Geodon and effexor

Common Questions and Answers about Geodon and effexor

geodon

Avatar f tn I was put on effexor and Geodon for ptsd. They were working, put it seems they've stoped. I hate going to sleep. Its hard to be relaxed enough to fall asleep.
Avatar n tn I was going to take the Lamictal with the Geodon, and and only take the Geodon long enough to get me to the theraputic dose of lamictal. However, the Geodon made me really hyper and irritable (at only 20 mg), and gave me a ravenous appetite. So now I'm trying a very small dose of seroquel with the Lamictal. And yes, the dr. I'm seeing is a psychatrist who specialises in eating disorders. I love my family doc.
547014 tn?1214861617 My doctor tried me on Effexor, only 10mg and it made me shake so bad...this works for you and such a high dosage? I hate taking medication all together, right now the meds that I'm on aren't for me and I'm going to be taking something that people take for seizures, they think this may help me because of my allergic reactions. How are you doing?
Avatar n tn Hi, all I have been on Effexor-XR 150 mg since the birth of my son in November of 2002 and then they put me on Risperdal 1 milligram in February of 2006 and now as of March 7, 2008 I am weaning off both. My doctor has me taking 75 mg of Effexor for 1 week and then 37.5 mg of Effexor for 1 week and then stop. She has me weaning off the Risperdal by taking 0.5 mg for a week then 0.5 mg every other day for a week. I have had horrible weight gain with both of these medications.
Avatar f tn Before that cocktail i was on 300mg of seroquel, and working my way off of effexor. My reason for switching to Zeldox was because of the low instance of weight gain, and getting off effexor was a must as it made my mania worse. My problem is this. Constant anxiety waking up anxious, having the most minimal tasks like taking a shower cause anxiety. Always there is some kind of anxiety. I was prescribed 1mg of clonezapam to take nightly in the attempt to combat the anxiety.
Avatar m tn I have Bipolar and have been recently taking Lithium Carbonate, Effexor XR, Geodon, and Klonopin. My psychatrist has been lowering my Effexor dose over the last few months. And I have been having issues with some dizziness with each decrease in dose. A little over two weeks ago, I took my last Effexor dose. Since then I've been having problems with severe vertigo, nausea, and "brain zaps.
Avatar n tn m on 300 mg of welbutrin xl in the evening before bed, 150 mg of welbutrin sr in the morning, 150 mg effexor xr in both morning and before bed, and 40 mg of geodon in the evening. i'm hoping to switch the welbutrin and effexor to something else, either a single medication or two different medications, i've also been put on zoloft, lexapro, and prozac where the medications i'm not on currently either didn't work as they should have, or they had more negative side-effects than not.
603543 tn?1255294450 Med withdrawal is EXTREMELY uncomfortable. I was on Geodon for about two weeks and the side effects were horrible, and the withdrawal was even worse, and I had only been taking it for a short period of time. Is your doctor going to prescribe something different or are you going to attempt to go med free?
420308 tn?1203041262 I also am bipolar depressive and was on Effexor, which pooped, then Paxil and 600mg Seroquel. I went from 130 to 180 in 6 months and was having ongoing panic attacks. Day and night for an entire year. I'll tell you what made the panic attacks and depression go away. I quit antidepressants and sloooooly tapered off the seroquel. It was remarkable. The antidepressants were making me crazy. The awful anxiety slowly got better, although not all the way.
Avatar n tn I was on Lamictal when I was a teen and don't remember a lot but I was also on Geodon (which I'm allergic to) and having really bad symptoms with it. So I'm not sure but I wish I could try the Lamictal again just to see if it would work.
Avatar f tn However, unlike other atypicals it has activity similar to the antidepressant Effexor (serotonin and norepinephrine reuptake inhibition) and buspirone (partial antagonist at 5HT1a). Phew, you don't need to understand all of that to understand my response but just in case you are interested in the pharmacology I thought I would discuss it. Abilify is a perfect example of the notion that doses are very different depending on the type of mood disorder.
Avatar f tn You can take birth control and be pregnant on lithium and geodon combo and there are really relatively few adverse side effects!
Avatar m tn So I'm taking 40mg of Geodon for bipolar, though no psychotic symptoms. Now I know bipolar alone should deter me from taking mushrooms, and honestly I'm sure it will. And I know mixing recreational drugs with psychatric meds is a bad idea. Nevertheess, I have a question concerning the interaction between Geodon and psilocybin. From what I've read, psilocybin is an agonist to the 5HT2 serotonin receptor, which I assume means that it increases serotonin.
