Generalized anxiety with shortness of breath

Common Questions and Answers about Generalized anxiety with shortness of breath

anxiety

Avatar f tn Over the last 4-5 months or so, I have lost a lot of energy. I have felt weak, had shortness of breath, my body has felt heavy, and I've also had some tingling in my arms/hands/fingers. Some days I'm totally okay, and some days (like today) it's as though I cannot even move. My body feels heavy, I'm having a bit of trouble breathing, my chest feels a bit weird. This is not anxiety related.
15440293 tn?1440620337 So since the 8th of this month, Basically over 3 weeks now, I have been experiencing almost daily shortness of breath where it feels like I cannot get enough air. It mostly occurs with minimal exertion like standing up, yelling, laughing, climbing up a flight of stairs, etc. The day it started I was sitting down as a passenger in the car and on a phone call when all of a sudden it felt like I could'nt breathe or catch my breath and hard to finish my sentence.
Avatar f tn I know anxiety can cause shortness of breath, but in my later pregnancy I got shortness of breath all the time!
Avatar n tn I am 24 year old female with a history of panic attacks and high anxiety. I have been a pack-a-day smoker since I was 18. Lately I have been experiencing a shortness of breath that doesn't seem to go away and is making my anxiety worse. I have been to the doctor and expressed my concern about this, but they seem to be chalking it all up to my anxiety symptoms. My o2 stats have been in the normal range (usually 97-98%), but I feel I am not breathing normally.
Avatar f tn re basically of sound health, your overall anxiety level should be reduced- being diagnosed with anxiety gives you somewhere to start. For myself, chest pains were freaking me out- when I learned that I had general anxiety, the chest pains stopped, and my doc and I then got to work on treating the anxiety- just knowing what was wrong was a big relief.
Avatar n tn That could be the burping and I have heard it can cause shortness of breath as well. You might want to check tht out. Sometimes shortness of breath can bring ON an anxiety attack not create one..... oh well. Hope you can figure it out. Let us know. Have they put the little tube through your nose and down your throat? That checks for GERD and all, so maybe if it keeps us suggest that.
Avatar n tn Yes it could and perhaps your next task is to have a long chat with your Doctor to find out what's causing the anxiety. Just to warn you, most people with anxiety long term end up with heart disease. I would get it under control now.
Avatar m tn Is there any history in your family with heart problems? I have to say I think a lot of this may be from anxiety... You wouldn't believe the things anxiety can do to you both mentally and physically. Plus it also seems as though you have a lot of stress right now too with not being employed and worrying about your health.
Avatar n tn I've been through all the heart, blood vessel, lung testing and nothing has come back with problems. I have just started having episodes of shortness of breath and find that I'm trying to yawn all the time just to get a good breath. When tested my oxygen levels were fine. When these episodes become bad I find that my blood pressure also raises. I normally have a BP of 110/70 but ended up in ER when it rose to 183/100 and that's when it really became difficult to catch my breath.
Avatar m tn Could shortness of breath due to anxiety last all day everyday? How severe could the shortness of breath be?

