Geodon and klonopin

Common Questions and Answers about Geodon and klonopin

geodon

Avatar n tn Hes putting me on geodon to try and get me off zyprexa and to see if i get better sleep. I am on 30 mg of zyprexa right now and life has been better, cause at one time i was on 40 mg. With all the medications I am on I still don't sleep that well. We both think I'm over medicated. The doctor says that I need to calm down and relax and wait for them to work and then he will start to slowly reduce my amounts and how much medications i am on. the objective right now is to fisrt stablize me.
311051 tn?1193416206 I have had anxiety for over a year now. Lately I started geodon and take 3mg of klonopin a day. I also take warfarin for a blood clot I had in my lung. The past week or so my eyes have been dilated and it is scaring me. The Doc's say there is nothing wrong, but they haven't done any tests. Has anyone had this with anxiety or panic disorder or from meds. Please let me know. Thanks so much!!!!!
1258608 tn?1269552597 I am currently on 160mg of Geodon, 200mg of Zoloft, 5mg of Abilify, 2mg Klonopin, 60mg of Propranolol. I also suffer from major tremors that are pretty much constant and very noticeable to others. I have a hard time driving because I get tremors in my legs and feet. The tremors have gotten worse over time. I could really use some support right now and any advice that you may have.
Avatar n tn Geodon was a horrible drug for withdrawals..... She should NOT stop cold turkey, but under the guidance of a pdoc slowly taper down... I was only on it for about 2 weeks and it as one of the worst experiences I've ever gone through....
Avatar f tn I've been on Klonopin for months and I barely eat and I keep gaining weight. It's not just Klonopin, it's any medication that I take for my brain that causes me to gain weight and when I get off the medicine, I never lose the weight. So now I'm clincically obese (it's been 7 years, almost 8 in a few months) and I don't know what to do anymore. Right now I'm on Geodon and Klonopin and they help out my BP and anxiety so much but at the risk of what???
663901 tn?1232649671 t happy with it because of the weight gain and skin (terrible breakouts) issues. He switched me on October 14th to Geodon. I took 40mg a day for two days and then was bumped up to 80mg. I continued taking the 80mg a day but was completely sick on this medication. I would have waves of dizziness, flu-like symptoms, blurred vision. Finally I was able to get the pdoc to call me back on 10/24/08 and I told him that I was unable to tolerate the medication.
Avatar n tn I have had memory and concentration problems since last July/August when I took Abilify for one month. I was also taking Klonopin at the time. Before this I was taking Geodon 120 mg. The memory was so bad that I did not understand anything after reading a page in a book. The memory and concentration has become much better but still quite bad. I believe this has a lot to do with decreasing my dose of Geodon over a few months to 10mg.
494087 tn?1257793207 geodon - I would start googling and read what you can about it. You can also visit the bipolar forum and read what others are posting about it. You can also do some research on bipolar illness and read the questionnaires on the disease to see if you fit any of the criteria. I'm so sorry about your situation...also, you need to watch these tremors, too.
Avatar f tn Does anyone know a way to decrease the anxiety when tapering off Geodon? I'm already taking Klonopin, and Benedryl doesn't help. I've been on 20mg with breakfast and 40mg with dinner for six months now. Doctor has no further suggestions. Please reply if you know how to control the rebound anxiety!
Avatar f tn My main issue was the binge eating at night when i was on geodon and seroquel. Ive been on geodon for 10 years and eventually was On such a low dose 40 mg that I just quit cold turkey. I did up my seroquel to 400 mg to eliminate the withdrawls. (im quite the pharmacist) I have actually been loosing weight rapidly. So glad I found the right cocktail! i'm 29 its about damn time!!
Avatar n tn listen to the other posts about checking w/ the dr and all...I was on it for about 2 months, I didn't have any withdrawals when I stopped it...geodon did serve its purpose at the time and I didn't need it any more and am fine without it now, that may not be the case though with her...I think it took about a week or so before I felt it was all out of my system too Take care!
1063332 tn?1254751034 I take Lamictal, wellbutrin, klonopin, geodon, vistaril, and now vyvanase (although strattera helped my moods a lot better plus the ADHD symptoms it caused breathing problems at 80 mg a day). I have severe insomnia and a lot of meds work opposite on me, hence making me a 'problem child' for any pdoc I've had. So the new combo seems to be doing well, but I would like to take a smaller dosage of the strattera as well. Don't see pdoc until 10/27.
Avatar m tn So I'm taking 40mg of Geodon for bipolar, though no psychotic symptoms. Now I know bipolar alone should deter me from taking mushrooms, and honestly I'm sure it will. And I know mixing recreational drugs with psychatric meds is a bad idea. Nevertheess, I have a question concerning the interaction between Geodon and psilocybin. From what I've read, psilocybin is an agonist to the 5HT2 serotonin receptor, which I assume means that it increases serotonin.
