gastroenteritis

Avatar f tn Hi It could be a case of gastroenteritis (gut infection) which has led to diarrhea and vomiting. The main symptoms of gastroenteritis are diarrhea and vomiting although one or the other symptom may predominate. If the symptoms persist (>1 day), worsen or lead to other complications you should consult your doctor who could order some tests such as stool examination etc. In the meanwhile take rest and drink lots of fluids to avoid dehydration.
Avatar f tn I too have a hiatal hernia & IBS. Last week I woke up with terrible stomach pain and went to the bathroom feeling likei needed to poop. My heart was racing, I was sweating & felt like I was going to vomit because my mouth was watering. I bent over to spit in the trash can & passed out and fell off the toilet. When I woke up my son was knelt down beside me on the phone with 911. Went to ER and they said I had vasovagal syncope & gastroenteritis.

Any input would be greatly appreciated.
Avatar n tn Blood transfusions are safe these days, you're stuck on the fear of a transfusion based on incidents where people acquired HIV early on in the epidemic. The blood supply is safe, your daughter has no HIV concerns. You need to listen to your daughter's doctor and seek some professional help for yourself to help you move on. It sounds like she has a stomach flu, which is in NO way related to HIV.
Avatar n tn Hello! I seem to have unfortunately caught gastroenteritis. I was given Ondansentron and it helped immensely. However, I can't sleep. I'm so wired and my stomach still hurts but luckily, no side effects. Is this normal? Is it the gastroenteritis or the drug?
Avatar n tn What should I be looking for regarding symptoms of this disease? He is one of two cats abandened after a fire. The other is a american short hair female. The female was not diagnosed with the disease at two years of age and was vaccinated.
Avatar m tn Your persisting symptoms of abdominal pain, nausea and vomiting could indicate a viral gastroenteritis. The other causes could be jaundice if there is yellowish discoloration of skin, food poisoning if the symptoms occurred shortly after taking food, peptic ulcer disease and sometimes cholecystitis and pancreatitis. Please consult your primary care physician for further evaluation. In the meantime take oral fluids and include plenty of yogurt in your diet.
Avatar f tn Viral gastroenteritis symptoms may appear 1-3 days after you are infected and can range from mild to severe. Symptoms usually last just a day or two, but occasionally they may persist as long as 10 days. Because the symptoms are similar, it is easy to confuse diarrhea caused by viruses with diarrhea caused by bacteria (e.g., Clostridium difficile, salmonella, and E. coli) or parasites (e.g., giardia). If your symptoms persist, see your doctor for further workup and management.
Avatar m tn AIDS acute period will appear similar to the symptoms of acute gastroenteritis? Symptoms lasted for about four days, infusion improvement in 3 days. It is the acute phase of AIDS symptoms?
Avatar f tn But its specifically on my side, not my back or tummy. Its been a week since symptoms started. Symptoms include a constant achy feeling in the area, sharp pains in the area when i lay down or move positions or laugh or cough. I went to the doc after 5 days. He said its just viral gastroenteritis. I looked up the condition and it says you have vomiting and/or diarrhea, but i have neither. I am worried it is appendicitis, but the appendix is on the right side, not left.
Avatar m tn The feeling was so uncomfortable that I had to skip class and go home. I was flushed, sweating profusely and just felt very uneasy. There was an urge to vomit but it never came. Eventually it went away but came back. I've now been experiencing this feeling for 7 or 8 days now. The feeling tends to peak in the morning and at night but still remains throughout the day. I have no personal or family history of GI problems.
Avatar m tn I would agree that it is far more likely that your symptoms are due to a gastroenteritis that ARS. I would say this is the case for three reasons. They are: 1. Your exposure was no risk. HIV is not spread without penetration and the simple act of getting a partner's genital secretions on you, even near a site such as your anus, is still no risk. 2. Your partner said he did not have HIV and most people do tell the truth about such things. 3.

Avatar f tn Hello, Excessive sweating is called hyperhydrosis. Excessive sweating in the face can result from an overactive sympathetic nervous system, sometimes due to substance abuse. Mild social stimuli with stress can cause excessive facial sweating which can also involve the scalp and the neck. Endoscopic thoracic sympathicotomy is a very effective way to treat severe facial sweating. http://www.endsweat.com/hyperhidrosis.

Avatar n tn My doctor said I have gastroenteritis. However, these symptoms have been persistent now for 10 days. Gastroenteritis usually lasts about 3-7 days. Is it possible that I aquired HIV from the prostate massage and my symptoms of nauseau, diareah, fever and night sweats are really ARS? My last HIV test was 9 months ago and it was negative. Avatar f tn You need to be monitored closely by a hepatologist. The symptoms that you describe are symptoms of your liver not working well causing you to become more and more ill. Having a hepatologist in a liver transplant center means that as you become more ill, you will already be an established patient in the transplant center, and you will have the right team of people around you. As Hector mentioned, it is important for you to know the exact state of the health of your liver.
Avatar f tn I also have anxiety because before I was diagnosed with gastroenteritis I would be searching up my symptoms on the internet so I pretty much scared myself half to death with all the things I saw. Now my poop floats, is yellow, and when I flush the toilet the strikes of poop stick to the sides. I don't know what I might have. Thank you for taking you're time to read my summary.
