My brother has been on 160mg Geodon since 2/2008. He is having severe memory problems. Is it due to Geodon? He has schizoaffective disorder. He was also put on cogentin and inderal.

Since starting to take Geodon 7 months ago I feel absolutely worse. I am very depressed, extremely self conscious, paranoid at times and my self esteem is at an all time low. I never in my life experienced this degree of depression. Is it possible that Geodon is causing these problems.

I was on Geodon for about 3 years. About six months of overlap with Zyprexa at the beginning - it took forever to get off of Zyprexa - and almost a year of overlap with Seroquel at the end. It was a good drug in general. I remained relatively stable the entire time I was on it, but still experienced significant sleep problems. Eventually tried Seroquel because I had already been on all of the others (I had problems with Abilify, too) and it tends to have more of a sedative effect.

Like Lexapro, only recently did a generic form of the med become available, so you may even have to call around to different pharmacies to find one that has it. Contact your local county. There will be mental health help available, This may take several phone calls to get started, to find the right people. Look at your Rx bottles, find the manufacturers names, and contact them. All manufacturers have programs in place to help people who are finding it difficult to afford their meds.

I went a few months without any medication, before receiving a prescription for Geodon. GEODON IS A TERRIBLE DRUG. I took 20 mg a day for four days, and during those four days (and for several days after) I experienced lightheadedness/feeling faint, headache, nausea, loss of appetite, akathesia, irregular/rapid heart beat, racing thoughts, EXTREME anxiety, insomnia, and flu like symtoms. All of these were so debilitating, it was difficult for me to even get up and walk around.

Best to describe your symptoms in detail to your psychiatrist and ask about available options as regards medications and perhaps they can change and/or adjust them.

The generic brands that are readily available in india & vietnam are not as readily available in Nigeria where i live and if available at all, the price will be suffocate an average patient. Somebody mentioned that a weekly dose costs about N96000($600/week) and for a total course of 96 weeks, the cumulative cost will be unbearable for many Can i get it cheaper at your end.

the generic in india is absolutely the same as brands, it is just cheap and easy chemicals.....so easy to do.

Risperdal and Abilify are also available in rapid dissolve format and Abilify has less of a potential of weight gain although each person responds differently to each medication. The mood stabilizer Lamictal is available in rapid dissolve format as well. However only a psychiatrist could determine what medication could be used in this capacity but you could ask your psychiatrist about available options.

I use the generic for everything, when available. There is no difference that I can see.

I bit the bullet and decided to start my Zyprexa last night, OMG I wish I hadn't. I'm only on a very low start dose of 2.5mg but I had the following side effects: Tingling of mouth and tongue, dry tongue but watering mouth, runny nose and a feeling as though my throat was closing, weakness of legs and weird breathing - breathing was really slow. This morning my tongue is still tingly and my throat is swollen.

I only share basically half of your diagnosis but I am on Abilify currently for psychosis. It works better than Geodon did in different ways but worse in others but I like it better than Geodon worked for me. Namely Abilify has treated my paranoia and inability to express myself which Geodon never touched which ruined my quality of life significantly but it is not working as great for my hallucinations and things like that.

If it available to buy from Egypt, India ect ect, for 1500 and less. Why don't more people take advantage of it ? Or is there more to it that I haven't learned?

it is a wrong name for drugs just to make more money for the first drug maker who did the drug generic is the same drug made from another drug maker, this is why the name generic is very wrong, generic sounds like the drug is different but only drug maker is different.

This drug is still available as a generic, it looks like the price of the drug has increased due to higher cost for Walgreens to purchase it. I'm afraid the other drugs available for BPH will probably be as or more expensive than Doxazosin, but I would check with your local Walgreens pharmacist for more price options.