Avatar f tn She was on Geodon 80 mg (gained 30lbs and no improvement) and zoloft 50mg... with all the other stuff she was on. That was from August until mid December. For "psychosis" which turned out to be rapid eye movement from Lithium when she was manic. She has been off the Geodon and the Zoloft for 2 months and is back stable.
Avatar f tn m at my last resort after being on Depakote, Lamictal, Geodon, and Cymbalta. If anyone has had any experience with either of these drugs, I'd like to know what you thought of them.
Avatar f tn DX with Cyclothymia and was given script for Effexor, then Seroquel and now Abilify. Dumped Seroquel down toilette and want to do the same with Abilify. Pristiq was the best and want to find MD who will put me on that.
Avatar n tn I have been on Wellbutrin off and on for 10 years, on Cymbalta for 4-5 years and Geodon for 4 years. I have been on Geodon 40 mg at times, but recently for the last year or so, on 20 mg. Recently, my psychiatrist bumped me up to 40 mg again. It seems like the last time I was on 40 mg, I also had anxiety and obsessive thoughts. I was just wondering if anyone else had the same experience with Geodon, since that is the only thing that has changed recently.
Avatar f tn I am currently taking Geodon, Cymbalta, Lamictal and Geodon. Recently I've had times when I've seen things that weren't what they really were. I'm wondering if this is psychosis. They're not like hallucinations, just sort of like I'm in a fog, not with it. I also have trouble with my understanding when someone is saying something to me, like a delayed reaction, feeling kind of slow. I really wonder if I need both mood stablizers.
Avatar f tn I'm bipolar 1 and have been on 160 MG of geodon for 16 yrs and it has stopped working for me.
Avatar n tn I went a few months without any medication, before receiving a prescription for Geodon. GEODON IS A TERRIBLE DRUG. I took 20 mg a day for four days, and during those four days (and for several days after) I experienced lightheadedness/feeling faint, headache, nausea, loss of appetite, akathesia, irregular/rapid heart beat, racing thoughts, EXTREME anxiety, insomnia, and flu like symtoms. All of these were so debilitating, it was difficult for me to even get up and walk around.
Avatar f tn bless you honest i mean how good are you to speak about it ,i cant help you really with the meds, just wanted you too know that i think you are amazing to still be able to talk to us after all that and let you know we are here to try and help.
Avatar f tn ADs and BP disorder are always an interesting conundrum. I know that there have been extensive studies regarding a Zyprexa/Prozac combination for BP disorder. Those studies have shown to be effective. If you and your pdoc are thinking about going with Prozac, I would probably look into using it with Zyprexa. The ADs can be hit or miss, especially with BP folks. I know that I (along with many BP friends) have had serious issues with all of the ADs.
Avatar m tn I have been on Geodon for about two years and my hair is coming out in handfuls.
Avatar n tn He is having severe memory problems. Is it due to Geodon? He has schizoaffective disorder. He was also put on cogentin and inderal.
Avatar f tn I've been suffering for so long with this depression, I've just about given up. All the meds I'm on and I feel the same. I'm able to do what I need to do to get by, but I'm definitely not myself. I wake up dreading the day and wondering how I'm going to make it through. I try to get out and walk my dog every day and do things to stay in a routine. It doesn't help that my husband's been laid off for 18 months.
Avatar f tn Psych: Effexor XR, Topamax, Lexapro, Seroquel, Trazadone, Xanax (prn) Other: Aciphex (GERD), Detrol (Urinary issue), Evoxac (Sjogrens), Levoxyl (Thyroid), Oxycotin (pain), Plaquenil (Lupus), Provigil (alterness), Vicodin PRN (pain), 3 tropical ointments, 8 OTC vitamins/minerals 12 Rx daily (over 20 actual pills, some as many as 4x/day) 3 topicals 2 PRNs 8 OTCs Do I win? I never win anything, so, maybe in my loss of health, I can win in the number of meds I take!
Avatar n tn When I combined it with geodon though I began having tardive dyskinesia and it was so embarassing I stopped the effexor by switching to 20 mg of celexa and this switching from one day to the next resulted in NO SIDE EFFECTS WHATSOEVER. Then I switched to paxil and then over the course of a week weaned myself off the paxil and suffered no withdrawal symptoms whatsoever. P.S.
Avatar n tn What are the effects of alcohol and marijuana with seraquil, depakote, effexor and topimax medications for bi polar?
735919 tn?1236444549 thank you for the info on Lamictal, but does anyone take Geodon? I take 40mg Geodon and Lamictal. I do feel so much better, but i was wondering more about the Geodon side effects. I feel alittle more anixous im wondering if it is the Geodon.
