Geodon and cymbalta

Common Questions and Answers about Geodon and cymbalta

geodon

Avatar n tn I have been on Wellbutrin off and on for 10 years, on Cymbalta for 4-5 years and Geodon for 4 years. I have been on Geodon 40 mg at times, but recently for the last year or so, on 20 mg. Recently, my psychiatrist bumped me up to 40 mg again. It seems like the last time I was on 40 mg, I also had anxiety and obsessive thoughts. I was just wondering if anyone else had the same experience with Geodon, since that is the only thing that has changed recently.
Avatar f tn I am currently taking Geodon, Cymbalta, Lamictal and Geodon. Recently I've had times when I've seen things that weren't what they really were. I'm wondering if this is psychosis. They're not like hallucinations, just sort of like I'm in a fog, not with it. I also have trouble with my understanding when someone is saying something to me, like a delayed reaction, feeling kind of slow. I really wonder if I need both mood stablizers.
1610967 tn?1314811101 Included in my regimen are Geodon and Cymbalta. I noticed when I added the Geodon, I am not as hungry and food does not always taste as good. It has improved over the course of the year, but I have other more bothersome side effects from the Geodon. It has helped me in so many ways, I stay on it. Do you have any other side effects from the Geodon?
Avatar f tn We saw her doctor on Friday and he upped her Cymbalta and Clozaril. Said he wasn't aware of any blood tests for these meds but that you might know something he didn't. He didn't think she was tapered off the Geodon too quickly so hopefully these increases will help. You didn't mention whether or not you have heard about The Road Back Program. When you have time I would appreciate your comments about that. Thank you for your other suggestions...we will pursue.
Avatar f tn m holding out that this will help me, along with my current meds (Depakote, Cymbalta, Geodon). At this point, I just don't know what's working and what isn't. I just don't want to be on too much medicine that I don't need.
Avatar n tn I was going to take the Lamictal with the Geodon, and and only take the Geodon long enough to get me to the theraputic dose of lamictal. However, the Geodon made me really hyper and irritable (at only 20 mg), and gave me a ravenous appetite. So now I'm trying a very small dose of seroquel with the Lamictal. And yes, the dr. I'm seeing is a psychatrist who specialises in eating disorders. I love my family doc.
Avatar n tn Been on meds for years. Without Dr. A few months sop family Dr gave me Geodon, cymbalta and Xanax till I got new Dr. New Dr put me In hospital for 3 days and took away Xanax and added vistaril 25mg 3 times day, neurontin 300mg @ bedtime, trazodone 100mg @ bedtime and up dose to 90mg cymbalta. Getting worse so saw Dr. and up dose on trazodone and vistaril. Still not better up dose on Geodon. Still worse with bad panic attacks, tardive dyskinesia, anger and rage, hot as fire most time.
Avatar n tn I take 120mg of cymbalta for years no such luck must be something else
Avatar f tn m at my last resort after being on Depakote, Lamictal, Geodon, and Cymbalta. If anyone has had any experience with either of these drugs, I'd like to know what you thought of them.
202665 tn?1248806733 First off, I would be curious as to why your doctor feels that you need to be on not one, but two anti-psychotics (Geodon and Seroquel). They are pretty powerful and in my experience, when a person starts a new one, they are taken off the other. But not knowing your current symptoms, I cannot say. I was on Geodon as a mood stabilizer for 2 1/2 years. For a long time, I was very satisfied with it.
Avatar f tn He has me on 4 different meds 2) anti depressants- cymbalta 20 mg and celexa 40 mg 1) mood stablizer- Geodon 100mg and 1) anti anxiety Klohipin 2mg 3 x day. Not t mention all the other medications I take. There is a web site google med interaction checker. The 4 meds he perscribes me interact with everything so I looked at the same kinds of meds just slight difference in them and the ones I chose didnt interact with anything severly.
1063332 tn?1254751034 Just wondering if anyone out there has had such a large cocktail to remain stable and if anyone knows if adding a lower dose of strattera and a small dose of cymbalta to the mix would cause trouble. I admit I have been taking the 40 mg of strattera every other day even though pdoc switched me to vyvanse. Am taking that as well but just makes me a little moody when it wears off. (as did adderall).
1018335 tn?1270080530 I would like to get off suboxone sometime this year. could i take something like cymbalta and just quit the suboxone - basicly having the anti depressant take it's place in some way? are there any combinations that work with suboxone? I am seeing my phsciatrist tomarrow and would like to have some ideas as far as my medications. this is so confusing, yet liberating that soon i will be functional for the first time in my life. Thanks for your help.
Avatar m tn So I'm taking 40mg of Geodon for bipolar, though no psychotic symptoms. Now I know bipolar alone should deter me from taking mushrooms, and honestly I'm sure it will. And I know mixing recreational drugs with psychatric meds is a bad idea. Nevertheess, I have a question concerning the interaction between Geodon and psilocybin. From what I've read, psilocybin is an agonist to the 5HT2 serotonin receptor, which I assume means that it increases serotonin.
