Geodon and prozac

Common Questions and Answers about Geodon and prozac

geodon

I had been on Geodon for a little over a year for depression and had attempted to go off it three times. This fourth time I have finally done it. I have been Geodon free for nine days. I guess I need to get used to being off of it because I feel tired and just not my self. Something is definitely missing. I guess that's normal? I am still on Prozac and Klonipine for panic attacks. I am panic attack free.
I have depression and an eating disorder and have been seeing the same psychiatrist for four years and have switched from one med to another med, I've taken them all. Presently I'm on 60mg Geodon, 80mg Prozac and 20 Buspar. I do not feel I want a baby but have been relying on family and this Doctor for advice. My doctor told me yesterday have a baby, I won't regret it without adressing my issues. Aren't Docs supposed to help you come to a conclusion, not push you toward one?
Oh yeah I thought I should also add I got really out of control during cold turkey withdrawal behaviorally from Geodon and my voices in my head from before started telling me I should be dead which they never told me things like that before ever among other psychotic things but this of course is really hard on the brain and it didn't happen again when I tapered off proper.
He was previously on zyprexa which also did not take all of his psychotic thoughts away and caused a 65lb weight gain even though he worked and barely ate. The geodon is not causing weight gain but it is making him so tired that he is lowering his dose to 80mg a day and threatening to stop it altogether if he still feel tired in another week. Has anyone been on geodon long enough to tell me if the fatigue goes away with time? Respirdal and seroquel to not work for him.
I have schizoeffective disorder and hear voices etc.I am on Prozac and Lamitctal, and I must say they work BEAUTIFULLY. I couldn't handle Geodon. It gave me terrible headaches and made me feel like a slug. Good luck.
Has anyone been on both antidepressants Prozac and Cymbalta at the same time? I know that the Prozac is in the older class of antidepressants and is very inexpensive, since I have no insurance. I'm still trying to figure out what isn't working in my cocktail of drugs, which is Depakote, Geodon, Cymbalta, and Lamictal (which I'm going off gradually). Something just has to work.
My bipolar illness is now stable with 20mg Celexa and 120 mg of Geodon, however my weight is now 131 on a 5'1"-5'2" frame. I'm especially sensitive to weight gain as I am both a dancer and a swimmer and excess fat has a toll on my performance.
your pdoc prescribed one AD one AD and one AP. you will find that geodon used to treat schizophrenia and acute manic or mixed episodes associated with bipolar disorder. it's also used as maintenance treatment of bipolar disorder when added to lithium or valproate. so the pdoc followed what is known. This doesn't mean you will get the best of this combo. Sure there must be a certain there that fits but it needs many trials and errors. pts can stay some time until they find one.
I have only been on Geodon 40mg for 10 days. Does anyone know will geodon help me sleep and rid the racing thought?
Now they took my percriptionplan away. I am suppose to take prozac and geodon. But unfortuneately I cant afford my geodon what should I do.
Then, about 2 ½ years ago I had a near-psychotic meltdown, mostly about the devil and evil spirits, and was diagnosed with OCD and prescribed Anafranil and Zyprexa, which helped with the irrational thinking and obsessive thoughts a little. Between now and then, I have been diagnosed with OCD, Social anxiety disorder, GAD, major depressive disorder, ADHD, and most recently, aspergers/high functioning autism.
I am a 24 year old male diagnosed with TMJ and Bipolar 1.Prozac 40mg/day 2.Hydroxyzine 100mg 2/day 3.Geodon 60mg/day 4.Tegretal 200mg 2/day. Meds I used to take: 1. Depekote 1000mg/day 2. Risperdal 2mg/day.

