geodon hallucinations

I am currently taking Geodon, Cymbalta, Lamictal and Geodon. Recently I've had times when I've seen things that weren't what they really were. I'm wondering if this is psychosis. They're not like hallucinations, just sort of like I'm in a fog, not with it. I also have trouble with my understanding when someone is saying something to me, like a delayed reaction, feeling kind of slow. I really wonder if I need both mood stablizers.

I diagnosed me with Rapid Cycling Bipolar, and Anxiety with dilusions. He put me on Geodon. What side effects should I expect? Tonight I felt dizzy, blurring vision, and sleepiness.

When I was on Geodon I was changed promptly back to Seroquel. Geodon, however, is less likely than other antipsychotics to cause weight gain but then again so is Abilify so you might ask about your psychiatrist about that but speak to your psychiatrist before making medication changes. I would say only a psychiatrist can diagnose psychosis. A person experiencing it can't see it in themselves and I wouldn't call it "detoxing" as its not a medication in that category.

My son has taken antipsychotics for 8 months. Seems as if hallucinations have become a problem since starting Geodon. Would like more information about this has happening to others.

I take it for psychosis as it is an antipsychotic and also an antidepressant. It has worked better than Geodon for my negative symptoms but risperdal seemed like it was going to work even better for this but unfortunately I could not handle it. Geodon treated my psychotic symptoms better however. It doesn't work as good as I'd like it to but it's better than nothing. I could not tell you how it works for depression as I am not depressed.

I went a few months without any medication, before receiving a prescription for Geodon. GEODON IS A TERRIBLE DRUG. I took 20 mg a day for four days, and during those four days (and for several days after) I experienced lightheadedness/feeling faint, headache, nausea, loss of appetite, akathesia, irregular/rapid heart beat, racing thoughts, EXTREME anxiety, insomnia, and flu like symtoms. All of these were so debilitating, it was difficult for me to even get up and walk around.

The only thing Geodon did for me when I withdrew from it was give me violent hallucinations which landed me in the hospital. I was extremely skinny anyway because I'm on Topamax for alcohol abstinence; my dosage was increased; lost a little more which came back when I was put on Seroquel. Anyway, depending on what you were on the Geodon for, ask your doctor about going on Topamax. Weight loss is a side effect.

Spouse taking Seroquel, Lithium, & Geodon. Auditory hallucinations & delusions began about a month ago with no prior history of mental illness (we've been together 14 years). He was however abusing oxycodone, oxycontin, xanax, soma, & ritalin. We took him to the ER 3 wks ago & he was put on risperdal 1mg x1 wk, then 2mg before going back to ER. With no past mental illness history & age ~40...

Been on meds for years. Without Dr. A few months sop family Dr gave me Geodon,cymbalta and Xanax till I got new Dr. New Dr put me In hospital for 3 days and took away Xanax and added vistaril 25mg 3 times day,neurontin 300mg @ bedtime,trazodone 100mg @ bedtime and up dose to 90mg cymbalta. Getting worse so saw Dr. and up dose on trazodone and vistaril. Still not better up dose on Geodon. Still worse with bad panic attacks,tardive dyskinesia, anger and rage, hot as fire most time.

Well Geodon (an antipsychotic) on higher doses made me drag my feet where I actually tripped on steps and almost broke my neck until I got used to it. This was a listed side effect however but I think it also happens for some other antipsychotics. Sometimes on Geodon I also was rather quiet (even for already not talking a lot) and subdued but this went away after stopping it.

I was on Geodon for about 3 years. About six months of overlap with Zyprexa at the beginning - it took forever to get off of Zyprexa - and almost a year of overlap with Seroquel at the end. It was a good drug in general. I remained relatively stable the entire time I was on it, but still experienced significant sleep problems. Eventually tried Seroquel because I had already been on all of the others (I had problems with Abilify, too) and it tends to have more of a sedative effect.

He prescribed me 180mg 0f Geodon and 1000mg of Depakote. After taking this a week I began having heart palpatations, swollen ankles, hallucinations right after taking them and felt sick and restless. I couldn't wake up and catch a snap until around 3pm even after drinking several cups of coffee and I fely numb like a zombie. He took me off cold turkey. I started having extreme tightness in my chest on the left side of my body along with ear pressure.

