518117 tn?1429276273 The minor tremors caused by lithium are seperate and that unlike the Haldol can be adjusted for. And if he does need an antipsychotic, the atypical antipsychotics, from Risperdal onwards and less likely to have the severe effects of Haldol. Most likely they just stabilized him and released him and a follow up visit with the psychiatrist to adjust and fine tune things should improve things.
440120 tn?1211724496 I was taking Haldol for my bi-polar and it made me too sleepy. I also took Trilafon and it worked well, but there isn't any $4 plan for it. I found out that my Pharmacy has a program for me to get Abilify for free so I want to give it a try. I was wondering if there are any bad side affects to look out for.
Avatar m tn I have taken Geodon, Haldol, Saphris, Risperdal, Seroquel, and Fanapt in just a year and a few months. Also just knowing that Fanapt can cause Tardive Dyskinesia scares me and would have me constantly paranoid if it is going to start. I wanna know if it is a good decision to take this drug until my numbness completely subsides and then stop it. I will bring all of this to the attention of my psychiatrist, but i just wanted to know what you think. Thank you.
Avatar f tn it might be TD i might have it also my mouth shakes alot and i am on geodon 80mg x2 a day.
Avatar m tn Reviewing those medications, it appears that some of them are from a family called neuroleptics (the Haldol and Geodon). I am not sure how frequently or what dose and duration your husband was administered during his stay but those medications do have the potential of causing side effects of involuntary movements. Among the side effects are - Akathisia – inability to stay still.
Avatar f tn I have no illness or diagnosis. It was a rush period in my love life and my mind was occupied with this one person, and than one day, after a week of non sleeping I was tripping that my parents are demons. Very scary. They took me to psychiatrist that put me on olanzapine 10mg and kept me in the hospital for 10 days. Traumatic experience. Than after 2-3 months the doctor put me on 7mg, and now I'm on 5 mg olanzapine. It was harder to cope with rest of the world the first few mounts.
Avatar m tn So I'm taking 40mg of Geodon for bipolar, though no psychotic symptoms. Now I know bipolar alone should deter me from taking mushrooms, and honestly I'm sure it will. And I know mixing recreational drugs with psychatric meds is a bad idea. Nevertheess, I have a question concerning the interaction between Geodon and psilocybin. From what I've read, psilocybin is an agonist to the 5HT2 serotonin receptor, which I assume means that it increases serotonin.
Avatar f tn However, for myself (not something you have of course) in having schizoaffective disorder I needed an antipsychotic and all of them except for Clozaril (which causes blood dyscreias and needs constant bloodwork and can be dangerous and something I couldn't tolerate) can cause it. I think I would have not been able to recover if I hadn't taken an antipsychotic all these years though I wish they had caught up with the tardive in time before it progressed this far.
Avatar f tn I was almost raped and molested and beaten and robbed and strangled and drugged with haldol at a nursing home. is there anything we can do?
Avatar n tn I have been on Wellbutrin off and on for 10 years, on Cymbalta for 4-5 years and Geodon for 4 years. I have been on Geodon 40 mg at times, but recently for the last year or so, on 20 mg. Recently, my psychiatrist bumped me up to 40 mg again. It seems like the last time I was on 40 mg, I also had anxiety and obsessive thoughts. I was just wondering if anyone else had the same experience with Geodon, since that is the only thing that has changed recently.
1221258 tn?1267542429 come and go with the dosage of the medication but are continuous and random and involuntary those should be called to the attention of your psychiatrist immediately. They should do a movement disorders test at regular intervals regardless. The potential of long term movement disorders for all atypical antipsychotics is 1% to 2.5% per person per year. For typical antipsychotics such as Haldol its 5% per person per years. That's what my psychiatrist informed me.
Avatar f tn I am currently taking Geodon, Cymbalta, Lamictal and Geodon. Recently I've had times when I've seen things that weren't what they really were. I'm wondering if this is psychosis. They're not like hallucinations, just sort of like I'm in a fog, not with it. I also have trouble with my understanding when someone is saying something to me, like a delayed reaction, feeling kind of slow. I really wonder if I need both mood stablizers.
2064758 tn?1331299797 Bipolar can have variants such as bipolar with psychotic features or schizoaffective disorder (such as I have) that have both mood and thought disturbances and can often require both a mood stabilizer and antipsychotic (as is true of myself). You could discuss this with the psychiatrist as well.
