Avatar f tn I went to the doc after 5 days. He said its just viral gastroenteritis. I looked up the condition and it says you have vomiting and/or diarrhea, but i have neither. I am worried it is appendicitis, but the appendix is on the right side, not left. I am really in pain but i am taking my meds as described. Does this sound like viral gastroenteritis to you? I am in such severe pain just laying here typing this and barely moving.. Please help. Thank you.
1872406 tn?1320890391 We rescued a little kitten approx 6 weeks old who has been diagnosed with viral gastroenteritis. The prognosis by the vet is poor and I'm wondering if there is anything else we can do other than keep her hydrated and treat/prevent secondary infections. Please help- really appreciate any advice or past experience that you may have... Thanks in advance...
Avatar f tn Viral gastroenteritis symptoms may appear 1-3 days after you are infected and can range from mild to severe. Symptoms usually last just a day or two, but occasionally they may persist as long as 10 days. Because the symptoms are similar, it is easy to confuse diarrhea caused by viruses with diarrhea caused by bacteria (e.g., Clostridium difficile, salmonella, and E. coli) or parasites (e.g., giardia). If your symptoms persist, see your doctor for further workup and management.
Avatar m tn I am taking bactrim for a UTI. I also have a sore throat. No scratchiness or raw feeling. It just hurts to swallow. (Like when a piece of potato chip gets stuck going down.) Doctor yesterday took a swab but said bactrim doesn't work for upper respiratory infections. However, she didn't give me an other antibiotic. I don't have fever. But she said the bactrim may be preventing me from having fever. When I looked on line, it said that bactrim is prescribed for upper respiratory.

Avatar f tn Day 32 my throat was very sore with a lot of pain in my ears and swollen lymph nodes in my throat and I went to a clinic at the drug store (doctor was closed) and they gave me bactrim and sent me home. The next two days the throat and ear pain continued with some fever and night sweats. I continued on the bactrim at two a day and on the 9th day of the medication (day 42) I broke out in a rash all over my body.

Avatar f tn Started 4 months ago with a bad stomach bug which I couldn’t shift for ages and drs thought was gastroenteritis. Had feelings of fatigue and weakness accompanying and some dizziness. Then about 6 weeks ago I started getting really tight neck muscles and tingling numbish arms and hands in the mornings upon waking which went away after getting up and moving. Also had twitches all over in feet calves thighs stomach arms and face which really frighten me.
Avatar f tn I'm about 6-7 weeks and my morning sickness is horrible. Unless I take nausea meds I throw up every 30 min and can't keep anything down. At the ER they said I had viral gastroenteritis but that was over a week ago. Does anyone have morning sickness this bad??
Avatar f tn Assuming the symptoms are acute, this is likely to be a case of viral gastroenteritis. You could try taking plenty of fluids to keep yourself adequately hydrated and some OTC anti spasmodics for the pain. If the pain is severe, of you have dizziness or blood in stools or the diarrhoea does not seem to get better in 4-5 days, it is advised to see a primary care physician for an accurate diagnosis and appropriate management. Hope this helps. Take care!
Avatar f tn (no relief) i went to the immediate care and my primary care doctor prescribed bactrim ds 8oo (1 tab bid for 10 days) and fluocinonide topical solution for my scalp. after 6 doses of the bactrim, my scalp was healed. then, my nipples itched for a week, the itching spread to my entire body. i stopped taking the bactrim and continued with the benadryl for a little over a week. the itching stopped and now have started again but it is localized on my stomach only. what can i take now.
Avatar n tn I am currently fighting a case of gastroenteritis, is there any connection and should I go back to the Dr?
Avatar n tn could the Bactrim be causing me to feel so tired (no rash or jaundice or anything listed in the serious side effects portion of the pamphlet that came with the Bactrim)? Also, after 5 days of Bactrim should symptoms of a prostate infection be improving? I am hesitant to call my Dr. about my possible reaction to the Bactrim because I don't want to become labeled a "difficult patient". Any advice you could offer would be great.
Avatar n tn Hello, Some symptoms of viral infection of the abdomen like in viral gastroenteritis may prolong for some time(10-12) days after treatment of infection also. This is due to effect of virus on the stomach causing its irritation. Since it happened after a viral infection,so causes could be dehydration and decreased amount of minerals like sodium and potassium in the body.It can also occur because of hypoglycemia or improper sleep during the infection.
Avatar f tn The next day I had two more episodes of watery diarrhea, severe nausea and felt lightheaded and dizzy, I went to my GP and was diagnosed with viral gastroenteritis and given a liter of NS. I started to feel better for 2 days then suddenly had severe nausea and extreme dizziness not vertigo more a lightheaded presyncopal feeling. I rested in bed for a day thinking it would resolve but it only worsened along with loss of appetite, weakness, fatigue, feeling tired.
551604 tn?1333983135 Your symptoms may improve before the infection is completely cleared. Bactrim will not treat a viral infection such as the common cold or flu. Antibiotic medicines can cause diarrhea, which may be a sign of a new infection. If you have diarrhea that is watery or has blood in it, call your doctor. Do not use any medicine to stop the diarrhea unless your doctor has told you to. Avoid exposure to sunlight or artificial UV rays (sunlamps or tanning beds).

When she was born she was perfectly healthy, but once I had to return to work I began to give her formula and that's when she began to have these complications. She began to have watery diarrhea and vomit. I took her to the doctor and they said she had gastroenteritis, but it's been a while now and she is still the same? Does anyone know what could possibly be wrong? Thank you.
Avatar n tn I went up there and took her to the doctor and she was basically told is was a stomach virus (gastroenteritis) drink plenty of fluids and it should go away in a couple of days but when I look up Gastroenteritis it says that it's common in people with weaken immune system caused by HIV. She took her 3 month birth control shot the morning before but I'm sure that didn't cause Gastroenteritis. My question is should I be concerned about HIV at this point.
Avatar n tn Hello! I seem to have unfortunately caught gastroenteritis. I was given Ondansentron and it helped immensely. However, I can't sleep. I'm so wired and my stomach still hurts but luckily, no side effects. Is this normal? Is it the gastroenteritis or the drug?
Avatar m tn Hi - This isn't exactly an infectious disease (or is it), but I had no idea where else to place this question in the forum. I developed a VERY sudden and severe swelling of my thumb on Xmas eve, the digit was hot, red and the pain nearly intolerable. I went to the ER where she froze my hand and proceeded to prick my finger in various places to see if pus would come out.
