Geodon depression

Common Questions and Answers about Geodon depression

geodon

Avatar n tn I also increased the Geodon to 40 mg a day for the depression and am experiencing worse anxiety and obsessive thoughts, which I haven't had since the last time I was on 40 mg of Geodon. I can't find anything on the web that connects obsessiveness with Geodon. All of this is under my psychiatrist's guidance and he does not know why I'm experiencing this. Can you help?
Avatar f tn Since for us driven manic by AD, if you beat depression without an AD then no more depression for start the first face of the coin, and by not taking an AD then no second face too i.e. no mania. So by not having neither depression nor mania then no BP. Simple. I also demanded from the forum to start looking for an AD that doesn't bring mania. Although nobody came to rescue me by suggesting one, i tried in the meantime lexapro/cipralex, seroxat/paxil/ some tricyclics, stablon/coaxil etc..
Avatar f tn I took Geodon for two years and you need to build up like from the beginning again raise your levels it will kick in when you need it the most kk
Avatar m tn I don't have Bipolar 1 but Geodon helps my depression for sure along with of course my psychosis since it's an atypical antipsychotic. It's FDA approved to treat Bipolar mania and my therapist told me even though it's not FDA approved to treat depression it still has a mood stabilizing effect. It might not be working right for you as medications work differently for everyone.
Avatar f tn The ONLY time I feel stable is about 45 minutes to an hour after I take the Lamictal at night. When I get up in the morning, I am confused, tired (exhausted), paranoid, racing thoughts, severe anxiety, naseous (I have lost over 50 pounds in six months (a lot because I can't eat during the day). The loss of appetite is about the same time that I took Geodon. I'm now off of Geodon. The symptoms haven't improved. I really haven't felt well for about a year.
Avatar f tn but his after discharge psychiatrist made it sound like he was going to be on geodon forever..he has never had depression either..he has only had 2 of these manic episodes.both came on after extreme stressful situations..do people with bipolar always have both or can they only have one.? Do you think he was diagnosed correctly? It all started because his grandpa died then I found out we couldnt do our planned invitro because I had a cyst..
Avatar f tn I think Geodon is for BP patients who have equal mania and depression or more on the manic side (as opposed to Lamictal which is used for greater depressive BP). Trileptal is very similar to Tegretol - in fact, I think they are the same molecule but varied somewhat. I've read a statement from a Psychiatrist that Tegretol is always more successful for them than Trileptal is. Go to Bipolarworld - the Dr. in charge of that wrote a abstract of his experience using Tegretol vs Trileptal for BP.
Avatar m tn does geodon help you with ur bipolar?? ( explain please??
Avatar f tn So, My daughter has bipolar, we've tried a few medications. Abilify caused massive wieght gain - so we've switched to Geodon. She's been taking the Geodon for over a yr now and we've had this problem that I can't seem to change with anyother variable.... thus I'm asking if anyone else has this issue with Geodon.
Avatar n tn According to the manufactuer many of the symtoms you are experiencing could be from the Geodon. I suggest you contact your doctor immediately and express your concerns to him/her. There are many alternatives available that do not cause these side effects and remember that everyone is different, so side effects are often different for each person. So another medication may not be as difficult for you and sometimes initial side effects fade after taking the medication for awhile. Good Luck!
685321 tn?1230951152 I'm sorry you've gone through all of that, I've had 3 diagnoses along the way, finally coming full circle to BP. There are a few ways mania or hypomania can rear it's ugly head, and many folks aren't aware. It can show up as being cranky, short tempered, impulsive behaviours, hoarding, partying too much, getting upset very quickly.
192368 tn?1224204130 I've gone through the same kind of bipolar depression and geodon didnt help at all, it just me really hungry and sleep for 18 hours after each 40 mg dose... seroquel does work but stay at a low dosage or better yet lamictal is supposed to have antidepressant features.
Avatar f tn He also added Cymbalta for depression. When she was on the Geodon, she functioned well, worked, was pretty stable and didn’t need an antidepressant. She is having a hard time with this transition (it's been a couple months now). She doesn’t feel “normal,” said she feels like her skin is crawling, she sleeps a lot during the day and is anxious about her future…wondering if the Clozaril doesn’t work, what will she be able to take.
Avatar f tn Which is worse bipolar one or two. And has anyone taken geodon. If so what side effects did you have.
Avatar f tn m finding out probably depression and I probably mistook what depression is from bad descriptions to me and being apparently misdiagnosed with major depressive disorder earlier in life but I took them both for a psychotic disorder instead of a mood disorder. I don't know about Abilify but I know I read Geodon had the potential to send people into a state of mania. "Ziprasidone is known to cause activation into mania in some bipolar patients.
Avatar f tn I take it for psychosis as it is an antipsychotic and also an antidepressant. It has worked better than Geodon for my negative symptoms but risperdal seemed like it was going to work even better for this but unfortunately I could not handle it. Geodon treated my psychotic symptoms better however. It doesn't work as good as I'd like it to but it's better than nothing. I could not tell you how it works for depression as I am not depressed.
Avatar n tn I was on Lamictal when I was a teen and don't remember a lot but I was also on Geodon (which I'm allergic to) and having really bad symptoms with it. So I'm not sure but I wish I could try the Lamictal again just to see if it would work.
Avatar m tn my daughter(step)has been diagnosed, bipolar and bpd, with depression, after changing meds afew times nowdue to bad reactions, she is taking geodon.my wife and i are noticing aggressive behavior, and paranoia(along with nhs therapist)she is currently in hospital(acute care)and docs and therapists seem to be ignoring this and are contemplating release after suicidal/homicidal threats, has anyone experienced or heard of such aggression from geodon?

