gastroenteritis

Avatar f tn I went to the doc after 5 days. He said its just viral gastroenteritis. I looked up the condition and it says you have vomiting and/or diarrhea, but i have neither. I am worried it is appendicitis, but the appendix is on the right side, not left. I am really in pain but i am taking my meds as described. Does this sound like viral gastroenteritis to you? I am in such severe pain just laying here typing this and barely moving.. Please help. Thank you.
1872406 tn?1320890391 We rescued a little kitten approx 6 weeks old who has been diagnosed with viral gastroenteritis. The prognosis by the vet is poor and I'm wondering if there is anything else we can do other than keep her hydrated and treat/prevent secondary infections. Please help- really appreciate any advice or past experience that you may have... Thanks in advance...
Avatar f tn Viral gastroenteritis symptoms may appear 1-3 days after you are infected and can range from mild to severe. Symptoms usually last just a day or two, but occasionally they may persist as long as 10 days. Because the symptoms are similar, it is easy to confuse diarrhea caused by viruses with diarrhea caused by bacteria (e.g., Clostridium difficile, salmonella, and E. coli) or parasites (e.g., giardia). If your symptoms persist, see your doctor for further workup and management.
Avatar f tn Viral gastroenteritis is an intestinal disease set apart by watery the runs, stomach spasms, sickness or retching, and once in a while fever. The most widely recognized approach to create viral gastroenteritis — frequently called stomach influenza — is through contact with a tainted individual or by ingesting debased nourishment or water.

Avatar n tn If in fact this is a herpes recurrance, and this is where I will be getting them in the future, is the prodrome stage/viral shedding usually a day before outbreak or less? I have read other posts that the entire anogenital area can be shedding during prodrome. Is it shedding more where the outbreak is about to occur? Thirty six hours before this last possible outbreak, my husband slept naked next to me.
Avatar m tn the symptoms are signs of prodrome, and it is apparently proven that viral shedding is not only possible but elevated during early infection.....why can't a swab be taken of the genitals (even without blisters) and tested for the virus (PCR)? A negative test would seem to clarify that the symptoms are not herpes related. That would maybe relieve the anxiety that is causing the symptoms right? ???
Avatar f tn Your symptoms could be due to a number of things which are difficult to assess on net. It could be due to viral fever, gastroenteritis or stomach flu, acidity, or anxiety and stress. If you are feeling nauseous, then you can take antacid gel. Talk to your parents as discussing your worries often helps. Also, exercise, walking, yoga is therapeutic. You should see a doctor who can examine you to find the cause. Take care!
Avatar n tn -loose watery bowel movements -low fever -abdominal cramps -aching muscles/ possibly headaches If diarhea and vomiting persist for more than 2 days see your Doctor. Avatar f tn Started 4 months ago with a bad stomach bug which I couldn’t shift for ages and drs thought was gastroenteritis. Had feelings of fatigue and weakness accompanying and some dizziness. Then about 6 weeks ago I started getting really tight neck muscles and tingling numbish arms and hands in the mornings upon waking which went away after getting up and moving. Also had twitches all over in feet calves thighs stomach arms and face which really frighten me.
Avatar f tn I'm about 6-7 weeks and my morning sickness is horrible. Unless I take nausea meds I throw up every 30 min and can't keep anything down. At the ER they said I had viral gastroenteritis but that was over a week ago. Does anyone have morning sickness this bad??
Avatar f tn Assuming the symptoms are acute, this is likely to be a case of viral gastroenteritis. You could try taking plenty of fluids to keep yourself adequately hydrated and some OTC anti spasmodics for the pain. If the pain is severe, of you have dizziness or blood in stools or the diarrhoea does not seem to get better in 4-5 days, it is advised to see a primary care physician for an accurate diagnosis and appropriate management. Hope this helps. Take care!
Avatar n tn I am currently fighting a case of gastroenteritis, is there any connection and should I go back to the Dr?
Avatar f tn One more question, is it safe to have anal sex with someone who has genital herpes?
Avatar n tn Hello, Some symptoms of viral infection of the abdomen like in viral gastroenteritis may prolong for some time(10-12) days after treatment of infection also. This is due to effect of virus on the stomach causing its irritation. Since it happened after a viral infection,so causes could be dehydration and decreased amount of minerals like sodium and potassium in the body.It can also occur because of hypoglycemia or improper sleep during the infection.
Avatar f tn The next day I had two more episodes of watery diarrhea, severe nausea and felt lightheaded and dizzy, I went to my GP and was diagnosed with viral gastroenteritis and given a liter of NS. I started to feel better for 2 days then suddenly had severe nausea and extreme dizziness not vertigo more a lightheaded presyncopal feeling. I rested in bed for a day thinking it would resolve but it only worsened along with loss of appetite, weakness, fatigue, feeling tired.
Avatar f tn I do not understand whether this is prodrome, outbreak or asymptomatic viral shedding?? Anybody having similar symptoms?? I took valtrex for 10days first time I got diagnosed and that's it. I did all other blood tests and urine test to rule out any allergies and thyroid and kidney functions. All ok. For the past week I have been having more severe symptoms as above including leg pain and muscle pain in lower back and discharge. Could I get sores on scalp?
Avatar m tn Sometimes I get what I believe are prodrome symptoms (A bit of skin sensitivity at the bottom of my rib cage or around my abdomen and around my right eye socket). Most times when I get these symptoms it rarely leads to any cold sore outbreak with actual blisters. (As a side note I have been told that these prodrome symptoms are more common with HSV 2 but I have been tested for HSV 2 and I am negative).

When she was born she was perfectly healthy, but once I had to return to work I began to give her formula and that's when she began to have these complications.
