my Dr. and told him I was not going to take this medication anymore. It took approximately 3 days for it to get out of my system and I feel MUCH better.
Avatar n tn Hes putting me on geodon to try and get me off zyprexa and to see if i get better sleep. I am on 30 mg of zyprexa right now and life has been better, cause at one time i was on 40 mg. With all the medications I am on I still don't sleep that well. We both think I'm over medicated. The doctor says that I need to calm down and relax and wait for them to work and then he will start to slowly reduce my amounts and how much medications i am on. the objective right now is to fisrt stablize me.
Avatar f tn that makes me wonder because they had me taking the whole dose all at once, once a day and I was taking the (160mg) highest recommended daily dose and they were telling me this was a small dose. I'm not taking it anymore because I experienced chest pains of a kind I'd never experienced before taking it like someone was trying to pull my heart in two separate directions.
Avatar f tn She’s been on psychotropic medications for over 20 years now (starting with Stelazine, has also taken several other psychotropic medications, and finally has been on Geodon for the past 5 years). This year she developed tardive dyskinesia of the jaw/mouth and also respiratory dyskinesia. Her neurologist wants her to get off the Geodon and onto Clozaril. Her psychiatrist has been slowly weaning her off the Geodon and slowly increasing the Clozaril.
Avatar f tn Hi everyone. I was originally placed on atenolol 50mg once daily for hyperthyroidism associated tachycardia but was found to have an arrythmia so while my thyroid is normal now, I am staying on the atenolol but have decreased the dose to 25mg daily.
Avatar f tn I was on Geodon for a year or so. Geodon can actually make you sleepy. When I got off it, I did so gradually and had no problems at all with withdrawl. I was fine. I am now back on it probably long term because i'm BP1 with psychotic features and the only thing that seems to work without massive side effects is Geodon. I works for me. 4 days is not a long time. I was on Paxil for a short time and I ended up in the hospital with manic psychosis.
735919 tn?1236444549 thank you for the info on Lamictal, but does anyone take Geodon? I take 40mg Geodon and Lamictal. I do feel so much better, but i was wondering more about the Geodon side effects. I feel alittle more anixous im wondering if it is the Geodon.
Avatar f tn I take Geodon however I have never been prescribed seroquel. I was never told that Geodon would help me lose weight but I have heard that it has a chance of lower weight gain than other medications. I have been on Geodon for about 4 years. I like it for the most part other than I keep having bladder infections and I have been told that Geodon could be the culprit. I wish you the best on your med transitions.
1202354 tn?1267655734 I am on Topamax for my migrains and for weightloss, well I am taking Geodon as well for depression, my question is.... If I am taking geodon will the Geodon which can cause mild weight gain counter act the weight loss with the topamax??
Avatar m tn Has anyone taking Geodon ever experienced extreme pain in the jaw when biting down? I woke up with this a few days ago on the left side and it started to go away but it came back as bad as before. It hurts so much just trying to chew food. I woke up yesterday with my left arm having a similar pain in it right above the elbow when I move it in certain ways.
Avatar m tn has been taking Alprazolam 2 mg -4 times daily. She also takes Geodon 80 mg twice daily, Arimidex 1 mg daily for breast cancer, Amitza 24 mg twice daily for the constipation and an extra strength sominex nightly for insomnia. She usually only eats small amounts twice daily, a cup of activia EVERY morning and is afraid to eat any more than that because she can't pass anything but gas.
Avatar n tn I have been on zoloft at varying dosages since 2004, and since then have been on and off the drug twice. Once last summer, and once this past summer. On occasion I forget to take my tablet and until last week, no effect was felt if I immediately started back on it. Last week I forget to take it for one day and then restart. The following day I end up being one of the most unpleasant people to be around, either because I was yelling at my mother or on the floor in tears.
Avatar m tn Maybe you need to go up on the Geodon for it to actually work. The average daily dose was 60 mg twice a day for a total of 120 mg/day, which is 6 times more than what you're on right now. Also, are you taking it with food? The PI sheet says that the absorption is doubled in the presence of food. And the only info I can see on the PI sheet about titration says you can start at 40 mg 2x per day and increase it the next day to 60 mg 2x/day.
202665 tn?1248806733 I have had a lot pf psychotic symptoms along with the bipolar disorder, and the Geodon really helped keep those at bay. I had few side effects, except once in a while, I did feel kind of like a zombie. It didn't cause any weight gain, which was nice. When I did stop it, it was because I was starting to have problems with hypoglycemia (low blood sugar), and I wanted to try the non-antipsychotic approach for a while. I hope this helps!
