Geodon fda indications

Common Questions and Answers about Geodon fda indications

geodon

Avatar m tn I don't have Bipolar 1 but Geodon helps my depression for sure along with of course my psychosis since it's an atypical antipsychotic. It's FDA approved to treat Bipolar mania and my therapist told me even though it's not FDA approved to treat depression it still has a mood stabilizing effect. It might not be working right for you as medications work differently for everyone.
Avatar m tn Lens implants are only "FDA-approved" for cataract patients; however doctors are not legally restricted to using them only for cataract patients. It is the doctor's perogative to use them strictly for refractive purposes as they see fit, so it would be totally between you and the doctor. Be aware of all the risks, however. They are significantly greater than cornea-based refractive surgery.
Avatar m tn 150 milligrams of trazadone at bedtime, 120 milligrams of geodon at bedtime, 1milligram 3 times a day of lorazapam and 150 milligrams of wellbutrin 2 times a day.
Avatar n tn My brother has been on 160mg Geodon since 2/2008. He is having severe memory problems. Is it due to Geodon? He has schizoaffective disorder. He was also put on cogentin and inderal.
Avatar n tn When I was on Geodon I was changed promptly back to Seroquel. Geodon, however, is less likely than other antipsychotics to cause weight gain but then again so is Abilify so you might ask about your psychiatrist about that but speak to your psychiatrist before making medication changes. I would say only a psychiatrist can diagnose psychosis. A person experiencing it can't see it in themselves and I wouldn't call it "detoxing" as its not a medication in that category.
719785 tn?1232901518 Mood Disorder NOS(not otherwise specified) His dr put him on Geodon 40mg twice a day. He started this med on Tues. was discharged from hospital on Sat. He is still very depressed, anxious, having like panic attacks etc. Does anyone know if this is "normal" or what. I am trying to get his follow up with therapist moved up because it isn't until 3/31 and he doesn't see dr. until 4/6 I feel this is way too long to wait.
Avatar f tn It is often activating though so if you have that problem you could ask your psychiatrist if you could take it in the morning. Along with Abilify and Geodon, Fanapt and Saphris are two new FDA approved antipsychotics (approved for bipolar as well) that have less of a potential for weight gain. See what happens and keep informed and discuss available options with your psychiatrist.
Avatar f tn The only thing Geodon did for me when I withdrew from it was give me violent hallucinations which landed me in the hospital. I was extremely skinny anyway because I'm on Topamax for alcohol abstinence; my dosage was increased; lost a little more which came back when I was put on Seroquel. Anyway, depending on what you were on the Geodon for, ask your doctor about going on Topamax. Weight loss is a side effect.
440120 tn?1211724496 They also have far more of a mood stabilization effect and have been specifically FDA approved for this purpose. I did have some difficulty on Abilify with it being activating (that is causing difficulty sleeping, unlike other antipsychotics which are often sedating) and this is not uncommon but each person responds differently to each medication and many people I know have found it to be of help as well.
Avatar m tn Well my medication is going to have to be changed because of the reaction I had to it when it was increased and I didn't gain any weight on Geodon so I was wondering what other antipsychotics have a low chance of causing weight gain like Geodon because I used to be fat and got picked on a lot for it and don't want to go through that again.
202665 tn?1248806733 I was on Geodon for about 3 years. About six months of overlap with Zyprexa at the beginning - it took forever to get off of Zyprexa - and almost a year of overlap with Seroquel at the end. It was a good drug in general. I remained relatively stable the entire time I was on it, but still experienced significant sleep problems. Eventually tried Seroquel because I had already been on all of the others (I had problems with Abilify, too) and it tends to have more of a sedative effect.
Avatar n tn Hes putting me on geodon to try and get me off zyprexa and to see if i get better sleep. I am on 30 mg of zyprexa right now and life has been better, cause at one time i was on 40 mg. With all the medications I am on I still don't sleep that well. We both think I'm over medicated. The doctor says that I need to calm down and relax and wait for them to work and then he will start to slowly reduce my amounts and how much medications i am on. the objective right now is to fisrt stablize me.
