Geodon once a day

Common Questions and Answers about Geodon once a day

geodon

Avatar m tn I wondered because they only ever had me take the antipsychotics I've taken once a day and I always heard everyone else talk about taking them twice a day. I'm only awake 12 hours or less a day and the current one I'm on has a half life of 3 days so I guess it's kind of pointless for me to take it twice a day.
Avatar m tn s a bar that says ask a question. But all experts only take a few questions a day. As to the chills, if you think it might be withdrawal, the remedy is to up your dose to the last one at which you felt fine, and taper more slowly. If you do that and the chills go away, you'll know it's withdrawal. Keep in mind your psychiatrist might not care about or know anything about withdrawal -- many shrinks don't. If yours doesn't, find another.
Avatar n tn I was on Lamictal when I was a teen and don't remember a lot but I was also on Geodon (which I'm allergic to) and having really bad symptoms with it. So I'm not sure but I wish I could try the Lamictal again just to see if it would work.
Avatar f tn I am currently on 40mg of lexapro and my therapist prescribed 80mg of geodon once a day. I took the geodon one night and the next am I was extremely sedated. I had blurred vision, slurred speech and I felt like my body had lead in it and it was hard to move. I stopped taking it and after a week I still feel spacey and have some tingling in my hands and feet. Could I be having these feeling because I had such a strong reaction to the med? I am afraid these symptoms are permanent.
Avatar f tn My main issue was the binge eating at night when i was on geodon and seroquel. Ive been on geodon for 10 years and eventually was On such a low dose 40 mg that I just quit cold turkey. I did up my seroquel to 400 mg to eliminate the withdrawls. (im quite the pharmacist) I have actually been loosing weight rapidly. So glad I found the right cocktail! i'm 29 its about damn time!!
1354001 tn?1281392593 i was just put back on geodon wednesday. i was on it once before, but only for about 3 days. i had to stop taking it bc my second son had jus been born and it made me so sleepy and it was so hard to wake me up. well when i went to the dr wednesday, she wanted to try it again. she said the first week being on it is bad, and if i can get through that first week things will prolly get better. does anyone know if that is true? i'm taking 120 mg a night.
Avatar m tn This is a question with your post asking about the difference between Sinus Tachycardia and SVT in mind, All of your tests showed normal heart and Sinus Tachycardia. Did you start the beta blocker, Metoprolol, when you started showinf withdrawal symptoms from Geodon? Normally, people don't get metoprolol for just having Sinus Tachycardia and everything else is fine. It also sounds like there is anxiety involved?
Avatar n tn I also increased the Geodon to 40 mg a day for the depression and am experiencing worse anxiety and obsessive thoughts, which I haven't had since the last time I was on 40 mg of Geodon. I can't find anything on the web that connects obsessiveness with Geodon. All of this is under my psychiatrist's guidance and he does not know why I'm experiencing this. Can you help?
Avatar n tn i was on zero mg geodon/4 mg perphenazine for just one day and started getting chills. and when i took the 20 mg geodon back again with the 4 mg perphenzine i still had chills. now i am taking geodon 20 mg and will start taking zero mg perphenazine. since i already tried reducing the geodon and staying with the perphenazine and experienced chills, me and my psychiatrist decided i should stay with the geodon and stop taking the perphenazine.
Avatar m tn Wow a side effect that is actually beneficial for once. Thanks, I never would of thought of it as being a side effect.
Avatar n tn Hes putting me on geodon to try and get me off zyprexa and to see if i get better sleep. I am on 30 mg of zyprexa right now and life has been better, cause at one time i was on 40 mg. With all the medications I am on I still don't sleep that well. We both think I'm over medicated. The doctor says that I need to calm down and relax and wait for them to work and then he will start to slowly reduce my amounts and how much medications i am on. the objective right now is to fisrt stablize me.
Avatar f tn ( rapid weight gain Being wean off geodon from 80 twice a day now 40 twice a day. If I stop taking geodon will I be able to lose weight? Do serequel cause weight gain? (200 at bed time) It sure helps me sleep.Dr will replace geodon with Lamictal and tompamax. Thanks for any feed back.
202665 tn?1248806733 I have had a lot pf psychotic symptoms along with the bipolar disorder, and the Geodon really helped keep those at bay. I had few side effects, except once in a while, I did feel kind of like a zombie. It didn't cause any weight gain, which was nice. When I did stop it, it was because I was starting to have problems with hypoglycemia (low blood sugar), and I wanted to try the non-antipsychotic approach for a while. I hope this helps!
