geodon and food

Included in my regimen are Geodon and Cymbalta. I noticed when I added the Geodon, I am not as hungry and food does not always taste as good. It has improved over the course of the year, but I have other more bothersome side effects from the Geodon. It has helped me in so many ways, I stay on it. Do you have any other side effects from the Geodon?

I have been on Quetiapine and it has been working except for the fact that I have gained 30lbs, and family and friends have noticed and nicely pointed it out, but personally it doesnt help my self esteem, as I have always been thin. I tried Zeldox and it made me so hyper I couldnt funtion, as well as not being able to sleep or hold down food, so I stopped it.

I was on Gedon for about a year... my doc gave it to me for bipolar and to help me sleep. I was taking the 60mg and about 5 of them would knock me out. don't be scared of 40mg its like a puppy dog. The best food mix I found out is a peanut butter and jelly sandwich for best results.

So I'm taking 40mg of Geodon for bipolar, though no psychotic symptoms. Now I know bipolar alone should deter me from taking mushrooms, and honestly I'm sure it will. And I know mixing recreational drugs with psychatric meds is a bad idea. Nevertheess, I have a question concerning the interaction between Geodon and psilocybin. From what I've read, psilocybin is an agonist to the 5HT2 serotonin receptor, which I assume means that it increases serotonin.

t work for bipolar symptoms but I am a diificult case. Abilify was the only med that worked. However, I did loose weight on Geodon and for the 2st couple weeks had an usdet stomach. If this drug works for you, and you know it's trial error for us anyway, I think you'll be please with the lack of side effects. I didn't even know I was on it after a week. I had hoped it would be the drug for me because it helped me loose some weight but for me it didn't help with my bipolar.

Look, your drug regimen is probably allowing you to have a life. But it's also got to be faced that it isn't sustainable for you. If what you're taking is causing constant diarrhea, you're not absorbing the nutrients from the little food you're allowing yourself to eat.

I have been on Wellbutrin off and on for 10 years, on Cymbalta for 4-5 years and Geodon for 4 years. I have been on Geodon 40 mg at times, but recently for the last year or so, on 20 mg. Recently, my psychiatrist bumped me up to 40 mg again. It seems like the last time I was on 40 mg, I also had anxiety and obsessive thoughts. I was just wondering if anyone else had the same experience with Geodon, since that is the only thing that has changed recently.

I am currently taking Geodon, Cymbalta, Lamictal and Geodon. Recently I've had times when I've seen things that weren't what they really were. I'm wondering if this is psychosis. They're not like hallucinations, just sort of like I'm in a fog, not with it. I also have trouble with my understanding when someone is saying something to me, like a delayed reaction, feeling kind of slow. I really wonder if I need both mood stablizers.

Saw pdoc Friday and started geodon 20mg x 2 a day, total 40mg. I had a splitting headache last night. Today have been off, stomach queezy, two times the headache came up and I took acetamiaphine. Now at bedtime I am ready to get sick to my stomach and feel awful. Does it react this fast or am I starting the flu? Anyone experience this, this fast?

I'm bipolar 1 and have been on 160 MG of geodon for 16 yrs and it has stopped working for me.

I went a few months without any medication, before receiving a prescription for Geodon. GEODON IS A TERRIBLE DRUG. I took 20 mg a day for four days, and during those four days (and for several days after) I experienced lightheadedness/feeling faint, headache, nausea, loss of appetite, akathesia, irregular/rapid heart beat, racing thoughts, EXTREME anxiety, insomnia, and flu like symtoms. All of these were so debilitating, it was difficult for me to even get up and walk around.

I have been on Geodon for about two years and my hair is coming out in handfuls.

He is having severe memory problems. Is it due to Geodon? He has schizoaffective disorder. He was also put on cogentin and inderal.

Also, are you taking it with food? The PI sheet says that the absorption is doubled in the presence of food. And the only info I can see on the PI sheet about titration says you can start at 40 mg 2x per day and increase it the next day to 60 mg 2x/day. So if your Psych NP wanted to, they could get you up there in the next 2-3 days, and atypicals work quickly, so if it's just that the dose is too low, you might be doing better in less than a week.

I discussed it with my doctor, and he told me I wasnt taking it properly and that it ia best taken with food that is at least 500 calories and it will lessen the side effects. Ive been trying to take it with food and when I do It definitly makes a difference. I hope this helps!

I've been on Geodon for 18 months and Remeron for 6 months. They stabalized my anxiety, but have bad motivation and gave me a flat personality. I successfully weaned off Remeron without any problems. I started to taper Geodon from 60mg to 40mg and got really bad anxiety. Is this my anxiety returning or is this withdrawal? I've had the anxiety for about 5 days now.

I was going to take the Lamictal with the Geodon, and and only take the Geodon long enough to get me to the theraputic dose of lamictal. However, the Geodon made me really hyper and irritable (at only 20 mg), and gave me a ravenous appetite. So now I'm trying a very small dose of seroquel with the Lamictal. And yes, the dr. I'm seeing is a psychatrist who specialises in eating disorders. I love my family doc.

thank you for the info on Lamictal, but does anyone take Geodon? I take 40mg Geodon and Lamictal. I do feel so much better,but i was wondering more about the Geodon side effects. I feel alittle more anixous im wondering if it is the Geodon.

Any medication can sometimes take a week or two or longer to take full effect while some will take effect instantaneously. It all depends on the person of course. When I took Geodon I sometimes would "drool and stumble" figuratively for the former (felt really dumb some days) and literally for the latter (dragged my feet and sometimes felt drunk).

Has anyone taking Geodon ever experienced extreme pain in the jaw when biting down? I woke up with this a few days ago on the left side and it started to go away but it came back as bad as before. It hurts so much just trying to chew food. I woke up yesterday with my left arm having a similar pain in it right above the elbow when I move it in certain ways.

I decided to work out on the 7th and it was not a good idea I started to work out and I started to sweat than stopped and started getting goose bump and got really dizzy so I stopped and sat down, aparently this combintaion of medication blockes the ability to sweat and put the body temp very high!!! so I decided I would not take this medication anymore....

There is a cautionary note to alert the doctor if there is a history of seizures on Geodon. I am assuming that your psychiatrist is seeing both you and your son as his patients. ILADVOCATE gave you good advice to address your concern to the doctor. When prescribing meds or treatment, if there are any concerns or noteworthy precautions regarding the meds or treatment, information like instructions on what to watch out for and information is given along with the prescription of treatment.

geodon - I would start googling and read what you can about it. You can also visit the bipolar forum and read what others are posting about it. You can also do some research on bipolar illness and read the questionnaires on the disease to see if you fit any of the criteria. I'm so sorry about your situation...also, you need to watch these tremors, too.

ve been feeling suicidal and a bit depressed. Has anyone else had the same experience on geodon? Is it the geodon or Just depression emerging? I really appreciate the help.

Do serequel cause weight gain? (200 at bed time) It sure helps me sleep.Dr will replace geodon with Lamictal and tompamax. Thanks for any feed back.

you need to speak to your psychiatrist or a doctor - none of us can answer you on ths subject and the reccomended dose is not 20mg twice a day its actually 20mb BID with food up to 80mg a day for schizophrenia and up to 120mg a day for bipolar as per guidelines of manufacturer but larger doses are used depending on psychosis.

I was given the choice between Geodon and abilify, and went with Geodon based mostly on cost. Good luck with your med change. I wish you the best!
