Avatar m tn but i keep getting a notice that all the questions that can be asked for the day have been used, that no more questions addressed to this doctor can be asked for that particular day. what do i do? i need to ask him about medication-related chills or sensations of cold that i want to cease.
Avatar m tn for me geodon was awful, i got really depressed on it. I know it depends on a person. so you can try it and see how it affects you.

192368 tn?1224204130 I have only read that Geodon is great for schizophrenia, and those other symptoms. Will it work for me and bring me out of this blue funk Ive been in for months? Im really concerned. Any input is great! thanks!
Avatar m tn I cannot conceive of the Army knowing about his condition - Geodon is used for acute mania treatment and schizophrenia so its not just an MS - its a rather serious drug with some rather nasty side effects. I am baffled as to how your son thinks he is going to get into the army - he will need to pass a full medical and they are going pick it up - god hopes they do because I personally would not want to be within a mile of a psychotic manic soldier with an automatic rifle.
Avatar f tn i take geodon for schizophrenia trazadone is an anti-depressant i take zoloft which is a lot weaker i also have PTSD from the military and i was in combat when i served in the USAF :)
Avatar n tn Abilify (aripipazole) is indicated for the treatment of schizophrenia. The efficacy of Abilify in the treatment of schizophrenia was established in short-term (4- and 6-week) controlled trials of schizophrenic inpatients. The long-term efficacy of aripiprazole in the treatment of schizophrenia has not been established. The physician who elects to use Abilify for extended periods should periodically reevaluate the long-term usefulness of the drug for the individual patient.
1322915 tn?1301611249 s good i see a psychiatrist once a month for schizophrenia and PTSD i also have tardive dyskinesia from taking geodon :)
2010625 tn?1329372056 Last I read Geodon can send a patient into mania if they have the potential for that, even though it can be used to treat mania. The side effects should subside after a few weeks.
675718 tn?1530033033 I am going to see a Psyciatrist for schizophrenia at the VA ( Veteran's Affairs) like I, there are many veterans who attend appt.s not enough doctors to handle this work load. this is the earliest i can see him.
Avatar m tn i take geodon for schizophrenia i never heard of it being for anxiety it is true that you need the doctor's word when you taper off these pills.
1106568 tn?1258137285 So I have been diagnosed with schizophrenia anxiety disorder and PTSD among other issues lol, but I was wondering... I am usually pretty fine during the day, but at nighttime things get really bad for me. I have a history of sexual abuse so I was wondering if this was PTSD... At nightime I hear voices (which is the schizo), but I also feel as if people are taking advantage of me...
Avatar n tn I now have a great nurse pratitioner that pulled me off of the junk and put me on the right combo for my mixed state BP and it is only two drugs!! Lithium for my mania and Wellbutrin for my depression, simple and it is working great! good luck!
Avatar n tn you need to speak to your psychiatrist or a doctor - none of us can answer you on ths subject and the reccomended dose is not 20mg twice a day its actually 20mb BID with food up to 80mg a day for schizophrenia and up to 120mg a day for bipolar as per guidelines of manufacturer but larger doses are used depending on psychosis.
Avatar f tn The use of b vitamins for schizophrenia is part of orthomolecular psychiatry which was found to be clinically inconclusive. However I take glycine (which is an amino acid in Phase II FDA study as an adjunct antipsychotic) as part of a controlled study. For more information google "Dr. Javitt, glycine".
Avatar f tn i have PTSD from combat and i take zoloft for this and i suffer from flashbacks and nightmares i also have schizophrenia and tardive dyskinesia i take geodon and congentin for this.
Avatar f tn As I have been diagnosed with schizoaffective disorder which was originally thought to be schizophrenia, I experience psychosis all the time regardless of my mood so I take antipsychotics for the psychotic aspect of my illness. Geodon worked better for my positive (hallucinations, delusions, paranoia, etc.) symptoms and not so great for my negative (loss of pleasure, lack of affect, lack of motivation, etc.) symptoms. Abilify works better for my negative symptoms.
Avatar f tn t taken an antipsychotic all these years though I wish they had caught up with the tardive in time before it progressed this far. But with new treatments in the works for schizophrenia such as the glutamate antagonists (of which I'm on glycine as a study compound and fully recovered) hopefully people with schizophrenia won't get it anymore after they become medications. And right now I'm recovering well with the rhodiola as I've mentioned as well as the Tizanidine.
Avatar f tn I would add that when I was on Geodon as was required to start the medication I had to get an EKG and I did have heart palpatations from it after a while. That can be one side effect of Geodon (generally not other antipsychotics). You might want to ask your psychiatrist to have your regular doctor do a check up (including an EKG) which is good for anyone taking medications (myself included).
Avatar f tn From what I know Abilify and Geodon are weight neutral medications.
585414 tn?1288941302 s response rates to different antipsychotics varies so this would be yet another option if people have not responded to what is available now that you could speak to your psychiatrist about it. It is FDA approved for both schizophrenia and bipolar.
8798274 tn?1399988458 I took Zyprexa for 6 months but since I began experiencing some side effects I suddenly stopped taking the drug (no weaning off). When I stopped the medication, I started with serious problems (a lot of crying, anxiety, panic attack and sleep problems). I did not sleep for 3 days, then I slept like for three days. I do not feel tired anymore, I do not get that sleepy tired feeling. I have tried many meds to help me to sleep (trazodone, klonopin, Geodon..) nothing help.
735919 tn?1236444549 thank you for the info on Lamictal, but does anyone take Geodon? I take 40mg Geodon and Lamictal. I do feel so much better, but i was wondering more about the Geodon side effects. I feel alittle more anixous im wondering if it is the Geodon.
Avatar n tn But the seroquel he was given a script for when leaving the hospital and he kept having signs of drug induced schizophrenia.
Avatar m tn So I'm taking 40mg of Geodon for bipolar, though no psychotic symptoms. Now I know bipolar alone should deter me from taking mushrooms, and honestly I'm sure it will. And I know mixing recreational drugs with psychatric meds is a bad idea. Nevertheess, I have a question concerning the interaction between Geodon and psilocybin. From what I've read, psilocybin is an agonist to the 5HT2 serotonin receptor, which I assume means that it increases serotonin.
Avatar n tn I have been on Wellbutrin off and on for 10 years, on Cymbalta for 4-5 years and Geodon for 4 years. I have been on Geodon 40 mg at times, but recently for the last year or so, on 20 mg. Recently, my psychiatrist bumped me up to 40 mg again. It seems like the last time I was on 40 mg, I also had anxiety and obsessive thoughts. I was just wondering if anyone else had the same experience with Geodon, since that is the only thing that has changed recently.
