Avatar n tn I went up there and took her to the doctor and she was basically told is was a stomach virus (gastroenteritis) drink plenty of fluids and it should go away in a couple of days but when I look up Gastroenteritis it says that it's common in people with weaken immune system caused by HIV. She took her 3 month birth control shot the morning before but I'm sure that didn't cause Gastroenteritis. My question is should I be concerned about HIV at this point.
Avatar n tn My daughter is 14 months old and she has has watery diarrhea and vomitting. When she was born she was perfectly healthy, but once I had to return to work I began to give her formula and that's when she began to have these complications. She began to have watery diarrhea and vomit. I took her to the doctor and they said she had gastroenteritis, but it's been a while now and she is still the same? Does anyone know what could possibly be wrong? Thank you.
Avatar n tn Hello! I seem to have unfortunately caught gastroenteritis. I was given Ondansentron and it helped immensely. However, I can't sleep. I'm so wired and my stomach still hurts but luckily, no side effects. Is this normal? Is it the gastroenteritis or the drug?
Avatar f tn (The hollow right under your ribs, in your upper stomach) Other symptoms include nausea, vomiting, fever, malaise and general aches and pains. For most people symptoms subside within 1-3 days but you're contagious much longer. You can still pass the virus through your stool for 2 weeks or so and it can survive on surfaces for a long time too. Just take it easy, eat bland foods and rest a lot.
Avatar m tn Hi, Fletch, I smoked pot before I knew I had hep c, through treatment and post treatment did me no harm and my liver fibrosis reversed when smoking it, I'm not sure if its good for late stages of liver fibrosis though, Have you had treatment ?
Avatar m tn Hello. I had an endoscopy yesterday and just want your opinion on the findings.... ESOPHAGUS - INTACT MUCOSA DOWN TO THE EG JUNCTION WHICH COINCIDES WITH THE Z LINE AT 40 CM LEVEL. STOMACH - THE LUMEN IS EMPTY WITH INTACT RUGAL FOLDS. THERE ARE PATCHES OF HYPEREMIA AT THE CORPUS AND ANTRIUM. BIOPSIES FOR RAPID UREASE TEST WERE TAKEN. THE PYLORIC RING IS ROUND AND DISTENSIBLE.
Avatar n tn If you are passing stools a lot and have stomach pain then in all probability you have either food poisoning or gastroenteritis. Take an OTC lactobacillus preparation and yoghurt with your meals. Drink plenty of fluids. Eat light, do not stay hungry but eat simple things like toast, porridge, cereals, crackers etc. Take ORS. Take over the counter antacid and antiemetic (this SOS for vomiting). Watch out for a day or two with this treatment.
Avatar f tn In October of last year, I had a COMPLETE abdominal checkout. Upper and Lower Ultrasound..and then both a colonoscopy and endoscopy...and all were normal...so the chances of it being anything "major" are about non existant. The last time I had this was about 2 months ago. Now today I wake up feeling nauseaous again..some belching, and just feel...drained. Ive read that people try Pepto bismol....? Anybody have this same problem?
Avatar f tn Every day since I went to the hospital to get checked out I was found out with gastroenteritis and 1 week later taking pills it went away. Now ever since then I've been going to the bathroom and what I've. Noticed is that my poop is yellow and floats. I think I may have malabsorption but I'm not to sure. I'd go to the doctor but my parents wouldn't wanna take me as I had gone to the doctor 4 weeks ago. I'm 14 and I'm overweight for my age. I'm 210 Pounds.
475300 tn?1312423126 A lot of people report long-term side effects attributed to the treatment drugs although "nausea and throwing up" don't come to mind as very common. As Mike suggests, your doc should check your thyroid and in fact you should have a full work up. GERD (chronic reflux) and/or some type of ulcer also comes to mind. GERD btw can present itself without heartburn. Also, you might want to sift through these links on long-term side effects in our "Health Pages".
Avatar f tn I just finished Sovaldi and olysio and no hair loss at all, in fact hair looked great I do have hypothyroid which is familial, mother , daughters have it, Check your thyroid levels That can effect hair loss, dryness etc( even my eye brows and under arms thinned from hypothyroidism ) You may need to be on thyroid medication such as synthyroid if it is off
Avatar f tn only convention - but it works well, and is considered a cure (basically, you are non-infections, and not sick). Conventional treatment can be rough though. Homeopathic remedies are just water, that's all they are. You can spend your money on them if it makes you feel better, but realize, that you are buying water.
Avatar f tn Watch out for a day or two with this treatment. If still the symptoms persist, then you may need an antibiotic for the gut and would need to see a doctor. If after the antibiotic course too the symptoms persist, then there is a chance that you have developed either IBS or some food intolerance. In that case you would need to consult a gastroenterologist. Please go through as advised. In all probability things will settle down.
Avatar f tn Viral gastroenteritis symptoms may appear 1-3 days after you are infected and can range from mild to severe. Symptoms usually last just a day or two, but occasionally they may persist as long as 10 days. Because the symptoms are similar, it is easy to confuse diarrhea caused by viruses with diarrhea caused by bacteria (e.g., Clostridium difficile, salmonella, and E. coli) or parasites (e.g., giardia). If your symptoms persist, see your doctor for further workup and management.
Avatar f tn Beside blood and tissue eosinophilia, peripheral neuropathies, cutaneous manifestations, eosinophilic alveolitis and gastroenteritis are frequently found. In contrast to the hypereosinophilic syndrome, Churg-Strauss syndrome is defined by the presence of systemic vasculitis. However, frequently symptoms related to eosinophilia are (mis)interpreted as indirect signs of vasculitis.

Avatar n tn Thanks in advance for your insight and guidance. In March I suddenly found myself with a range of new diagnoses after being completely healthy 45 year old male with no medical history. In March 2009 I was diagnosed with Eosinophilia (40%), Hypogammaglobulinemia low IgG (407) after going to the doctor with stomach pain and alcohol intolerance (0.5 ounce of wine or whiskey would trigger a violent attack within minutes, while grape juice does not cause an attack).
Avatar n tn I had a transfusion when I was 2 days old and that was the culprit. I started treatment with interferon and ribavirin 27 weeks ago and, even though it can be a struggle, I am getting through it. Treatment isn't for everyone but it is definitely an option to consider. Avatar n tn You probably had a mild case of food poisoning with your system throwing out all the disagreeable stuff from your stomach or it could also be gastroenteritis.
Avatar f tn I went to the doc after 5 days. He said its just viral gastroenteritis. I looked up the condition and it says you have vomiting and/or diarrhea, but i have neither. I am worried it is appendicitis, but the appendix is on the right side, not left. I am really in pain but i am taking my meds as described. Does this sound like viral gastroenteritis to you? I am in such severe pain just laying here typing this and barely moving.. Please help. Thank you.
1788584 tn?1315106518 Secondly Acid reflux gives you very bad stomach ache and usually lasts for a short time and you can possible be sick with it but feel much better straight away without diarroe and sickness ectr. I no this as i suffer from acid reflux myself. The term Gastroenteritis springs to mind as you say you have been sick and been havin toilet issues. This usually clears up within a few days and its like havin a flu virus or stomach bug.