Avatar f tn Her psychiatrist has been slowly weaning her off the Geodon and slowly increasing the Clozaril. She also takes Klonopin for the jaw movements. He also added Cymbalta for depression. When she was on the Geodon, she functioned well, worked, was pretty stable and didn’t need an antidepressant. She is having a hard time with this transition (it's been a couple months now).
603543 tn?1255294450 Med withdrawal is EXTREMELY uncomfortable. I was on Geodon for about two weeks and the side effects were horrible, and the withdrawal was even worse, and I had only been taking it for a short period of time. Is your doctor going to prescribe something different or are you going to attempt to go med free?
Avatar n tn I have been on Wellbutrin off and on for 10 years, on Cymbalta for 4-5 years and Geodon for 4 years. I have been on Geodon 40 mg at times, but recently for the last year or so, on 20 mg. Recently, my psychiatrist bumped me up to 40 mg again. It seems like the last time I was on 40 mg, I also had anxiety and obsessive thoughts. I was just wondering if anyone else had the same experience with Geodon, since that is the only thing that has changed recently.
Avatar f tn I am currently taking Geodon, Cymbalta, Lamictal and Geodon. Recently I've had times when I've seen things that weren't what they really were. I'm wondering if this is psychosis. They're not like hallucinations, just sort of like I'm in a fog, not with it. I also have trouble with my understanding when someone is saying something to me, like a delayed reaction, feeling kind of slow. I really wonder if I need both mood stablizers.
Avatar f tn It's hard telling but I was put on Geodon and then Risperdal and finally Abilify and I have a history of alcohol abuse and you're not supposed to drink while on any of those and I never did anything like that but those are different medications and I am a different person altogether. I would say if he doesn't normally do this ever while intoxicated something is out of whack there but some people have a tendency to eventually turn violent no matter what while being drunk.
Avatar f tn Did not count the muscle relexants and the Klonopin helps with this but since it was originally prescribed for anxiety disorder it helps on standard psychiatric symptoms as well. The Klonopin has been 10 years now so that's the only consistent. Been through almost every known mood stabilizer and probably will keep trying them until I find the right match. The Clonidine patch has evened things out but it does run out after a few days so its not ideal.
Avatar f tn I'm bipolar 1 and have been on 160 MG of geodon for 16 yrs and it has stopped working for me.
Avatar f tn in cases of mild bipolar depression, is it normal for lows and highs to last only a few hours, rather than days or weeks? i have occasional week-long depression periods every once in awhile, but usually the hyper feeling or the depression will only last a few hours. is that normal in mild bipolar disorder? im a teenager if that makes a difference.
Avatar f tn He has me on 4 different meds 2) anti depressants- cymbalta 20 mg and celexa 40 mg 1) mood stablizer- Geodon 100mg and 1) anti anxiety Klohipin 2mg 3 x day. Not t mention all the other medications I take. There is a web site google med interaction checker. The 4 meds he perscribes me interact with everything so I looked at the same kinds of meds just slight difference in them and the ones I chose didnt interact with anything severly.
Avatar m tn s supposed to have sedative properties and such but I became immune to sedation from Geodon that knocks you out and so far none of the other antipsychotics I tried sedate me that much either although they're supposed to generally but they all have a different propensity for sedating a person. It might also take some time to take effect in your body.
Avatar n tn I went a few months without any medication, before receiving a prescription for Geodon. GEODON IS A TERRIBLE DRUG. I took 20 mg a day for four days, and during those four days (and for several days after) I experienced lightheadedness/feeling faint, headache, nausea, loss of appetite, akathesia, irregular/rapid heart beat, racing thoughts, EXTREME anxiety, insomnia, and flu like symtoms. All of these were so debilitating, it was difficult for me to even get up and walk around.
Avatar m tn I have been on Geodon for about two years and my hair is coming out in handfuls.
Avatar m tn I took Geodon for 4 years for control of Tourette's Syndrome facial and head tics. While it did control my tics, it caused a variety of side effects. Some of them stopped when I stopped taking the drug, and the more severe ones are still with me a year later. I have severe tightness of the muscles in my neck, throat and around my eyes (causing me to squint constantly). I no longer breath normally and have difficulty at times drawing breath.
Avatar n tn He is having severe memory problems. Is it due to Geodon? He has schizoaffective disorder. He was also put on cogentin and inderal.
663901 tn?1232649671 m of the mind to eventually cut out the meds entirely (I know, I know, meds are probably in my lifelong future), but we have tried a combination of other medications, such as Lamictal, Abilify, Geodon, but I seem to be VERY sensitive to side effects of everything, and after my experience with Geodon, I am seriously afraid of switching to a new medication. The Geodon was such a nightmare of an exeperience (blurred vision, dizziness, etc), that I am reluctant to even have him switch out the meds..
Avatar m tn t do a thing for me. Again, I was under a lot of stress also, and I was on Lithium and Klonopin. In hindsight, I think it was mostly from a lower activity level due to the depression, stress and anxiety.
