No actually anti-cholinergic side effects include dry mouth and blurred vision so dry skin might be part of that and perhaps the Geodon wasn't causing it as much as what you took before or after as dry skin did seem to be a rather common side effect of Geodon but wouldn't of course always happen.

finally off of it and now my mouth is so dry-no amount of water, over the counter oral moistures, and eliminating all dry mouth causing drugs i can. taste has changed, spices i can even taste salt in my soda. roof of mouth is red, and hurts when swallowing----any ideas???

I asked my husband, a dentist, and he said the medication can cause dry mouth, so be sure you get your teeth cleaned regularly. Also, when you go to a dentist tell him you are taking the medication because some antibiotics can cause adverse reactions (like erythromycin) when taken together. Thye dentist will know to prescribe an antibiotic that is safe to take with Geodon.

My main issue was the binge eating at night when i was on geodon and seroquel. Ive been on geodon for 10 years and eventually was On such a low dose 40 mg that I just quit cold turkey. I did up my seroquel to 400 mg to eliminate the withdrawls. (im quite the pharmacist) I have actually been loosing weight rapidly. So glad I found the right cocktail! i'm 29 its about damn time!!

Tingling of mouth and tongue, dry tongue but watering mouth, runny nose and a feeling as though my throat was closing, weakness of legs and weird breathing - breathing was really slow. This morning my tongue is still tingly and my throat is swollen. This was so scarey and my pdoc had told me that after a couple of weeks on 2.5mg I would be increased to 5mg. I don't think I will be taking them again.

What have yall done that has helped ease the withdrawals of geodon and oxcarbmazipine? I've got headaches, sweats, shakes, vomiting, dry heaves, vision problems, thrush.....PD said withdrawals only last 6 hours.....seriously???

Hi, I take Lithium too. , it work's wonder's for me in combination with Seroquel .The only mild side effect's i get is a little shaky in the hands sometime's nothing major, and you do get a dry mouth sometime's aswell ,so just keep your fluid's up (water) is the go, apart from that it's all good my mood's a pretty leveled out .

I know Abilify like all antipsychotics can cause anti-cholinergic side effects (although less so then other antipsychotics) which include dry mouth and urinary retention. Sometimes some of the side effect pills used to treat the motor restlessness from it such as the anti-cholinergics (Cogentin, Artane, etc.) can make that worse. That might be one cause but generally its not so severe. Your psychiatrist should be able to explain what happened though.

So I'm taking 40mg of Geodon for bipolar, though no psychotic symptoms. Now I know bipolar alone should deter me from taking mushrooms, and honestly I'm sure it will. And I know mixing recreational drugs with psychatric meds is a bad idea. Nevertheess, I have a question concerning the interaction between Geodon and psilocybin. From what I've read, psilocybin is an agonist to the 5HT2 serotonin receptor, which I assume means that it increases serotonin.

d have to speak to your psychiatrist to find out if the anxiety is just something untreated or a minor side effect of the Geodon and if it will go away in time. Think about when the anxiety started to get worse and speak to them about all this.

Hello, I take Lithium and Seroquel . The Seroquel increase's appetite and weight gain but i have no issue's with Lithium except dry mouth and dehydration sometime's ,so i drink lot's of water . It's a mood stabilizer and work's well for me and you need regular blood test's so your Lithium levels are not too high .

I have been on Wellbutrin off and on for 10 years, on Cymbalta for 4-5 years and Geodon for 4 years. I have been on Geodon 40 mg at times, but recently for the last year or so, on 20 mg. I'm wondering why he would be on both Geodon and Zyprexa. They are both antipsychotics. The Simvastatin is for cholesterol. Does he have high cholesterol or heart disease? The Colace might be inevitable with the other medications, because they can cause constipation. Have you considered a second opinion? I am currently taking Geodon, Cymbalta, Lamictal and Geodon. Recently I've had times when I've seen things that weren't what they really were. I'm wondering if this is psychosis. They're not like hallucinations, just sort of like I'm in a fog, not with it. I'm bipolar 1 and have been on 160 MG of geodon for 16 yrs and it has stopped working for me.

First, I had a dry nose and mouth throughout the entire 48 weeks and also for a month and a half after finishing Tx. At times my mouth was so dry I could not swallow, especially at night. My nose was also dry and crusty inside. Disgusting. Hope you are not eating, LOL. I measured my water and, in order to get the 1 gallon a day (4 liters), I was constantly drinking, day and night. Even without the measuring, I would have been drinking because my mouth was parched and I could not swallow.

I went a few months without any medication, before receiving a prescription for Geodon. GEODON IS A TERRIBLE DRUG. I took 20 mg a day for four days, and during those four days (and for several days after) I experienced lightheadedness/feeling faint, headache, nausea, loss of appetite, akathesia, irregular/rapid heart beat, racing thoughts, EXTREME anxiety, insomnia, and flu like symtoms. All of these were so debilitating, it was difficult for me to even get up and walk around.

Then I started oil pulling bc I looked up dry mouth and throat and some pretty weird things came up. Like sorts of gum disease. Oil pulling helps kill and pull all the toxins out of your mouth. I'm much better now. Still a little dry but I can sleep. Is it actually the feeling of being thirsty or just having a dry mouth? If your mouth is feeling dry try sucking on a hard candy or swishing your mouth out with water or mouthwash. If you feel like you are dehydrated unless you drink that much water that warrants a visit with the doc. As coffeebuzz said that can be an indicator of many different issues including diabetes or kidney issues to name a few. How often are you using the bathroom?

I did some research for you and found out that dry mouth can be a symptom of opiate withdrawal. I read that you can suck on ice cubes, chew gum or mints BUT it will pass with time. There is also special toothpaste for those with excessive dry mouth.