Avatar f tn They are trying to diagnose my mother for stroke - she's already in hospital. She was in a coma, came out lucid but unable t speak or eat. Because she is aggitated,, they needed to sedate her for the brain MRI, and gave her Haldon (halperidol) 0.25mg (they say) by injection. She became a zombie, glassy eyed and unable to even blink. 30h later she was perhaps showing very tiny improvements, moving arms/legs slowly, but head barely at all. .
Avatar f tn I'm bipolar 1 and have been on 160 MG of geodon for 16 yrs and it has stopped working for me.
Avatar m tn Hello! I receive a 100 mg injection of haldol decanoate on July 27th and I've been dealing with an uncomfortable side effect for the past two months. I get this staring problem where I fixate on small details around me and I can't look away. Like I'll stare at the taillights of the car in front of me or the specks of herbs in my food. And when I try to close my eyes, my eyelids flutter rapidly and I see flashes. And my eyelashes scratch my eyeballs.
Avatar n tn I went a few months without any medication, before receiving a prescription for Geodon. GEODON IS A TERRIBLE DRUG. I took 20 mg a day for four days, and during those four days (and for several days after) I experienced lightheadedness/feeling faint, headache, nausea, loss of appetite, akathesia, irregular/rapid heart beat, racing thoughts, EXTREME anxiety, insomnia, and flu like symtoms. All of these were so debilitating, it was difficult for me to even get up and walk around.
Avatar m tn I have been on Geodon for about two years and my hair is coming out in handfuls.
Avatar n tn He is having severe memory problems. Is it due to Geodon? He has schizoaffective disorder. He was also put on cogentin and inderal.
735919 tn?1236444549 thank you for the info on Lamictal, but does anyone take Geodon? I take 40mg Geodon and Lamictal. I do feel so much better, but i was wondering more about the Geodon side effects. I feel alittle more anixous im wondering if it is the Geodon.
1618236 tn?1408072214 The clearing of my throat is a habit for me as I keep doing this on a daily basis and I do this ~~constantly during the day~~ all the way up until I go to bed, even then, I do it in bed as I am trying to sleep it is very annoying and upsetting to ME and my partner. Will Haldol help with this and do you consider this drug to be dangerous for me to take on a daily basis?
Avatar f tn Any medication can sometimes take a week or two or longer to take full effect while some will take effect instantaneously. It all depends on the person of course. When I took Geodon I sometimes would "drool and stumble" figuratively for the former (felt really dumb some days) and literally for the latter (dragged my feet and sometimes felt drunk).
1202354 tn?1267655734 I decided to work out on the 7th and it was not a good idea I started to work out and I started to sweat than stopped and started getting goose bump and got really dizzy so I stopped and sat down, aparently this combintaion of medication blockes the ability to sweat and put the body temp very high!!! so I decided I would not take this medication anymore....
Avatar n tn Today is my fifth day on Geodon and I have been doing massive research on it to find out as much as I can about its pharmacology and effects. My question is: if Geodon causes constipation, will taking a stool softener decrease its absorption? Also: I understand it must be taken with food, what fiber/fat gram goal should be met before taking it?
Avatar n tn We had to wait 4 months of hell to be seen by a pyschiatrist and then had to wait about another 3 months to see some benefits from meds - clonidine and sulpiride. The tablets made him very tired and down and didnt go to school very often as he couldnt concentrate and fell asleep in class. He is very good at keeping in his vocal and motor tics when in public and with his friends but now he cannot do that. His motor and vocal tics are worse than ever.
Avatar n tn There is a cautionary note to alert the doctor if there is a history of seizures on Geodon. I am assuming that your psychiatrist is seeing both you and your son as his patients. ILADVOCATE gave you good advice to address your concern to the doctor. When prescribing meds or treatment, if there are any concerns or noteworthy precautions regarding the meds or treatment, information like instructions on what to watch out for and information is given along with the prescription of treatment.
Avatar m tn I'm worried abot my 6 1/2 year old niece. She has dropped from an lean, tall and rather muscular 97th percentile to just over 20th percentile in the last 6 months. She is pale, quieter than usual, catching every infection she comes in contact with, her lymph nodes aren't huge but weirdly hard (imagine frozen peas or dried beans under skin). She has been a picky eater in the past but this seems to be more than just a result of that behaviour re-occuring. Do I have reason to be concerned?
Avatar f tn ve been feeling suicidal and a bit depressed. Has anyone else had the same experience on geodon? Is it the geodon or Just depression emerging? I really appreciate the help.
