Geodon half life

Common Questions and Answers about Geodon half life

geodon

202665 tn?1248806733 It depends on the half-life of the drug. One half-life means half of it is out of your systems, the second half-life means half of that half is out, and so on. It is generally accepted that after 7 half-lifes that a drug is entirely out.
Avatar f tn Well the half-life means half of it has left your system but then when the next half-life comes, half of that half is gone from your system and so on. It is generally accepted that it takes seven half-lifes for a medicine to get entirely out of your system. Perhaps you would benefit from DBT, they teach you how to not ruminate thoughts in your head and to let thoughts come and go without affecting you and such.
Avatar n tn Be very careful.and go back on the geodon and come off slowly tapering in half in 2 or 3 weeks. I came off in 3 days 40mg and it threw me into chronic anxiety with tremors and quivers I still have today. Don't take a chance and stay cold turkey. It causes temors and chronice insomina when you get off it after more thana week. or even less...Please beware what geodon does. It is a highly potent drug. songwriterdelta.
Avatar f tn I can't confirm it. I've been taking it myself but only for about half a year. Nothing like that has happened to me but like I said it's only been half a year.
Avatar m tn I was on Geodon for 2 wks about 1.5 months ago. During that time I was on the 40 MG for about 10 days and 80 MG for about 4 days. I had a slew of very bad side effects. However, I was forced to stop taking Geodon when I was rushed to the ER with a heart rate of 160 BPM. I was forced to stop Geodon cold turkey because of this and went on a Beta Blocker. Plus, I had bloodwork, CT scan of heart, numerous EKGs...all normal. However, long after stopping Geodon, I still am having heart issues.
Avatar f tn The half-life of a drug is how long it takes for half of it to be eliminated from the bloodstream. Hope that helps.
6298176 tn?1380134459 It has a very long half life, though I can't give you specifics. The dose and how long you were on it does factor in. Your doctor should be able to help you with your questions on this.
202665 tn?1248806733 I was on Geodon for about 3 years. About six months of overlap with Zyprexa at the beginning - it took forever to get off of Zyprexa - and almost a year of overlap with Seroquel at the end. It was a good drug in general. I remained relatively stable the entire time I was on it, but still experienced significant sleep problems. Eventually tried Seroquel because I had already been on all of the others (I had problems with Abilify, too) and it tends to have more of a sedative effect.
596143 tn?1226648054 I diagnosed me with Rapid Cycling Bipolar, and Anxiety with dilusions. He put me on Geodon. What side effects should I expect? Tonight I felt dizzy, blurring vision, and sleepiness.
Avatar n tn Since starting to take Geodon 7 months ago I feel absolutely worse. I am very depressed, extremely self conscious, paranoid at times and my self esteem is at an all time low. I never in my life experienced this degree of depression. Is it possible that Geodon is causing these problems.
Avatar m tn That actually appears to be one side effect of Geodon but given that all (current) antipsychotics have anti-cholinergic side effects that could happen with any antipsychotic and given that people react differently to each one perhaps it was the medication you were transferred to rather than the Geodon helping it as Geodon is less likely to cause anti-cholinergic effects than some other antipsychotics.
Avatar n tn Hes putting me on geodon to try and get me off zyprexa and to see if i get better sleep. I am on 30 mg of zyprexa right now and life has been better, cause at one time i was on 40 mg. With all the medications I am on I still don't sleep that well. We both think I'm over medicated. The doctor says that I need to calm down and relax and wait for them to work and then he will start to slowly reduce my amounts and how much medications i am on. the objective right now is to fisrt stablize me.
1255530 tn?1269867619 I only share basically half of your diagnosis but I am on Abilify currently for psychosis. It works better than Geodon did in different ways but worse in others but I like it better than Geodon worked for me. Namely Abilify has treated my paranoia and inability to express myself which Geodon never touched which ruined my quality of life significantly but it is not working as great for my hallucinations and things like that.
Avatar m tn i felt mild but manageable chills on 20 mg geodon, 4 mg perphenazine, then my psychiatrist let me take zero mg geodon and 4 mg perphenazine. upon one day of taking zero mg geodon and 4 mg perphenazine i felt terrible chills up my spine. so i started taking 20 mg's geodon again. that didnt help, still the chills. so on the same day i took another 20 mg geodon, still the same chills.
Avatar f tn As depersonalization is a departure from reality it is generally thought of as some form of psychosis (unless it occurs during anxiety attacks) so Geodon should treat it. If you did have this though it would have been there before the Geodon. You might want to discuss with your psychiatrist to see if it happpened before the Geodon and if not if they might want to try another antipsychotic as an option.
603015 tn?1329862973 s not a good idea to stop them and drink immediately after because meds can take a long time to get out of your system like Abilify for example has a half-life of 75 hours while Geodon has a ridiculous half-life of 2-5 hours for example and I think it takes 7 half-lifes for it to get entirely out! Cold turkey withdrawal symptoms can indeed be really extreme, people equate them to being the same as or even worse than the ones from coming off of hard drugs.
Avatar m tn So I've been on Divalproex & Geodon for a week and a half now. I've noticed that yes the mood stabilizer is working well since I'm not irritable or switching moods fast. The anti-psychotic seems to calm my thoughts so they aren't racing but... Now I seem to be losing interest in the things I did on a daily basis. I play a game and it's not as fun & I feel like getting away from it. I watch tv with my neighbor and it's just not catching on.
2080475 tn?1332126191 decided to quit taking it on a monday felt fine all week untill sun when i went into serious withdrawl! so as far as half life im not sure? but you can bet i was back on it mon! so i guess it was in my system for 6 days after i stopped. p.s.
Avatar f tn ?? Does anyone know the Half life of SUBOXONE - Beprenorphine.? I HEARD it was 70 hours, but that's what I heard....unsure if that is even accurate?
535882 tn?1396576685 whats the half life for syntriod. about how much time does it take to build up in you and also leave your system?
735919 tn?1236444549 thank you for the info on Lamictal, but does anyone take Geodon? I take 40mg Geodon and Lamictal. I do feel so much better, but i was wondering more about the Geodon side effects. I feel alittle more anixous im wondering if it is the Geodon.
968185 tn?1248255581 My sister has has bipolar symptoms her whole life, but has never been diagnosed. She has attempted suicide several times and been hospitalized, sometimes she is ok but her moods seem much more extreme than mine usually are and I have been diagnosed. After a time of calmness she started acting out and broke up with her bf, started drinking and partying when she had stopped drinking for a time. Her doc said she is trying to mimic my behavior, but I think this is real.
719785 tn?1232901518 I agree completely with ILADCOCATE. I have (and currently) been off and on Geodon for a long time. It is a life saver for me. But I also take other medications as well, including several mood stablizers. Lamictal is great, Lithium. Call the doc and try to demand a sooner appointment. If it takes that long to see the doc, maybe there is someone else out there. My pdoc allows me to call him anytime if something suddenly comes up.
1610967 tn?1314811101 I went to the pdoc yesterday and he decided to put me on 40mg of Geodon to help with my racing thoughts and slight paranoia, as well as my concentration problem. I wanted to take everything I said back (I was hoping he would up my lithium since my levels are low.). I am scared of this medicine and I was wondering if anyone else has taken it and how did it work/not work for you?