719785 tn?1232901518 Hi my 14yr old was hospitalized last wk for hearing a voice, suicidal thoughts, depression, etc. Diagnosed only as having a "Mood Disorder NOS(not otherwise specified) His dr put him on Geodon 40mg twice a day. He started this med on Tues. was discharged from hospital on Sat. He is still very depressed, anxious, having like panic attacks etc. Does anyone know if this is "normal" or what.
Avatar m tn i felt mild but manageable chills on 20 mg geodon, 4 mg perphenazine, then my psychiatrist let me take zero mg geodon and 4 mg perphenazine. upon one day of taking zero mg geodon and 4 mg perphenazine i felt terrible chills up my spine. so i started taking 20 mg's geodon again. that didnt help, still the chills. so on the same day i took another 20 mg geodon, still the same chills.
Avatar f tn ive been put on multiple meds just bc of experimenting to see if theyd work on depression.. Zoloft, seroquel, septalaphram, geodon and respirdol. I realized at some point i felt like a zombie..i couldnt taste or feel and didnt care about anything, such as hygiene, hobbies, friends or family, grades..it didnt matter. I felt less than depressed, like an empty shell. So i quit taking those meds and some of the things have gone away but i still feel very vague..like in a dreamlike state..
642393 tn?1227032656 I was on 15 mg, but it didn't matter how low I went because I had the incessant urge to jog, move, fiddle--my muscles jerked. I had to get off. It might work for you so give it a try. Good luck.
1258608 tn?1269552597 Propanolol is a beta blocker so that sometimes can cause depression itself as it slows down heart rate. Think when the depression and anxiety began and your psychiatrist could see whether medications aren't treating it or may potentially have worsened it and adjust and/or change your medication as appropriate.
Avatar m tn I was on Geodon for 2 wks about 1.5 months ago. During that time I was on the 40 MG for about 10 days and 80 MG for about 4 days. I had a slew of very bad side effects. However, I was forced to stop taking Geodon when I was rushed to the ER with a heart rate of 160 BPM. I was forced to stop Geodon cold turkey because of this and went on a Beta Blocker. Plus, I had bloodwork, CT scan of heart, numerous EKGs...all normal. However, long after stopping Geodon, I still am having heart issues.
202665 tn?1248806733 I was on Geodon for about 3 years. About six months of overlap with Zyprexa at the beginning - it took forever to get off of Zyprexa - and almost a year of overlap with Seroquel at the end. It was a good drug in general. I remained relatively stable the entire time I was on it, but still experienced significant sleep problems. Eventually tried Seroquel because I had already been on all of the others (I had problems with Abilify, too) and it tends to have more of a sedative effect.
Avatar m tn Hi, I don't know where to post this. I took the drug Geodon for two weeks because of depression and when I stopped, my vision started going by really fast. Like the movement was missing pieces. My hearing was also weird and I had a head tilt, and other kinds of bad symptoms. My vision is slowly recovering but it still scares me, because when I go outside everything looks like is going by really fast.
