Avatar m tn these are the medications that i take now.....150 milligrams of trazadone at bedtime, 120 milligrams of geodon at bedtime, 1milligram 3 times a day of lorazapam and 150 milligrams of wellbutrin 2 times a day.
Avatar f tn So, My daughter has bipolar, we've tried a few medications. Abilify caused massive wieght gain - so we've switched to Geodon. She's been taking the Geodon for over a yr now and we've had this problem that I can't seem to change with anyother variable.... thus I'm asking if anyone else has this issue with Geodon.
Avatar n tn How long have you been on the Geodon? My daughter has been on for about a week and her OCD symptoms have not gotten any better. How long did it take for the Geodon work on your OCD?
Avatar n tn Well I take 40MG of Geodon in the morning and 80MG of Geodon at night along with some other medicine due to a high level of OCD. But a while back I went cold turkey on Geodon for 2 days because I couldn't get a refill. So during those 2 days these were my main symptoms, "insomnia, shakiness, heart pounding, dizziness, vision problems".
Avatar n tn I have now completely weaned myself off of Geodon, I am having terrible withdrawal symptoms such as shaking and shaky hands insomnia nausea light headed confusion, any info on it, will this go away?
Avatar m tn Thanks for responding dear friend. It was my first experience with an antipsychotic and it terrified me.My Pdoc started me on this risperdal for a questionable hypomanic episode and it almost ruined my life.Thankfully I reduced it myself to 0.5mg from 3mg in two months and will be off it in 3 days.I feel my energy levels are better and I feel better now.Stay off Risperidone,it is awful.
Avatar n tn I went a few months without any medication, before receiving a prescription for Geodon. GEODON IS A TERRIBLE DRUG. I took 20 mg a day for four days, and during those four days (and for several days after) I experienced lightheadedness/feeling faint, headache, nausea, loss of appetite, akathesia, irregular/rapid heart beat, racing thoughts, EXTREME anxiety, insomnia, and flu like symtoms. All of these were so debilitating, it was difficult for me to even get up and walk around.
Avatar f tn I have been in a hypomanic state for about 3 weeks now. Even though I take Restoril 30 mg, Lunesta 3 mg, and Clonipin 2mg at bedtime, I'm still up all night or in and out of bed all night except for about 3 hrs of sleep. Then I'm exhausted in the morning and make the mistake of napping for 3-4 hrs which my shrink says I shouldnt do. This has been going on too long. I have only had about 3 nights of 6-7 hrs sleep since Halloween and I dont know what to do.
Avatar n tn I was in a psych unit for 12 days for no reason. I was only taking this high dosage for only twelve days until I started detoxing myself before I saw the therapist who told me I did not fit the symptoms of Psychosis. My question to you is since this medication has only been in my system for only 12 days will my insomnia go away? The heart palpitations have already minimized and the Hallucinations are gone but I still get body movements and am going on my second day of no sleep.
Avatar m tn The childrens hospital ER doctor could not admit her because of how violent she was and the mobile psychiatric crisis team could not place her because 4 years old is the minimum age limit for short term psychiatric hospitalization so she was sedated using Geodon (bipolar/schizophrenic medication) and Ativan (benzodiazipene). She was sent home with a prescription for Geodon at 10mgs (20mg capsule with administration of half of the contents) twice daily.
Avatar n tn Well I can say for myself that I'd be concerned taking more than one anti-psychotic at a time. That's how I developed severe tardive dyskinesia to begin with which the rate of developing it as my psychopharmocologist stated "with typicals 5% per person per year and atypical antipsychotics 2.5% per person per year". Every antipsychotic you are one are atypical antipsychotics but I would see no reason you should be on more than one.
Avatar f tn I have been severely emotionally, psychologically and verbally abused by my family of origin, doctors, employers, friends, neighbours, strangers and others and have suffered from anxiety/panic attacks, chronic insomnia, muscle tension, adrenaline surges, spaced out feelings, lack of concentration, avoidance behaviours and thoughts of suicide. The insomnia is so bad I get about 3 hours sleep a week and sometimes less than that.
1610967 tn?1314811101 I took Geodon at one point in time for the psychotic symptoms associated with the diagnosis of schizoaffective disorder. It worked pretty decently in some ways where other medications don't work so great but then the other medications work better in the ways it doesn't work so great.
8798274 tn?1399988458 s usually for psychiatric indications instead of just insomnia. Also, the higher dose has not been shown to be more effective for insomnia. Also, this medication should not be used for more than 1 month. Medications, however, are not the ideal choice of treatment for insomnia anyway. You can consult a sleep specialist to help with your insomnia. Regards.
