Geodon and depakote

Common Questions and Answers about Geodon and depakote

geodon

Avatar n tn Hes putting me on geodon to try and get me off zyprexa and to see if i get better sleep. I am on 30 mg of zyprexa right now and life has been better, cause at one time i was on 40 mg. With all the medications I am on I still don't sleep that well. We both think I'm over medicated. The doctor says that I need to calm down and relax and wait for them to work and then he will start to slowly reduce my amounts and how much medications i am on. the objective right now is to fisrt stablize me.
Avatar f tn Is anyone taking both Depakote, Lamictal and Geodon? I feel very unemotional and blah still, and my doctor doesn't know what to do. I'm sort of at my last resort with this. I was under the impression that Depakote and Lamictal do the same thing, so why would I be on both when it's not helping? Any answers would be appreciated.
Avatar f tn He prescribed me 180mg 0f Geodon and 1000mg of Depakote. After taking this a week I began having heart palpatations, swollen ankles, hallucinations right after taking them and felt sick and restless. I couldn't wake up and catch a snap until around 3pm even after drinking several cups of coffee and I fely numb like a zombie. He took me off cold turkey. I started having extreme tightness in my chest on the left side of my body along with ear pressure.
Avatar m tn 150 milligrams of trazadone at bedtime, 120 milligrams of geodon at bedtime, 1milligram 3 times a day of lorazapam and 150 milligrams of wellbutrin 2 times a day.
Avatar m tn Seems the geodon, seroquell and depakote were my best combination from the hospital pdoc in 05. Wierd because lithium and geodon were not a good mix and left me further in the hole. Won't give you the recipe in open forum. Have to go get ready to go to psych. Better than two weeks ago but still in the hole. Hope your skin remains without dryness.
Avatar f tn Does anyone know of any medications other than Geodon, Depakote and Lexapro to treat Bipolar? I have been depressed for over 3 years, and I've also tried Lithium, Lamictal, Cymbalta and Buspar. I wake up dreading the day, and I feel very anxious all day, like I don't want to stay unoccupied. My thoughts are all about how I'm never going to beat this thing; it feels almost like something alien has taken over my brain. I also can't yawn anymore.
776302 tn?1241091853 Thank you so much for the very helpful post. I have taken Depakote and Seroquel before. The seroquel was prescribed for my insomnia and depakote for my migraines. I didn't take the depakote long enough though. I'm still a little confused on the hypomanic phases because I'm not sure when I'm in one. I do get to where I'm very talkative and won't shut up.
Avatar n tn is it safe to take trazodone if i cant sleep and I am on a regular geodon 80mg and depakote 1000mg (devide by am/pm) also with cogentin?
Avatar f tn m at my last resort after being on Depakote, Lamictal, Geodon, and Cymbalta. If anyone has had any experience with either of these drugs, I'd like to know what you thought of them.
Avatar f tn m holding out that this will help me, along with my current meds (Depakote, Cymbalta, Geodon). At this point, I just don't know what's working and what isn't. I just don't want to be on too much medicine that I don't need.
7773352 tn?1394065574 t enough. I took Depakote, and gained weight from my increase in appetite. Then I tried Seroquel, which worked good but I ate so much and gained weight. Then I tried Saphris, and gained 15 pounds! I couldn't stop eating. My doctor just put me on Abilify today but if it makes me gain weight too then what should I ask for?
Avatar f tn I've been on Klonopin for months and I barely eat and I keep gaining weight. It's not just Klonopin, it's any medication that I take for my brain that causes me to gain weight and when I get off the medicine, I never lose the weight. So now I'm clincically obese (it's been 7 years, almost 8 in a few months) and I don't know what to do anymore. Right now I'm on Geodon and Klonopin and they help out my BP and anxiety so much but at the risk of what???
Avatar f tn I waz on and i had a reaction to it its got an ingredient in it and caused me to lactate not bein pregnant and zyprexa i gained alot of weight like 20lb in a month
Avatar f tn Geodon I gained no weight from but Abilify I did but I think it's because it made me start eating more.