Avatar f tn It said it detects the antibodies in the blood and that it is FDA Approved. So will the results to this test be accurate? The risk of unprotected sex was about two years ago. Also when I got mono last year my doctor did an oral swab test... But i'm not sure if she was just doing it to detect mono or if she was seeing if there were any indications of HIV but she came to me and said she was going to do a blood culture and then she confirmed it was mono.
Avatar f tn hey i take geodon to 80mg/2xday great stuff i responded well to it :)
Avatar n tn My son is 21 and was given geodon 40 mg an xanax he has had two seizures before starting these meds.I love my doctor but just want 2 and opinion and what I should watch out for?
Avatar m tn That is a very complicated question. If you visit the FDA site they have information on what are called "elective replacement indications", as well as full discussions on the various reasons for ,pacemaker failure. They also have detailed physician's manuals on various models of Pacemaker.
Avatar f tn I am a GP ( family doctor) in the Uk been advised by my oncologist to start either one of these drugs. I saw a paper from canada9 funded by novartis suggesting the femara have shown better survival figures than tamoxifen. Is femara better than arimedex? have you seen this paper.
Avatar m tn s supposed to have sedative properties and such but I became immune to sedation from Geodon that knocks you out and so far none of the other antipsychotics I tried sedate me that much either although they're supposed to generally but they all have a different propensity for sedating a person. It might also take some time to take effect in your body.
8798274 tn?1399988458 I have tried many meds to help me to sleep (trazodone, klonopin, Geodon..) nothing help. Now I am sleeping 2-3 hours a night with the help of gabapentin, but I do not feel tired, I DO NOT GET SLEEPY. Please help, I have been in this situation for almost a year. Can the damage done by the drug be permanent? Should I see a neurologist?
518117 tn?1429276273 Tradazone might cause this. It depends on what it is used for. If its being used as a sleep aide, Rozerem is an FDA approved medication that is safe and non addictive and works like melatonin to adjust the sleep cycle. You might ask the psychiatrist about that. As for mood stabilizers, some people are able to tolerate lithium. Some people can't. I was unable to myself and found Lamictal more tolerable but lithium remains the most effective mood stabilizer in general.
Avatar n tn One week ago a psychiatrist put me on 300mg Lamictal pm (without titration), 20mg Geodon pm, 1mg Intuniv pm, 10mg Ambien pm, 15mg Focalin am, and 40mg Vyvanse am for ADHD and bipolar. Prior this regimen I wasn't on any medications. Today I had to call an amulance as my resting pulse shot up to 140bpm and my blood pressure went up to 166/90. I thought I was going to die. As well, my lymph nodes are swollen and a bleeding rash has started to form on my hand.
233488 tn?1310693103 http://jetrea.com/ This is a BIG deal in ophthalmology. This medication (I have no commercial financial interest in it) is injected into the eye and often releases traction of the vitreous on the retina. While the FDA approved in for very limited indications (as is their want 'slow and years behind the rest of the world") it appears to help a variety of conditions such as macular holes, macular membranes.
Avatar n tn I was diagnosed with a hiatal hernia during my hospital stay with no indications of any bleeding causing the anemia. Could the daily use of Prilosec be my problem?
Avatar m tn my 52 year old niece took geodon for 11 months and the doctor even trippled the dosage while never seeing her- only talking to the doctor through her assistant- she has been left with severe headpronation(backward?
5028514 tn?1366828456 Benadryl is in the FDA pregnancy category B. This means that it is not expected to be harmful to an unborn baby. Do not take Benadryl without first talking to your doctor if you are pregnant. Infants are especially sensitive to the effects of antihistamines, and side effects could occur in a breast-feeding baby. Avatar f tn I take geodon and celexa. My acupuncturist thinks I should also take St. John's Wort. I take the celexa early in the morning. He suggested I take the St. John's Wort in the afternoon. I'm afraid that might be too much serotonin for me. What do you think?
