Avatar n tn The doctor is also clueless and told me it might be due to severe dehydration and infection that has risen my blood sugar level. So, dear dctor, was it indeed due to severe dehydration and gastroenteritis infection that has produced such abnormal blood sugar level or was it due to wrong test method? i have little doubt on the quality of that hospital becos it is run by christain society and it touched my heart becos of quality service and fantastic hospitality i have received there.
Avatar f tn Hello, Without examination it is very difficult to confirm a diagnosis, but some of the possibilities for your symptoms are gastroenteritis and dehydration. Drink plenty of water as dehydration can lead to electrolyte imbalance which in turn can lead to low BP and hence dizziness. Hypoglycemia, anemia, infections, endocrine disorders like thyroid, adrenal glands, and pituitary gland disorders can also lead to dizziness and nausea. What about your last menstrual periods.
Avatar n tn Hello, Some symptoms of viral infection of the abdomen like in viral gastroenteritis may prolong for some time(10-12) days after treatment of infection also. This is due to effect of virus on the stomach causing its irritation. Since it happened after a viral infection,so causes could be dehydration and decreased amount of minerals like sodium and potassium in the body.It can also occur because of hypoglycemia or improper sleep during the infection.
Avatar n tn s for 4 yrs It began when my husband was dying.I spent 4 days in the hospital with electrolytes out of balance due to dehydration from uncontrollable diahrrea and vomiting; diagnosed as Acute Gastroenteritis. A year ago I began having intermittent bouts of vomiting bile every few months. Have been on all PPI's and Acid Reflux controlled pretty well but still have vomiting episodes. What's your recommendation?
3166043 tn?1514260018 This is likely to be a viral gastroenteritis which should subside on its own in 5-10 days. I would suggest taking plenty of fluids with added sugar and salt/ commercially available oral rehydration solution to compensate for the fluids lost. If the symptoms do not settle in 5-10 days or there is development of additional symptoms such as blood in stools, I would suggest an evaluation by a primary care physician for appropriate management.
Avatar f tn I am recovering from a recent bout of what seemed to be gastroenteritis. I had constant diarrhea for 5 days, plus nausea and crampy pains in my stomach and bowel. I was hospitalised for severe dehydration, where numerous bloods were taken. Results showed a slightly elevated white cell count. My issue is that even though I am feeling slightly better 3 days later and have resumed eating, my stomach is behaving strangely.
Avatar f tn Nausea can be seen after head injury due to any concussion and can be diagnosed through magnetic resonance imaging. Drink plenty of water to avoid dehydration. See a primary care physician. He may further refer you to a neurologist or other specialist depending on your clinical findings. Do keep me posted. Best luck and regards!
Avatar n tn s Disease or one of the Irritable Bowel / Gastroenteritis conditions. Night sweats, Nausea, Abdominal Pain are also associated with these conditions.
Avatar f tn I was hospitalized a few years ago with severe vomiting, diarrhea, abdominal pain and dehydration. I was diagnosed with gastroenteritis and acute pancreatitis. This is the only major GI problem I have ever had. I am very slender, 105 pounds, so I was wondering if maybe it was normal to feel a lump during digestion just because I am skinny and it's easy to feel my anatomy, or if I should be more concerned. Thanks!
1711722 tn?1356487554 Hi everyone. Is anyone else feeling MORE dehydrated as treatment goes on?? I am on VIC. Even with my water intake, I noticed earlier this week (Week 10) that my lips were chapped, my skin is dry and my hair is parched. Time for some changes again. Any recommendations?? Thanks for your thoughts. Oh, since beginning VIC, I also have this weird side effect of milky white stuff in the corner of my eyes. Doesn't hurt or itch, but I wondered if anyone else had this side. Thanks.

