Do serequel cause weight gain? (200 at bed time) It sure helps me sleep.Dr will replace geodon with Lamictal and tompamax. Thanks for any feed back.
Avatar n tn my daughter has been on geodon for a year now. She is now going to wean herself off of it. reducing the dose each week. can anyone tell me what they went through and what to look for??
Avatar f tn Has anyone had success getting off Geodon? How long does the mental withdrawl last? I've tried unsuccessfully two times. The first time I tapered off it within a week with my Psychiatrist and went through horrible physical withdrawl symptoms--painful stomach cramping, hot / cold switches and insomnia, but after two weeks, the physical symptoms subsided, but then detrimental mental lows of suicidal thinking.
Avatar n tn Geodon was a horrible drug for withdrawals..... She should NOT stop cold turkey, but under the guidance of a pdoc slowly taper down... I was only on it for about 2 weeks and it as one of the worst experiences I've ever gone through....
735919 tn?1236444549 i was on geodon and it made me manic then extremely depressed. i would feel very euphoric and then angry and then depressed. it is very sedative! i also tried lamactial, twice, and each time it gave me a horrible rash! but i hear it's the best out there. which make me sad that it didn't work for me.
Avatar f tn Just last night I began reducing my dosage of Geodon with the goal of getting off of it altogether. My doctor suggested switching to the new med Saphris but I researched it and found that it has the same type of side effects and negative long term effects as Geodon. I know that most anti-psychotics, which I only take for Bipolar II are alike. Don't want to take any but want help with my ultra-rapid mood cycling.
Avatar n tn When I saw my psychiatrist for the usual weekly appointment and told him what happened, , he said it was the Geodon and took me off of it immediately. After that, my perceptions went back to normal .
Avatar n tn Be very careful.and go back on the geodon and come off slowly tapering in half in 2 or 3 weeks. I came off in 3 days 40mg and it threw me into chronic anxiety with tremors and quivers I still have today. Don't take a chance and stay cold turkey. It causes temors and chronice insomina when you get off it after more thana week. or even less...Please beware what geodon does. It is a highly potent drug. songwriterdelta.
Avatar f tn The ONLY time I feel stable is about 45 minutes to an hour after I take the Lamictal at night. When I get up in the morning, I am confused, tired (exhausted), paranoid, racing thoughts, severe anxiety, naseous (I have lost over 50 pounds in six months (a lot because I can't eat during the day). The loss of appetite is about the same time that I took Geodon. I'm now off of Geodon. The symptoms haven't improved. I really haven't felt well for about a year.
Avatar m tn Why would I have dry skin on my bottom eye lids that cleared up entirely while I was on the highest dose of Geodon but then it came back after I was taken off of that? That makes no sense to me.
Avatar m tn 150 milligrams of trazadone at bedtime, 120 milligrams of geodon at bedtime, 1milligram 3 times a day of lorazapam and 150 milligrams of wellbutrin 2 times a day.
Avatar f tn Now that I have stopped taking Geodon, I would like to know if anyone out there has been through the same experience with weight gain AND if weight loss is a side effect of coming off of Geodon? If not, is it easier to lose weight once you are off of the medication? I have my mind back and now I want my body back! Hope to hear some good news!
Avatar n tn I have been on Wellbutrin off and on for 10 years, on Cymbalta for 4-5 years and Geodon for 4 years. I have been on Geodon 40 mg at times, but recently for the last year or so, on 20 mg. Recently, my psychiatrist bumped me up to 40 mg again. It seems like the last time I was on 40 mg, I also had anxiety and obsessive thoughts. I was just wondering if anyone else had the same experience with Geodon, since that is the only thing that has changed recently.
2010625 tn?1329372056 I was only on 20mg, lol I guess I am kind of sensitive. I went to my psychiatrist today and they took me off of the Geodon and gave me a new med called Latuda I guess it is a new drug. I have never heard of it before, but we will see how it works for me. I will be glad when these horrible body aches are gone. I have been sleeping alot the last few days I just have felt so run down from it all.
Avatar n tn Hes putting me on geodon to try and get me off zyprexa and to see if i get better sleep. I am on 30 mg of zyprexa right now and life has been better, cause at one time i was on 40 mg. With all the medications I am on I still don't sleep that well. We both think I'm over medicated. The doctor says that I need to calm down and relax and wait for them to work and then he will start to slowly reduce my amounts and how much medications i am on. the objective right now is to fisrt stablize me.