Avatar f tn Has anyone else experienced shortness of breath while taking a shower. It just happened to me. I was showering and the water wasnt hot at all nor cold and all of the sudden i felt like I couldn't breath. I got so scared that I rushed out of the shower. This is the first time I felt this way. I've suffered from anxiety for three years now. But like I said i've never had this shortness of breath after that my heart was pounding. Ive been somewhat stressed lately.
Avatar m tn Shortness of breath that occurs randomly, as you describe it, “30 seconds after you begin to play the drums”,yet doesn’t bother you or prevent you from jogging several K’s is most likely not on the basis of heart or lung disease. It is most likely on the basis of anxiety, as you almost suggest. Anxiety needn’t be accompanied by an uncomfortable feeling, body shaking or a tremulous voice. It can be rather silent and occur with what are called panic disorder.
Avatar n tn However, they are not to be taken lightly and MUST be discussed with your Dr. Shortness of breath and chest pains can be symptoms of Heart Problems. I have had a Heart Attack and know what to expect, and I was not overly concerned. But I did immediately discuss this with my Dr.
Avatar f tn If a person experiences excessive anxiety or worry due to two or more life circumstances, a person might experience shortness of breath from anxiety. In lung diseases like asthma or pulmonary tuberculosis, a person will often experience difficulty in breathing. The shortness of breath due to anxiety in such lung disease can occur. LBBB will cause PVC but it shouldn't cause shortness of breath. However, if serious it can reduce the cardiac output, etc.
1204528 tn?1588786333 Considering there is not much information on such an interaction, I think you were right in suggesting anxiety to be the most likely cause of the shortness of breath. What made me think otherwise was that on the previous occasion, it was when zopiclone (again metabolized by CYP3A4) was on that the symptoms occurred. So the cause is likely to be one of the meds. Probably diclofenac, but we can’t rule out carbamazepine either.
Avatar f tn Why am i still having anxiety as well as shortness of breath after having partial thyroidectomy done for hyperthyroid 3 weeks ago? I thought it would all go away afterwards =/ Can any one tell me reasons why this is still happening? Please.
Avatar m tn I went to nose specialist and he said there was a little infection, however he said the shortness of breath was again because of anxiety. He gave me sleeping pills. Now, i had another short of breath and i didn't think it was anxiety. What happen?
338416 tn?1420045702 I have never had the shortness of breath thing with the MS. It's always dangerous to blame everything on MS, so please tell your doctor what is going on. This may be something else...altogether. Never can be too safe girl...
Avatar m tn A year ago I started having a problem with shortness of breath, so much so that I ended up in an ER. I have shortness of breath associated with anxiety or anxiety associated with shortness of breath. They got my oxygen level back up and did chest X-rays. When I left there the ER doctor had determined that I had Emphysema. That scared the hell out of me but what else should I have expected.
Avatar m tn However because of the shortness of breath, i am getting anxiety and when it worsens bad, I have panic attacks. I have not driven by myself further than 5-10 min from home for about almost a year now. I do not go out much, I do not fly. I am usually not like this, I like to go out, i LOVE driving to anywhere.. however since this shortness of breath and anxiety not so much. When its bad I feel really weak, and heavy, I feel like Im about to faint. But lately it has gotten worse.
Avatar m tn I have the shortness of breath all the time, but it does get worse if I clean the house, talk for a long time, or even walking in the mall. I just don't know what on earth is going on, and I'm constantly worrying about what this could be. The lung specialist said he thinks it's asthma. I really want a CT Scan to ease my mind of anything bad that could be going on, so I did mention that. The Dr. said my chest X-Ray was clear, so I don't need that..........
Avatar m tn Shortness of breath can be a symptom of serious heart or lung disease but, especially when accompanied by yawning and is lessened by “”increased physical activity, standing, walking or just moving around” it is highly likely to be a reflection of anxiety. You didn’t mention what your doctor thought or recommended but, because of the possibility these symptoms are more secondary to physical disease, it would be wise to follow your doctor’s advice.
10391405 tn?1412718263 Yea during my last pregnancy I went to the ER because I thought I was having a heart attack a few times. I think the shortness of breath is worse for those of us who are prone to panic or anxiety attacks. All I can say is take deep breaths and pray it goes away, it don't work but it is about all you can do.
Avatar n tn my symptoms are mainly shortness of breath and the feeling that i am gearing up for another heart attack. the shortness of breath is scary and hard to deal with. I went ot the doctor and now have xanax .25 (smallest dose). it's only good for 4 hours at a time, but it takes the edge off the panic and stops that not feeling like i can't breathe. Big deep breaths from the stomach (don't let your shoulders move up and down) help too.

Avatar f tn I am a 24 years old male, and I've never had any problem with my heart or lungs before. Since almost a year ago, I've being filling short sensations of shortness of breath and at the same time the need to have a bowel movement. I also feel anxiety and little dizziness like I am going to pass out. I thought I had hypertension, but my BP is always around 130/70. This happened to me when I am working ( landscape, construction), driving, lying down. I don't know what should I do.