Avatar n tn My daughter is 14 months old and she has has watery diarrhea and vomitting. When she was born she was perfectly healthy, but once I had to return to work I began to give her formula and that's when she began to have these complications. She began to have watery diarrhea and vomit. I took her to the doctor and they said she had gastroenteritis, but it's been a while now and she is still the same? Does anyone know what could possibly be wrong? Thank you.
Avatar n tn I went up there and took her to the doctor and she was basically told is was a stomach virus (gastroenteritis) drink plenty of fluids and it should go away in a couple of days but when I look up Gastroenteritis it says that it's common in people with weaken immune system caused by HIV. She took her 3 month birth control shot the morning before but I'm sure that didn't cause Gastroenteritis. My question is should I be concerned about HIV at this point.
Avatar n tn Hello! I seem to have unfortunately caught gastroenteritis. I was given Ondansentron and it helped immensely. However, I can't sleep. I'm so wired and my stomach still hurts but luckily, no side effects. Is this normal? Is it the gastroenteritis or the drug?
396278 tn?1207693392 I have RAI treatment on Tuesday. I don't know what to expect as far as how it will affect my body. I have Eosinophilic Esophagitis on top of this which is an autoimmune disorder that causes my esophagus to become inflamed with eosinophils. Now, my question is this: for people who have diseases that are similar or kindof similar (any inflammatory diseases) and have had RAI treatment, did the radiation make you hurt where you were inflamed?
Avatar f tn If you are having vomiting and diarrhea, it is most likely a stomach bug, or gastroenteritis. The biggest worry is dehydration. Try to stay hydrated, drink lots of fluid and get lots of rest. If you are unable to keep anything down, they may have you be seen for I'VE fluids. I'm in WI too so I hear you on the snow storm! Avoid heavy foods, stick to clear liquids like broth and bland foods like toast or rice. And plenty of water!!!
Avatar n tn If you are passing stools a lot and have stomach pain then in all probability you have either food poisoning or gastroenteritis. Take an OTC lactobacillus preparation and yoghurt with your meals. Drink plenty of fluids. Eat light, do not stay hungry but eat simple things like toast, porridge, cereals, crackers etc. Take ORS. Take over the counter antacid and antiemetic (this SOS for vomiting). Watch out for a day or two with this treatment.
3122657 tn?1357432602 I guess I just started cutting back on the water since my treatment was going pertty well for me and trust me it did effect me in a big way I'm 3 days just drinking water and Gatorade just to be able to function and now still drinking to catch up its just better to have a steady flow of fluid into your body rather then play catch up

Avatar n tn Hi all, Ill try to keep it short and to the point, but I've had a horrible two months August 10th I fell quite ill. I was at a festival so at first GP assumed food poisoning, my symptoms were diarrhea (which became bloody after a week), vomiting, sweats, weakness and fatigue. My GP did stool samples which showed nothing, but blood tests showed signs of infection so I was given Ciprofloxacin. I couldn't eat at all for 10 days, and I lost 22lbs in just under 2 weeks.
Avatar m tn It's winter and of course the dryness from the treatment is way out of control. One problem I've had is that my ear channels get really dry and itchy. Of course, you can't scratch an itch in your ear (at least not effectively). I remembered something an ENT told me a few years ago and picked up a bottle of pure glycerine. I pour a bit in my ear every few days and it provides total relief.
Avatar m tn Has anyone experienced an increase in dehydration and skin dryness after tx? I am just at 2 weeks post tx and still fatigued as expected this early but I've noticed that my skin, nasal passages, mouth, and lips are dryer than they ever were on tx. (or maybe I was just to out of it to notice) I've kept up my water intake as I did with tx and lately I'm drinking even more. Never had cracked lips or dry mouth the entire tx but now it has really set in. Why now? Very strange drugs.
Avatar f tn On day 7 of a severe case of gastroenteritis. Everything seems to have calmed down, but once I try and eat anything stomach cramps start, which are unbearable. Sometimes followed by diarrhoea. Is this normal after a severe case of gastroenteritis or do I need to see my G.P again?