1255530 tn?1269867619 anyhow any suggestions on what worked for anyone else after having bad side effects. I need something for mania, insomnia panic and anxiety attacks. Side effects of amilify where as follows Hard time breathing, hyperventilating, feeling sick in respiratory, slight swelling of tongue, fast heartbeat, restless, dizzy, speech changes, tremors and shacking, eyes feel like there rolling in back of head, seeing spots when closing eyes for bed, insomnia, Mania returned in two days, agitation.
Avatar f tn I take Trazodone for sleep. It is an older antidepressant with hypnotic components. The nice thing is it is cheap and works well. I take 50mg an hour before bedtime. Wellbutrin can be stimulating. Lamictal can be mildly sedating.I forget which topomax is. I was only on it for a few months. Made me stupid.
Avatar f tn I am going through the same thing you are right now, also on Zeldox (Geodon in US), and Cipralex for depression. If you just started on the Seroquel, its going to take some time for your body to adjust to the new med., so insomnia is part of the side effects. I am lucky in the fact that I am not working right now because of my disease, and the advice my doctor gave me was to "go with the flow", sleep when you are tired.
735919 tn?1236444549 thank you for the info on Lamictal, but does anyone take Geodon? I take 40mg Geodon and Lamictal. I do feel so much better, but i was wondering more about the Geodon side effects. I feel alittle more anixous im wondering if it is the Geodon.
Avatar m tn So I'm taking 40mg of Geodon for bipolar, though no psychotic symptoms. Now I know bipolar alone should deter me from taking mushrooms, and honestly I'm sure it will. And I know mixing recreational drugs with psychatric meds is a bad idea. Nevertheess, I have a question concerning the interaction between Geodon and psilocybin. From what I've read, psilocybin is an agonist to the 5HT2 serotonin receptor, which I assume means that it increases serotonin.
Avatar n tn I have been on Wellbutrin off and on for 10 years, on Cymbalta for 4-5 years and Geodon for 4 years. I have been on Geodon 40 mg at times, but recently for the last year or so, on 20 mg. Recently, my psychiatrist bumped me up to 40 mg again. It seems like the last time I was on 40 mg, I also had anxiety and obsessive thoughts. I was just wondering if anyone else had the same experience with Geodon, since that is the only thing that has changed recently.
Avatar f tn I didn't gain weight from Geodon but I sure did from Abilify.
776302 tn?1241091853 Thank you so much for the very helpful post. I have taken Depakote and Seroquel before. The seroquel was prescribed for my insomnia and depakote for my migraines. I didn't take the depakote long enough though. I'm still a little confused on the hypomanic phases because I'm not sure when I'm in one. I do get to where I'm very talkative and won't shut up.
Avatar m tn That actually appears to be one side effect of Geodon but given that all (current) antipsychotics have anti-cholinergic side effects that could happen with any antipsychotic and given that people react differently to each one perhaps it was the medication you were transferred to rather than the Geodon helping it as Geodon is less likely to cause anti-cholinergic effects than some other antipsychotics.
Avatar f tn My main issue was the binge eating at night when i was on geodon and seroquel. Ive been on geodon for 10 years and eventually was On such a low dose 40 mg that I just quit cold turkey. I did up my seroquel to 400 mg to eliminate the withdrawls. (im quite the pharmacist) I have actually been loosing weight rapidly. So glad I found the right cocktail! i'm 29 its about damn time!!
Avatar m tn but i keep getting a notice that all the questions that can be asked for the day have been used, that no more questions addressed to this doctor can be asked for that particular day. what do i do? i need to ask him about medication-related chills or sensations of cold that i want to cease.
Avatar n tn Geodon works great for some people and horribly for others, like any psych med on the planet. It is less likely to make you gain weight compared to others in the same class, and may be less sedating, but you'll really have no idea how it will work for you until you try it. I think it's also the least likely to cause metabolic problems out of the atypical antipsychotics, but any of them can potentially do that.
Avatar m tn has been taking Alprazolam 2 mg -4 times daily. She also takes Geodon 80 mg twice daily, Arimidex 1 mg daily for breast cancer, Amitza 24 mg twice daily for the constipation and an extra strength sominex nightly for insomnia. She usually only eats small amounts twice daily, a cup of activia EVERY morning and is afraid to eat any more than that because she can't pass anything but gas.
Avatar f tn I have been on a combo of lithium and geodon now for the good part of ten years, and a high dose of neurontin was added a while back to treat mania, anxiety and fibromyalgia. I just dealt with a severe case of cycling for almost ten months, and this good set of meds could not effectively end my acute mania. I ended up getting the Abilify shot, followed by a few days of a high dose of Seroquel, then I resumed on the above mentioned cocktail of lithium 900 mg, geodon 240 mg, neurotin 1600 mg.