915369 tn?1355314810 I think it is bad to take the daily dose of a drug all at once because then it hits you all at once instead of being spread out over the course of the day.
Avatar f tn I take Geodon however I have never been prescribed seroquel. I was never told that Geodon would help me lose weight but I have heard that it has a chance of lower weight gain than other medications. I have been on Geodon for about 4 years. I like it for the most part other than I keep having bladder infections and I have been told that Geodon could be the culprit. I wish you the best on your med transitions.
Avatar m tn I took geadone for a while and it made me like a zombie and it made my nose sooooo stuffed up. But I tried to stick with it because sometimes the side affects go away. But then I started to faint and I had to go off of it. It was very Terrible for me.
Avatar f tn I'm going thru the same thing right now. It's midnight and I can't sleep. I've gone from 80mg twice a day, to 60mg once a day over not that long a period to me anyway,,maybe I'm going a little too fast.
Avatar n tn I was put on geodon after risperdal too. The risperdal was causing weight gain that I was not comfortable with. The geodon has worked fine although I am now weaning off it too. At first I was taking 160mg a day. Now I'm down to 60mg a day. I'm starting to go down a little lately but I don't know if it's from the decreased dose of geodon or not. I'm weaning off of all my meds right now.
Avatar m tn 150 milligrams of trazadone at bedtime, 120 milligrams of geodon at bedtime, 1milligram 3 times a day of lorazapam and 150 milligrams of wellbutrin 2 times a day.
Avatar f tn that makes me wonder because they had me taking the whole dose all at once, once a day and I was taking the (160mg) highest recommended daily dose and they were telling me this was a small dose. I'm not taking it anymore because I experienced chest pains of a kind I'd never experienced before taking it like someone was trying to pull my heart in two separate directions.
602865 tn?1239906277 I have been taking Lithium for almost 3 years now and it has helped me so much, but I feel the effects are not as helpful as they once were. My psych. added Geodon to the mix and I had a horrible experience! I was crying one minute and angry the next. I hadn't self-injured for a long time and I did last week. I called my Dr. and told him I was not going to take this medication anymore. It took approximately 3 days for it to get out of my system and I feel MUCH better.
Avatar f tn ve heard from some people within my therapy group that bi polar 2 cycle more often and have more depression than mania/ hypomania which can be a big risk factor for suicide as a group member died a couple weeks ago . And this one lady spent 3 weeks in hospital with manic psychosis and she is bi polar 1 but she now has been stable for over a year .
363243 tn?1331033850 only 4, but it increased to 20 at 30 minutes and 24 at 60 minutes. I still feel sick so she decided to prescribe HC once a day for me for a replacement dose. Is this normal protocol?
497950 tn?1255863927 I am on Geodon. 120mg a day. The only side effect I have is it makes a little sleapy. A little coffee takes it away though. I have not gained any weight. It works for me along with other medications. Hope this helps.
Avatar f tn he was briefly put on meds for a few months the 1st time and this last time he was put on Geodon. Im confused, the psychiatrist that put him on the meds org said that he would probably need to take them for a year or 2...He went back to work and had to have a physical and that doctor said that people usually dont stay on geodon to long...but his after discharge psychiatrist made it sound like he was going to be on geodon forever..he has never had depression either..
735919 tn?1236444549 I take 80mg of Geodon. I have been for a long time. I really respond to it. I get tired from Geodon. So I take it at night. Other than that, I have no side effects. Same with Lamictal. I take that also. Anti-psychotics tend to be on the more sedative side. Geodon can cause mania in some people so just watch out for that. But like I said, it is usually more sedative.
Avatar f tn If it's a side effect from medication i would definitely consult your doctor about your issues before anything else. I don't recommend stopping the medication since it is an anti-psychotic and because after being on psych meds, your psychiatrist really should monitor it since he/sheknows . Please call your doctor asap and pm me if you have more symptoms.
142722 tn?1281533616 Geodon is an antipsychotic that is also used as a mood stabilizer. I'm not aware of its use for anxiety but you'd have to ask your psychiatrist more about that. It does seem that things need to be adjusted and/or changed but you'd have to speak to your psychiatrist to find out if the anxiety is just something untreated or a minor side effect of the Geodon and if it will go away in time. Think about when the anxiety started to get worse and speak to them about all this.