I only share basically half of your diagnosis but I am on Abilify currently for psychosis. It works better than Geodon did in different ways but worse in others but I like it better than Geodon worked for me. Namely Abilify has treated my paranoia and inability to express myself which Geodon never touched which ruined my quality of life significantly but it is not working as great for my hallucinations and things like that.

As I have been diagnosed with schizoaffective disorder which was originally thought to be schizophrenia, I experience psychosis all the time regardless of my mood so I take antipsychotics for the psychotic aspect of my illness. Geodon worked better for my positive (hallucinations, delusions, paranoia, etc.) symptoms and not so great for my negative (loss of pleasure, lack of affect, lack of motivation, etc.) symptoms. Abilify works better for my negative symptoms.

thank you for the info on Lamictal, but does anyone take Geodon? I take 40mg Geodon and Lamictal. I do feel so much better,but i was wondering more about the Geodon side effects. I feel alittle more anixous im wondering if it is the Geodon.

The reason I was dignosed is I had a psycotic break . First I could not sleep . Then started having audio hallucinations . Went straight to Doc .How put me in hospital. That is the last thing i remember . I was psycotic 10 day do not remember anything . I hear it was something ealse .Any way I was under more stress than the avarage Joe could handle . That is when I found out I'm Bipolar . I'm 43. I would get straight to PsyDoc .You do not want it any worse .Congrads on sobrity .

So I'm taking 40mg of Geodon for bipolar, though no psychotic symptoms. Now I know bipolar alone should deter me from taking mushrooms, and honestly I'm sure it will. And I know mixing recreational drugs with psychatric meds is a bad idea. Nevertheess, I have a question concerning the interaction between Geodon and psilocybin. From what I've read, psilocybin is an agonist to the 5HT2 serotonin receptor, which I assume means that it increases serotonin.

I have been on Wellbutrin off and on for 10 years, on Cymbalta for 4-5 years and Geodon for 4 years. I have been on Geodon 40 mg at times, but recently for the last year or so, on 20 mg. Recently, my psychiatrist bumped me up to 40 mg again. It seems like the last time I was on 40 mg, I also had anxiety and obsessive thoughts. I was just wondering if anyone else had the same experience with Geodon, since that is the only thing that has changed recently.

ve been feeling suicidal and a bit depressed. Has anyone else had the same experience on geodon? Is it the geodon or Just depression emerging? I really appreciate the help.

Anyone ever taken geodon with serequel?( rapid weight gain Being wean off geodon from 80 twice a day now 40 twice a day. If I stop taking geodon will I be able to lose weight? Do serequel cause weight gain? (200 at bed time) It sure helps me sleep.Dr will replace geodon with Lamictal and tompamax. Thanks for any feed back.

That actually appears to be one side effect of Geodon but given that all (current) antipsychotics have anti-cholinergic side effects that could happen with any antipsychotic and given that people react differently to each one perhaps it was the medication you were transferred to rather than the Geodon helping it as Geodon is less likely to cause anti-cholinergic effects than some other antipsychotics.

i felt mild but manageable chills on 20 mg geodon, 4 mg perphenazine, then my psychiatrist let me take zero mg geodon and 4 mg perphenazine. upon one day of taking zero mg geodon and 4 mg perphenazine i felt terrible chills up my spine. so i started taking 20 mg's geodon again. that didnt help, still the chills. so on the same day i took another 20 mg geodon, still the same chills.

150 milligrams of trazadone at bedtime, 120 milligrams of geodon at bedtime, 1milligram 3 times a day of lorazapam and 150 milligrams of wellbutrin 2 times a day.

I am bipolar 2 with PTSD. I was on Geodon, risperdal and lithium. The geodon was added last, and the risperdal was weaning down. I took it when it was new. For a few months, I did okay with it and didn't really have any problems. It was stopped because it eventually caused perceptual,,, especially visual, disturbances all of a sudden, and I ended up misjudging the freeway and drove my car over the embankment.

The ONLY time I feel stable is about 45 minutes to an hour after I take the Lamictal at night. When I get up in the morning, I am confused, tired (exhausted), paranoid, racing thoughts, severe anxiety, naseous (I have lost over 50 pounds in six months (a lot because I can't eat during the day). The loss of appetite is about the same time that I took Geodon. I'm now off of Geodon. The symptoms haven't improved. I really haven't felt well for about a year.