I now take seroquel, xanax, geodon, lamictal, klonopin, propranolol)as needed), synthroid, and very low doses of prozac and wellbutrin when Im really really depressed. I am rarely in remission from my bipolar. Im 45 now and still a total mess. When I sought help for depression after getting a dui-I went to a totally unethical and crazy shrink who put me on a ton of psychiatric meds. Prior to seeing that shrink-i never took pills of any kind.
I am also diabetic so I know I should not drink plus the meds I take (Zyprexa and Prozac) I think I'm in denial about my diabetes because I also have a problem with food, I crave carbs mostly. I feel like a big mess right now but I haven't had a drink today. Anyone else have this problem when manic? I would love to hear from you.
would you prescribe prozac and remeron and clonopin to a male with a history of violence and alcohol abuse?
Is it worth trying meds for bipolar type II after a year clean from methadone addiction? Cognatve/Behavioral Therapy helps me be aware and act accordingly, but the mood swings are still hard to deal with. I have a lot of stress in my life anyway, and am only a year clean. I talked with my wife and she said I was having bipolar episodes during active addiction, though I was not as aware of it. I used to take more on the bad days and would push on through. As a young man, I think I was type I.
The reason why Valium got a bad rap is the same reason why barbituates got one and why oxycodone and other drugs are street drugs and why Prozac and the SSRI drugs are massively overprescibed as is Ritalin and many anti biotics. Doctors facilitate patient drug use and abuse.
Is anyone taking both Depakote, Lamictal and Geodon? I feel very unemotional and blah still, and my doctor doesn't know what to do. I'm sort of at my last resort with this. I was under the impression that Depakote and Lamictal do the same thing, so why would I be on both when it's not helping? Any answers would be appreciated.
I am now 35, 3 children and when i was diagnosed manic-depressive i was on prozac, wellbutrin and taking hi levels of prescription weight loss pills. I was losing my mind but i wasn't losing any weight! When my Psychatrist decided to try me on Topamax it was because of my anieity over my weight gain with the standard mood stabilizers. Within these past two years I have lost 38 pounds taking this medicine.
I believe these medications aren't doing anything for me and what I've read about Geodon its an unsafe risky drug. I am 18 and I am going to ask my doctor if I can start lowering my dosages so I can safely quit taking them. Is it legal for him to deny my request of lowering my dosages? I am a legal adult and I believe I should be in control of what I am putting my my body. What are your experiences with this type of situation?
hi I have a problem. I am bipolar. right now im on geodon, lithium, and zoloft and birth control. I use to have a really really really high sex drive. now that ive been on medicine my sex drive has been really really low. and I dont like it at all. I cant remember when I started to notice it but I know its from the zoloft possibly cause thats when it started. and I know geodon is supposed to stop the sexual thoughts I think.
jHas anyone tried taking two antidepressants along with a mood stabilizer and had good results? I'm currently taking Depakote and Cymbalta, but thinking of adding Prozac for added depression benefits. I'm also on an antipsychotic, Geodon.
My psyciatrist at one point had me taking Lamictal, Geodon, Abilify and all kinds of crazy stuff. I got worse and ended in the hospital. Now I am with my regular Dr. who is now switching me from 80mg of Prozac (Ihave been on it for about 2 1/2 months and it's not really helping me,to Zoloft, slowly. I take 3 mg of Lorazepam everyday right now to help with the anxiety, and I also take Buspar, the maximum allowed dose.
weight gain; I'm not gaining but I cannot lose even one pound despite working out for 90 minutes five times per week. I also eat relatively healthy, high protein, low carb, moderate fat. I even have taken numerous fat burners from GNC to no avail. I am pretty stable except for my OCD. I have thoughts where I do something and then say to myself it's bad luck so I do it again. I do this for everything including but not limited to flushing the toilet and checking doors.
prozac killed my sex drive too i took abilify for schizophrenia and i gained 50 lbs.i took geodon and got tardive dyskinesia i now take respiridone and i now weigh 200 lbs. i am supposed to be 156 lbs.
Dear Gonz, I am Bipolar 1 and take a pretty high dose of xanax, as well as Geodon and Lithium. I too share your fear of antidepressants and SSRIs. The meds only keep me stable...they do NOT intoxicate me. Of course there is associated anxiety.I also have Generalized Anxiety Disorder and Panic. Thats partly what the benzos are for I really hope this helps.
He tried prozac for a while and all it seemed to do was make my head feel bloated and never relieved any tighness. This has been going on for 6 months after stopping the Geodon and Depakote. When I wake up the pressure isn't so bad . If I eat toast and Jelly the tightness comes full strength. If I eat a salad or a sandwhich it's not so bad. I had bloodwork done and everything came back normal. I hate having to depend on xanax to relieve the pressure.
