Avatar n tn Also, what is the likelyhood of complications? We are very concerned that if he proceeds with such an invasive surgery that his post surgical quality of life could be diminished. We are uncertain if our concerns are valid. Any information you could provide us with would be appreciated. Thank you for your time.
Avatar f tn t really see any similarity between general anes. for a surgical procedure and ECT. Kindest regards .....
Avatar m tn Thanks for your reply.I haven't seen the cardiac surgeon yet and will obviously take on the best advice.I must admit that my anxiety levels are rather high at the moment.I'll keep following the info on this site. Thanks again.Baz.
Avatar f tn Surgical repair for torn meniscus of L' Knee. 3 months post-op it buckled, caused tear during fall to R' Knee and meniscus was surgically repaired but has also failed, although the surgeon refuses to order an MRI to "prove" this latest injury. Pain is an issue as I am allergic to all pain meds ordered to date and take nothing for the pain levels of 9-10. Before injury both knees were healthy, minimal arthritic changes on MRI's in spite of age 58 and obesity.
Avatar f tn The orthopedic surgeon has said that he thinks he can save my ACL ligament via an operation without the use of a graft. He said by doing this type of operation it will be much better in terms of healing ect. I have to do this operation within 8 weeks of the injury occurring or he said it isn't possible and I would have to have a different operation. I have been trying to research this style of operation but I can only find the option where it talks about using a graft from other body parts.
418466 tn?1207114132 Do NOT attempt to remove this drain by yourself. I can understand another vet wanting the surgical report, but it shouldn't stop them from treating your dog. That doesn't sound right to me at all. If you're having problems finding a competent vet, you could try starting with your local SPCA or Humane Society. Explain the situation to them and I'm sure they'll come up with a vet who will happily get this thing safely out of your dog's ear.
Avatar f tn Your best advice can be obtained from your Oncologist and NOT videos and articles that deal in general terms with no relation to your particular situation. Thanks ......
Avatar f tn Hi My CA125 in April this year was 109, repeated 4 weeks later was 253, then repeated 3 weeks later was 448.5. I had the first one done in April as part of general health check, although then I was going to have hysterectomy as planned surgical procedure for known large adenomyoma. Because of rising CA 125, I had an urgent CT abdomen and pelvis.
Avatar n tn My surgeon has suggested laprascopic colon removal with small intestine reconnected to rectum because some of the polyps were/are pre cancerous. Is this a serious/difficult operation and how will it affect my daily habits and life style? I am 70 years old, very active, thin, and in incredibly good health except for a chance colonoscopy that found a kazillion polyps, albeit without any symptoms. What went wrong, how do polyps develop, how can I rid myself of them besides and operation?
Avatar f tn Since you have pain where the stitches are, and you have proof they did not use dissolvable stitches, AND no one will touch the situation, you can most certainly take this up with the people who did the operation, that doc could remove the stitches probably as an outpatient in his office, depending on what else might be going on in that spot.
Avatar n tn My missed beats began after an operation - I took a long time to come round after the general anaesthetic and was later found to have 'multiple ectopics'. If you feel you are having arrythmia, you should see a doctor. They will do tests like an ecg, an echicardiogram, or a stress test - this will give them a very good idea whether your problems are serious or not.

Avatar n tn This is a patient forum - so as a layman, I cannot give you any definitive information on the report. Any information I give you is pure guess. In general, to my knowledge, the drugs to reduce a mass like that would be along the lines of chemotherapy. She *probably* has lost vision and hearing due to the mass effect and the location of the tumor - and so why have they not taken action to remove or radiate the tumor? What do you mean by *no source*?
Avatar f tn You are suffering from one of the post surgical complications.I think you might be suffering from TASS( Toxis Anterior Segment syndrome) or maybe you are suffering from Infectious endopthalmitis. You can differentiate between the two as follows: ONSET. Usually, TASS has an earlier onset (ie, 12 to 24 hours after surgery) than infectious endophthalmitis( appearing 4 to 7 days post operation). CULTURES. Cultures can determine whether the inflammation is infectious or not.

Avatar f tn t have regular exercise due to a herniated disc, that can decondtion your general health as well the cardiovascular system. Talk to your doctor about some type of exercise program for you with your condition. Better to have surgical treatment for your back problem as soon as possible because it will not get better without an operation.

Avatar f tn A nerve block is used during the operation which means that immediately after the operation the shoulder and arm may feel numb. This may last a few hours. After this the shoulder may well be sore and you will be given pain killers to help this whilst in hospital. These can be continued after you are discharged home. Ice packs may also help reduce pain. Wrap frozen peas or crushed ice in a damp, cold cloth and place on the shoulder for up to 15 minutes.
329165 tn?1515471990 s stomach must be empty a certain amount of time before the operation as this is important for safety for any operation. The surgeon conducting the operation would be able to detail specifics. With surgical procedures I know in the U.S. you can meetwith the surgeon beforehand and the anesthesiologist. They prepare you for the procedure. They can speak with your general physician and if needed your psychiatrist as well with release forms.

Avatar m tn Unfortunately, it recurred in 2006 in the peritoneum, putting her in the stage 4 category. She did a surgical debulking with a general oncological surgeon. Since then, she was on chemo treatments once every 2 weeks or sometimes every week. CA125 came down from a couple thousand to 20. Somehow, in 2006, it creeped back up and she did a second surgery, followed by chemo. Once in awhile she would skip one or two chemos.
Avatar f tn I am currently 36 week pregnant with my first child, I have also had heart surgery age 4.... Doctor has said that my heart is fine to have a normal birth and suggested General anaesthetic. Has anyone been through this? Will I end up having a emergency c-section? Should I take the general anaesthetic? I'm so worried :( but also wishing my baby girl was here.
Avatar m tn Every surgical operation has its risks depending on your age or if you have other comorbid conditions (hypertension, diabetes, stroke, etc). Complications include difficulty of breathing, heart problems, kidney problems during or after the operation, though these can be minimized with proper pre-operation evaluation (usually by an internist, or cardiologist).
