My sister has been taking geodon for 6 months now. She is wanting to come off of the drug because it is not working any more. The drug has made her vision worse and her heart is not acting right. She is scared to stay on it. I have done some research and have found nothing good about this drug. She has all side effects. She is on day 1 with NO geodon.

Anyone ever taken geodon with serequel?( rapid weight gain Being wean off geodon from 80 twice a day now 40 twice a day. If I stop taking geodon will I be able to lose weight? Since starting to take Geodon 7 months ago I feel absolutely worse. I am very depressed, extremely self conscious, paranoid at times and my self esteem is at an all time low. I never in my life experienced this degree of depression. Is it possible that Geodon is causing these problems.

I was on Geodon after Abilify made me gain weight. The Geodon , for me, didn't work for bipolar symptoms but I am a diificult case. Abilify was the only med that worked. However, I did loose weight on Geodon and for the 2st couple weeks had an usdet stomach. If this drug works for you, and you know it's trial error for us anyway, I think you'll be please with the lack of side effects. I didn't even know I was on it after a week.

What are you being treated for? Wellbutrin is for depression, not anxiety, it is stimulating; cymbalta can be stimulating because it not only targets serotonin but also norepinephrine; and geodon is for bipolar. You're on a fourth drug, ativan, which is strictly for anxiety, and you're taking tyrosine, which is also for depression, not anxiety; the amino acid for anxiety would be taurine. So again, what are you treating primarily?

aripripazole (abilify) and ziprasidone (geodon) are 2 other atypical antipsychotics like your olanzapine (zyprexa). nobody neither your pdoc can tell their effect on you, it's all trial and error everybody manifests different effect and side effect. he/she only prescribed them to you because they don't make you put on weight gain contrary to zyprexa, that's all.

You need to speak to your psychiatrist - this is the FIRST thing you should have done when the side effects started and no doubt he told you that - you must speak to doctors when you get side effects from any drug, its on every drug information sheet.

Found my records of my medications going back to 2002 of every drug I have taken since then. Taking to pdoc today. Seems the geodon, seroquell and depakote were my best combination from the hospital pdoc in 05. Wierd because lithium and geodon were not a good mix and left me further in the hole. Won't give you the recipe in open forum. Have to go get ready to go to psych. Better than two weeks ago but still in the hole. Hope your skin remains without dryness.

Geodon was a horrible drug for withdrawals..... She should NOT stop cold turkey, but under the guidance of a pdoc slowly taper down... I was only on it for about 2 weeks and it as one of the worst experiences I've ever gone through....

I was on Geodon for about 3 years. About six months of overlap with Zyprexa at the beginning - it took forever to get off of Zyprexa - and almost a year of overlap with Seroquel at the end. It was a good drug in general. I remained relatively stable the entire time I was on it, but still experienced significant sleep problems. Eventually tried Seroquel because I had already been on all of the others (I had problems with Abilify, too) and it tends to have more of a sedative effect.

My doctor started me on a trial of Geodon about two weeks ago. At first, felt okay and saw some positive things about the drug. Then the negative side effects began emerging and I wound up in ER last Sat. My doctor had told me I could stop the drug if I didnt like it. The ER wasnt sure what to tell me to do. They left it up to me. So, I stopped it. They gave me Ativan to calm any anxiety. Last dose was Sunday and this is Wednesday. Feeling off, extreme anxiety, unwell. Is this common?

My brother has been on 160mg Geodon since 2/2008. He is having severe memory problems. Is it due to Geodon? He has schizoaffective disorder. He was also put on cogentin and inderal.

I have been on both meds I had a bad experience with Lithium which was I got so I could not walk and had to be taken to the hospital. The other drug you asked about Geodon it did not work for me. I was not on both medicines together though. I can not help you any futher. Good luck!

I somehow do not think so as 2 AP drugs, an AC drug and an ADHD drug smack of desperation and cocktail mixing to me, Im not surprised he needs Colace with that cocktail but why the ADHD drug - if hes on both AP's he is likely going to be so sedated that there's little chance of ADHD episodes. 2nd question is how old is your grandson?

how about an anti--anxiety drug like Klonopin to help you sleep? i was on Geodon and within a few weeks i was convinced i had cancer. talk about bad side effects. i now know what paranoid schitzophrenics feel like. i was convinced my husband and doctors wouldn't tell me how sick i was. geodon is a very terrible mood stabilizer in my book. try something else. Lamictal? sorry about the weight - Seroquel should be outlawed i gained 40 pds just like the other poster. good luck.

Hi, I don't know where to post this. I took the drug Geodon for two weeks because of depression and when I stopped, my vision started going by really fast. Like the movement was missing pieces. My hearing was also weird and I had a head tilt, and other kinds of bad symptoms. My vision is slowly recovering but it still scares me, because when I go outside everything looks like is going by really fast.

My son is 21 and was given geodon 40 mg an xanax he has had two seizures before starting these meds.I love my doctor but just want 2 and opinion and what I should watch out for?

I just stopped taking it and those symptoms stopped. It appears that this drug escalated my issues instead of suppressing them. So that's two now I can right off as bad for me...Abilify and Geodone. Guess I will just stick to the other drug regimen and see what happens. just love this juggling of drugs...

ve been sensitive to all the psych meds I took so far like 160mg of Geodon once a day caused me heart problems, the risperdal caused total sexual dysfunction at I think it was 3mg once a day which really disturbed me and abilify caused me to have nausea and headache that I needed headache medicine for at 10mg once a day which I can handle side effects like that but the doctor still cut it in half and is only giving me 5mg a day for now.

he is unacquainted w/geodon which he calls a recent psychiatric drug. i also had no paranoia on zero mg geodon and 4 mg perphenazine, just the chills. i tried 60 mg geodon and 4 mg perphenazine and that gave me worse chills. what do i do? i'm stuck in this situation. i can still think and function clearly and all that, but the chills are an extremely uncomfortable bother.

I am on Topamax for my migrains and for weightloss, well I am taking Geodon as well for depression, my question is.... If I am taking geodon will the Geodon which can cause mild weight gain counter act the weight loss with the topamax??

I went a few months without any medication, before receiving a prescription for Geodon. GEODON IS A TERRIBLE DRUG. I took 20 mg a day for four days, and during those four days (and for several days after) I experienced lightheadedness/feeling faint, headache, nausea, loss of appetite, akathesia, irregular/rapid heart beat, racing thoughts, EXTREME anxiety, insomnia, and flu like symtoms. All of these were so debilitating, it was difficult for me to even get up and walk around.

I think I might be getting manic again. I just switched from risperdal to geodon. I am on the lowest dose of geodon, but I am worried about taking more because it gave me body aches, and I had to start taking cogentin again, and if I take more of the geodon it might increase my chances of getting more yucky side effects. I feel like I am stuck between a rock and a hard place, lol.

I was on Seroquel for a several months but went off due to weight gain. Was switched over to Geodon, which was the worst drug I was ever on. The side effects were alarming. I'm now back on the Seroquel 200mg/day and find that it stabilizes my mood, and helps me to sleep, which has always been a huge issue. Unfortunately medication is trial and error. It's when you get a med that's definitely an error (Geodon for me), that makes it scary and seem very hopeless...