Avatar f tn m on a recently increased dose of 2500 mg Depakote, 60 mg Cymbalta, 100 mg Lamictal, and 100 mg Geodon. Nothing really seems to help. I've felt sort of emotionless, unable to enjoy things like I used to. Just haven't felt like myself. I manage to get through the day, but waking and getting started is very difficult for me. Any suggestions? I see a psychiatrist every month, and get my hopes up every time, but I'm wondering if increasing the medicine is really the answer.
Avatar f tn I'm bipolar 1 and have been on 160 MG of geodon for 16 yrs and it has stopped working for me.
Avatar n tn I went a few months without any medication, before receiving a prescription for Geodon. GEODON IS A TERRIBLE DRUG. I took 20 mg a day for four days, and during those four days (and for several days after) I experienced lightheadedness/feeling faint, headache, nausea, loss of appetite, akathesia, irregular/rapid heart beat, racing thoughts, EXTREME anxiety, insomnia, and flu like symtoms. All of these were so debilitating, it was difficult for me to even get up and walk around.
Avatar f tn jHas anyone tried taking two antidepressants along with a mood stabilizer and had good results? I'm currently taking Depakote and Cymbalta, but thinking of adding Prozac for added depression benefits. I'm also on an antipsychotic, Geodon.
Avatar f tn She was on Geodon 80 mg (gained 30lbs and no improvement) and zoloft 50mg... with all the other stuff she was on. That was from August until mid December. For "psychosis" which turned out to be rapid eye movement from Lithium when she was manic. She has been off the Geodon and the Zoloft for 2 months and is back stable.
Avatar m tn I have been on Geodon for about two years and my hair is coming out in handfuls.
Avatar n tn He is having severe memory problems. Is it due to Geodon? He has schizoaffective disorder. He was also put on cogentin and inderal.
735919 tn?1236444549 thank you for the info on Lamictal, but does anyone take Geodon? I take 40mg Geodon and Lamictal. I do feel so much better, but i was wondering more about the Geodon side effects. I feel alittle more anixous im wondering if it is the Geodon.
Avatar f tn Any medication can sometimes take a week or two or longer to take full effect while some will take effect instantaneously. It all depends on the person of course. When I took Geodon I sometimes would "drool and stumble" figuratively for the former (felt really dumb some days) and literally for the latter (dragged my feet and sometimes felt drunk).
Avatar m tn I can definitely relate to what you're going through. I've been on a number of medications--Depakote, Cymbalta, Lamictal and Geodon. The combination doesn't seem to help no matter how much my psychiatrist raises the dose. In my case, I have no insurance, so I just have to be patient. It's hard after feeling this way for 3 years. If I were you, I'd give it some more time, because I've heard that ECT makes you lose your memory, etc. Let me know how you do.
Avatar f tn Does anyone know of any medications other than Geodon, Depakote and Lexapro to treat Bipolar? I have been depressed for over 3 years, and I've also tried Lithium, Lamictal, Cymbalta and Buspar. I wake up dreading the day, and I feel very anxious all day, like I don't want to stay unoccupied. My thoughts are all about how I'm never going to beat this thing; it feels almost like something alien has taken over my brain. I also can't yawn anymore.
1202354 tn?1267655734 I decided to work out on the 7th and it was not a good idea I started to work out and I started to sweat than stopped and started getting goose bump and got really dizzy so I stopped and sat down, aparently this combintaion of medication blockes the ability to sweat and put the body temp very high!!! so I decided I would not take this medication anymore....
Avatar n tn Today is my fifth day on Geodon and I have been doing massive research on it to find out as much as I can about its pharmacology and effects. My question is: if Geodon causes constipation, will taking a stool softener decrease its absorption? Also: I understand it must be taken with food, what fiber/fat gram goal should be met before taking it?
Avatar m tn Then, about 2 ½ years ago I had a near-psychotic meltdown, mostly about the devil and evil spirits, and was diagnosed with OCD and prescribed Anafranil and Zyprexa, which helped with the irrational thinking and obsessive thoughts a little. Between now and then, I have been diagnosed with OCD, Social anxiety disorder, GAD, major depressive disorder, ADHD, and most recently, aspergers/high functioning autism.
Avatar n tn There is a cautionary note to alert the doctor if there is a history of seizures on Geodon. I am assuming that your psychiatrist is seeing both you and your son as his patients. ILADVOCATE gave you good advice to address your concern to the doctor. When prescribing meds or treatment, if there are any concerns or noteworthy precautions regarding the meds or treatment, information like instructions on what to watch out for and information is given along with the prescription of treatment.
