Avatar n tn I went up there and took her to the doctor and she was basically told is was a stomach virus (gastroenteritis) drink plenty of fluids and it should go away in a couple of days but when I look up Gastroenteritis it says that it's common in people with weaken immune system caused by HIV. She took her 3 month birth control shot the morning before but I'm sure that didn't cause Gastroenteritis. My question is should I be concerned about HIV at this point.
Avatar n tn My daughter is 14 months old and she has has watery diarrhea and vomitting. When she was born she was perfectly healthy, but once I had to return to work I began to give her formula and that's when she began to have these complications. She began to have watery diarrhea and vomit. I took her to the doctor and they said she had gastroenteritis, but it's been a while now and she is still the same? Does anyone know what could possibly be wrong? Thank you.

Avatar n tn Hello! I seem to have unfortunately caught gastroenteritis. I was given Ondansentron and it helped immensely. However, I can't sleep. I'm so wired and my stomach still hurts but luckily, no side effects. Is this normal? Is it the gastroenteritis or the drug?
Avatar f tn Medical Care * Daily cleaning, without forceful retraction of the foreskin, is the only treatment necessary for phimosis in patients without urinary obstruction, hematuria, or preputial pain. * * Treatment with topical corticosteroids is effective in separating the loose adhesions found between the glans and the foreskin. * * In 2001, French researchers Berdeau et al used data from form published reports and from claims by private hospitals for children <13 years.
475300 tn?1312423126 All I have left as a reminder is a little bit of nerve damage (no big deal, just a burning feeling in hands). It is quite possible that treatment triggered another problem for you, or that you are dealing with some other condition that is not related. I guess your best bet is to work with your doctors to try and figure it out. If someone else has similar symptoms, hopefully they will post. Good luck anyway.
Avatar f tn With treatment bacterial is cured in 1-2 weeks..viral will last longer. There are vaccines now .The type of anti biotic depends on the type of pneumonia she has , as she has only taken the meds for a few days I would continue as prescribed but if indeed she seems worse and her temperature climbs it may be aswell to have her checked out again ..
454366 tn?1211245301 Monitoring the dosage is critical to proper lithium treatment. I have been on 300mg in the a.m., and 600mg in the p.m. and my liver and thyroid are both fine. I also take (in treatment of bipolar mania) 60mg Geodon 2x's daily, 1mg Ativan 3X a day, and .25mg Xanax 3X daily (as needed). Since I increased my Geodon to twice daily, I feel like a new person. The lithium is the most benign of my drugs. It's the Geodon I hate.
Avatar f tn I looked up treatment of children after the above post. It appears that there are centers that specialize in treatment of children with liver disease. It isn't recommended that children under 3. Triple treatment isn't approved for treatment in children. The current treatment approved for children is Peg and ribavirin. There is lots to consider before treating someone so young. I personally would not unless it was life threatening. Remember people can live with hepatitis C.
Avatar n tn Especially since treatment for Churg-Strauss involves steroidal immunosuppresent therapy that could prove fatal in the presence of a parasite such as Strongyloides, as autoinfectious parasites such as Stronglyloides florish when the immune system is repressed, leading to rapid infection in atypical organs leading to organ failure. Avatar n tn To diagnose the underlying cause and origin of vertigo in children, an MRI or CT scan of the brain and skull are usually recommended. In addition, your child also undergo a complete physical and examination by a physician with special focus on a test known as the Dix-Hallpike maneuver which will help to narrow the complication into either nerve damage or brainstem involvement.
Avatar n tn I have copied this out for you, it happens quite frequently While there are uncommon serious causes of passing out in children, the majority of fainting episodes are brought about by reasons that are neither serious nor life-threatening. The most common reason for fainting in children is called vasovagal syncope [VAY-so-VAY-gull SEENK-oh-pee). Vasovagal syncope is an abnormal reaction of the nerves to otherwise normal circumstances. These nerves dictate the heart rate and blood pressure.
Avatar n tn Gastroenteritis can be produced from viral, bacterial and parasitic infections, contaminated food or water or change in bacteria that normally live in the intestinal tract.Chest pain that you are having is due to radiation of pain. Take adequate fluids throughout the day. The BRAT diet (ie, bananas, rice, applesauce, toast) or soft easily digestible semisolid diet can also be taken. You also need a course of antibiotics like ciprofloxacin or metronidazole. Hope it helps.

Avatar n tn Gastroenteritis can be produced from viral, bacterial and parasitic infections, contaminated food or water, food poisoning, use of harsh laxatives, change in bacteria that normally live in the intestinal tract, chemical toxins in certain plants, seafood, or contaminated food, and heavy metal poisoning. Take adequate fluids throughout the day. The BRAT diet (ie, bananas, rice, applesauce, toast) or soft easily digestible semisolid diet can also be taken.
Avatar n tn Well certain viral infections can cause hemolyzed blood in urine. Check again in a day or two. If this persists then go back to your doctor. UTI and stone are the commonest cause. Cancers of urinary system or some drugs too cause blood in urine. Hope this helps. Please let me know if there is any thing else and do keep me posted. Take care!
Avatar f tn On day 7 of a severe case of gastroenteritis. Everything seems to have calmed down, but once I try and eat anything stomach cramps start, which are unbearable. Sometimes followed by diarrhoea. Is this normal after a severe case of gastroenteritis or do I need to see my G.P again?
Avatar f tn It sounds like a bout of Gastroenteritis (stomach flu). I don' t think your FTM HRT has a role in this. Can you post some details, regarding your history of Epilepsy? Treatment, meds and any other details. Not that I believe, it has much to do with your symptoms in your post, but perhaps I can offer you some further insight.
Avatar m tn they had no effect i then left for madrid, spain for about a week when i returned and went to the emergency room i was vomitingdown to bile and allthough i had been constipated for the whole trip in spain i suddenly started having water like bowel movements. when i went to the emergency room they first gave me an x-ray and said my pancreas was swolen then they gave me a contrast ct-scan in wich the said my boweld were swolen they diagnosed me with collitis. when i went and saw a gastro.
Avatar m tn I was wondering if anyone out there was also diagnosed with this at any point in their life? I recently went to the ER because I became violently ill, and didn't put the pieces together until now. When I was around 8 I was diagnosed with this, usually I was vomiting or had diarrhea almost every day for a long time. It seemed to stop, but I always still had diarrhea where most people would have regular bowel movements. It worries me that this condition could be coming back in force.