Avatar m tn I have taken Geodon before and it did not make me sedated, not sleepy at all. Everyone responds differently to meds though. If your dr says you can take it at night, that sounds like a good plan. Maybe you will be able to tell how sleepy you get and if you feel groggy in the morning, in which case taking it at night would be best.
596143 tn?1226648054 just became too scared about the effects i as having..... i was off the geodon for two full days before i saw my pdoc and the withdrawal from it was pretty intense... flu like symptoms, hot/cold chills, shaky, extreme anxiety... it was truly a nightmare.....
Avatar m tn I am tapering off Geodon right now with my doctor's instructions. I am having SEVERE anxiety and just feel awful. I am convinced that it's withdrawals. How did your situation resolve?
Avatar f tn Her neurologist wants her to get off the Geodon and onto Clozaril. Her psychiatrist has been slowly weaning her off the Geodon and slowly increasing the Clozaril. She also takes Klonopin for the jaw movements. He also added Cymbalta for depression. When she was on the Geodon, she functioned well, worked, was pretty stable and didn’t need an antidepressant. She is having a hard time with this transition (it's been a couple months now).
Avatar n tn My sister has been taking geodon for 6 months now. She is wanting to come off of the drug because it is not working any more. The drug has made her vision worse and her heart is not acting right. She is scared to stay on it. I have done some research and have found nothing good about this drug. She has all side effects. She is on day 1 with NO geodon.
202665 tn?1248806733 I was on Geodon for about 3 years. About six months of overlap with Zyprexa at the beginning - it took forever to get off of Zyprexa - and almost a year of overlap with Seroquel at the end. It was a good drug in general. I remained relatively stable the entire time I was on it, but still experienced significant sleep problems. Eventually tried Seroquel because I had already been on all of the others (I had problems with Abilify, too) and it tends to have more of a sedative effect.
Avatar m tn No twitches with the Geodon, I had tremor with other meds and they went aware. With the Geodon, I was tsken off of it abruptly too for another reason, and I honestly did not experience withdrawal, and the problem which I had developed was quickly resolved when the medication was stopped. Not same day, but over a week. I have to say i get nervous twitches when I am really, really upset and nervous, as well as tremors.
Avatar n tn I went a few months without any medication, before receiving a prescription for Geodon. GEODON IS A TERRIBLE DRUG. I took 20 mg a day for four days, and during those four days (and for several days after) I experienced lightheadedness/feeling faint, headache, nausea, loss of appetite, akathesia, irregular/rapid heart beat, racing thoughts, EXTREME anxiety, insomnia, and flu like symtoms. All of these were so debilitating, it was difficult for me to even get up and walk around.
Avatar m tn i felt mild but manageable chills on 20 mg geodon, 4 mg perphenazine, then my psychiatrist let me take zero mg geodon and 4 mg perphenazine. upon one day of taking zero mg geodon and 4 mg perphenazine i felt terrible chills up my spine. so i started taking 20 mg's geodon again. that didnt help, still the chills. so on the same day i took another 20 mg geodon, still the same chills.
1610967 tn?1314811101 Included in my regimen are Geodon and Cymbalta. I noticed when I added the Geodon, I am not as hungry and food does not always taste as good. It has improved over the course of the year, but I have other more bothersome side effects from the Geodon. It has helped me in so many ways, I stay on it. Do you have any other side effects from the Geodon?
Avatar m tn My question is about withdrawing from psychiatric medications. I was on 1200 mg of trileptal twice daily and 160 mg of geodon nightly. I withdrew of off the trileptal first and the geodon second. As i started withdrawing off of the trileptal i started to feel numb in my head. It is now about nine months later and the same annoying feeling is still there. My question is if withdrawing from the medication in the way i did was the cause of this numbness.
Avatar f tn Saw pdoc Friday and started geodon 20mg x 2 a day, total 40mg. I had a splitting headache last night. Today have been off, stomach queezy, two times the headache came up and I took acetamiaphine. Now at bedtime I am ready to get sick to my stomach and feel awful. Does it react this fast or am I starting the flu? Anyone experience this, this fast?