Avatar f tn She was on Geodon 80 mg (gained 30lbs and no improvement) and zoloft 50mg... with all the other stuff she was on. That was from August until mid December. For "psychosis" which turned out to be rapid eye movement from Lithium when she was manic. She has been off the Geodon and the Zoloft for 2 months and is back stable.
497950 tn?1255863927 m on Zoloft and Depakote - I still cycle but not as badly - I feel like a fat whale and have gained about 5 lbs (not that much really) I really liked how Lexapro and Depakote improved my sleep and lowered my blood sugar readings (I am also diabetic) but one dosage of the Lexapro gave me dysphoric mania and that is not good and a higher dosage gave me "pure" mania and I couldn't sleep and was quite crude SO.... Hope all goes well...
Avatar f tn There are very few psychiatric meds that do not contribute to weight gain. I think Lamictle, Geodon (sp?), and one that starts with T (but that one I think also lowers the effectiveness of birthcontrol.) If you are concerned about weight gain talk to your doctor.
Avatar m tn Some of the one I am familiar with are Abilify, Geodon, Depakote, Lamictal, Lithium, Remeron, Aoloft, Prozac, and many many more. You may want to post and ask for a website link to get more info. I know one site www. NAMI.org is very good and has links. I think it boils down to good old fashion research. Usually it's a combination of 2 or 3 meds to treat the different symtoms of Bipolar. Most people are not on just one med.
Avatar m tn So I'm taking 40mg of Geodon for bipolar, though no psychotic symptoms. Now I know bipolar alone should deter me from taking mushrooms, and honestly I'm sure it will. And I know mixing recreational drugs with psychatric meds is a bad idea. Nevertheess, I have a question concerning the interaction between Geodon and psilocybin. From what I've read, psilocybin is an agonist to the 5HT2 serotonin receptor, which I assume means that it increases serotonin.
Avatar f tn jHas anyone tried taking two antidepressants along with a mood stabilizer and had good results? I'm currently taking Depakote and Cymbalta, but thinking of adding Prozac for added depression benefits. I'm also on an antipsychotic, Geodon.
Avatar n tn They gave me Depakote Er divalproex sodium 500mg and also Geodon ziprasidone HC 40mg for the pain they told me it would help me out for the pain I was going throw. I started looking the pills up on the internet and found out they where used for people with Bipolar issue.
Avatar f tn s given at night because it can really knock you out. My son is on depekote, geodon, rozerem, and adderall xr. He has Aspergers and add. But he only takes 250 of the depokote and the dr does reg blood work on him. He's 10, Hope this helps! Good luck!
Avatar f tn I was on depakote and really watched what i ate and didn t have a problem. Also what about tegertol?Heres a website that is good aswell www.worldshealthiestfoods.
Avatar n tn My new Pdoc suggested I try something else and after a few tweaks I am now on Depakote and Seroquel XR. I have reduced my Depakote because once again the weight was piling on..but I really like the Seroquel, it has stopped the crazy lady stuff, I was so violent and scary with the PMDD, I'm sure you know what I mean, but it has stopped all that for me, I don't know how it works for everyone else but it works for me.
Avatar f tn Now since you on depakote,be sure to have your thryoid tested.Depakote and lithium both destroy the thyroid and that will worsen your bi polar or give you bi polar symptoms when you never had them before. Good luvk to you.
Avatar m tn Reviewing those medications, it appears that some of them are from a family called neuroleptics (the Haldol and Geodon). I am not sure how frequently or what dose and duration your husband was administered during his stay but those medications do have the potential of causing side effects of involuntary movements. Among the side effects are - Akathisia – inability to stay still.
Avatar n tn I have been on Wellbutrin off and on for 10 years, on Cymbalta for 4-5 years and Geodon for 4 years. I have been on Geodon 40 mg at times, but recently for the last year or so, on 20 mg. Recently, my psychiatrist bumped me up to 40 mg again. It seems like the last time I was on 40 mg, I also had anxiety and obsessive thoughts. I was just wondering if anyone else had the same experience with Geodon, since that is the only thing that has changed recently.
