I think your anxieties are running you right now. Have you talked to your psychiTrist about all your fears. We all worry about things like this. I thought anout it too, but I don't let it run me. I alway ran it by my doctor.
This is going to explain the side effects of Geodon better than I even can and I take it and experienced some of them but mostly only during the adjustment period. Side effects occur differently for each person.

Well I take 40MG of Geodon in the morning and 80MG of Geodon at night along with some other medicine due to a high level of OCD. But a while back I went cold turkey on Geodon for 2 days because I couldn't get a refill. So during those 2 days these were my main symptoms, "insomnia, shakiness, heart pounding, dizziness, vision problems".
My sister has been taking geodon for 6 months now. She is wanting to come off of the drug because it is not working any more. The drug has made her vision worse and her heart is not acting right. She is scared to stay on it. I have done some research and have found nothing good about this drug. She has all side effects. She is on day 1 with NO geodon.
I am bipolar 2 with PTSD. I was on Geodon, risperdal and lithium. The geodon was added last, and the risperdal was weaning down. I took it when it was new. For a few months, I did okay with it and didn't really have any problems. It was stopped because it eventually caused perceptual,,, especially visual, disturbances all of a sudden, and I ended up misjudging the freeway and drove my car over the embankment.
I just tapered down from Geodon and I'm completely off of it now. I was feeling panic, anxiety, depression, overall feelings of doom. My pdoc told me that he thought I was having bad side effects from the Geodon, so now I am off of it.
Right now, I am taking Lamictal 400mg per day (for bipolar 1). I still feel confused, sedated, and overall just bad. I feel like I have the flu almost. This has gone on for months and I can't seem to shake it.
soooo i switched from abilify to geodon bcuz of my weight gain does any1 take geodon??? if so how r the side effects???
s still not giving me a proper amount of sleep of which I have taken the past three nights. before i had my episode i could sleep without any problems whatsover. i feel the geodon is blocking my serotonin receptors totally as i've dropped down to 60 milligrams of geodon in hopes of normal sleep patterns to return. can the high dosage of geodon increase the chances of insomnia over time? i can't believe that an episode would cause this problem with insomnia.
According to the manufactuer many of the symtoms you are experiencing could be from the Geodon. I suggest you contact your doctor immediately and express your concerns to him/her. There are many alternatives available that do not cause these side effects and remember that everyone is different, so side effects are often different for each person.So another medication may not be as difficult for you and sometimes initial side effects fade after taking the medication for awhile. I am currently taking Geodon, Cymbalta, Lamictal and Geodon. Recently I've had times when I've seen things that weren't what they really were. I'm wondering if this is psychosis. They're not like hallucinations, just sort of like I'm in a fog, not with it. I also have trouble with my understanding when someone is saying something to me, like a delayed reaction, feeling kind of slow. I really wonder if I need both mood stablizers.
It can cause health problems, including heart problems. When I was sent to a psych ward for awhile,i was taking seroquel then and I still am..they decided one day to just take me off it and I was on 400mg of it. I got so sick, and they put me on geodon after that so ontop of it was feeling its nasty side effects ugh it was miserable! I could hardly hold my head up..but my heart was also acting funny at the time!
In the morning I take 40mg of geodon and in the night I take 80mg. But 2 days ago i couldnt get a refill so i didnt take any. So I was without until this morning. This morning when I woke up, I went to the bathroom. The freakiest withdrawal symptom happened, it felt as if I was mentally retarded, and I didn't know where I was at. Other symptoms are shakiness, heart pounding, insomnia. But the first one I've never had before and it freaked me out.
Which is worse bipolar one or two. And has anyone taken geodon. If so what side effects did you have.
Abilify is considered safer than Geodon because of the risk of heart arrythmia in Geodon. I experienced some heart palpitations on Geodon and was taken off it. Abilify has the least risk for diabetes and is considered the safest as regards tardive conditions so that's often what they consider the best option.
I remember when it was FDA approved it was under the condition that the heart arrythmia be labelled in a boxed warning but I did ask to start it and I had heart palpitations. Of course no medication should be discontinued without speaking to a psychiatrist. When I was on Geodon I was changed promptly back to Seroquel.
However, when i was a small child i had problems with pacing, sitting on the ground and pushing and rocking back and forth, and sitting on my butt and bouncing on the bed to the point that i broke beds and couches until recently. i have also had a habit of hand-clenching and have hurt my wrists several times from doing it.
I then took Seroquel for several years and my weight stayed stable, but still overweight 60 lbs. I then took Geodon (Zeldox) and within a year I had lost 30 lbs without changing anything in my diet or exercise. For the first 10 months I felt great. I had so much more energy, I felt like I was coming out of a long period of being a zombie. Unfortunately I had to stop Geodon because it started causing anxiety.
I went a few months without any medication, before receiving a prescription for Geodon. GEODON IS A TERRIBLE DRUG. I took 20 mg a day for four days, and during those four days (and for several days after) I experienced lightheadedness/feeling faint, headache, nausea, loss of appetite, akathesia, irregular/rapid heart beat, racing thoughts, EXTREME anxiety, insomnia, and flu like symtoms. All of these were so debilitating, it was difficult for me to even get up and walk around.
ve always been alittle dry due to meds. then iwas treated with Geodon which caused excess saliva to the point of nausea and vomiting. finally off of it and now my mouth is so dry-no amount of water, over the counter oral moistures, and eliminating all dry mouth causing drugs i can. taste has changed, spices i can even taste salt in my soda. roof of mouth is red, and hurts when swallowing----any ideas???
I take Geodon however I have never been prescribed seroquel. I was never told that Geodon would help me lose weight but I have heard that it has a chance of lower weight gain than other medications.
I have been on Geodon for about 4 years. I like it for the most part other than I keep having bladder infections and I have been told that Geodon could be the culprit.

My 16 yr old daughter has been on Zoloft for about 4 yrs now, she was diagnosed with bipolar last year in Feb 09 when she got baker acted and was put on abilify for 10 months. These medications did nothing for her except the abilify made her gain 40 pounds. Then she was baker acted again in Dec 09 and the Dr put her on Geodon. My first gut instinct told me not to allow her to go on this med but after talking with the Dr I agreed.
