1770029 tn?1325802355 Hi and sorry you are ill. There is no such thing as "stomach flu" meaning the influenza virus does not cause flu in the stomach. It is considered gastroenteritis. The symptoms of diarrhea, vomiting, low grade fever up to 100 degrees and possible cramps are caused by many things, virus or bacterial. However, the most common cause is a virus called Norovirus. It is spead from person to person by fecal oral contamination.

Avatar n tn s doctor and seek some professional help for yourself to help you move on. It sounds like she has a stomach flu, which is in NO way related to HIV. For starters, if she HAD had an HIV risk (which she didn't), her symptoms are not at all consistent with symptoms of acute HIV infection, both in the nature of the symptoms and the timing. You need to let this concern go, and most definitely do not worry your daughter and cause HER to be anxious about nothing.
Avatar f tn It could be related to a reaction to something in one of the meals/snacks from Nutrisystem, or more likely it could be a bout of stomach flu which is not really a flu. It's proper name is viral gastroenteritis. Usually gastroenteritis resolves within a few days. You should suspend the Nutrisystem program for now, stay hydrated and follow a bland diet-dry toast, rice broth or plain rice, bananas, applesauce also known as BRAT diet (acronym).
Avatar f tn It sounds like a bout of Gastroenteritis (stomach flu). I don' t think your FTM HRT has a role in this. Can you post some details, regarding your history of Epilepsy? Treatment, meds and any other details. Not that I believe, it has much to do with your symptoms in your post, but perhaps I can offer you some further insight.

Avatar f tn Good info. The term stomach "flu" is actually erroneous (that's not a dig at you, everyone uses that). Almost all stomach "flus" are viral in nature, and have nothing to do with influenza. Unless someone is diagnosed with actual influenza, they don't have a "flu". That's one of those terms that has just grown over the years. Handwashing is THE most effective way to stop the spread of communicable diseases and infections.

Avatar f tn Your symptoms could be due to a number of things which are difficult to assess on net. It could be due to viral fever, gastroenteritis or stomach flu, acidity, or anxiety and stress. You should see a doctor who can examine you to find the cause. Take care!
Avatar f tn Viral gastroenteritis symptoms may appear 1-3 days after you are infected and can range from mild to severe. Symptoms usually last just a day or two, but occasionally they may persist as long as 10 days. Because the symptoms are similar, it is easy to confuse diarrhea caused by viruses with diarrhea caused by bacteria (e.g., Clostridium difficile, salmonella, and E. coli) or parasites (e.g., giardia). If your symptoms persist, see your doctor for further workup and management.

Avatar n tn Hello, Diarrhea and vomitings can be provoked either by an intestinal infection or by illness somewhere else in the body. When they begin suddenly, the problem is usually gastroenteritis (or stomach flu), most often caused by a virus and sometimes by bacteria and parasites. Gastroenteritis is an irritation and infection of the digestive tract. It can often cause sudden and sometimes violent upsets and may be confused with spastic colitis.
Avatar n tn For the past year, I've had chronic diarrhea, nausea, severe belching (no bloating though), nausea and vomiting off and on, low grade fevers, and my stomach makes horrible, loud watery gurgling noises all day. It all started with an "intestinal flu" that EVERYONE in my workplace contracted last March, (right after a co-worker's dog suffered an "intestinal infection" which cleared with metronidazole.).
Avatar n tn Hello! I seem to have unfortunately caught gastroenteritis. I was given Ondansentron and it helped immensely. However, I can't sleep. I'm so wired and my stomach still hurts but luckily, no side effects. Is this normal? Is it the gastroenteritis or the drug?
Avatar f tn Common viruses that cause cold flu or stomach flu can cause nausea and headache. There may be other associated signs like runny nose, diarrhea, fever, body aches which may be suggestive of a viral illness. Migraine can cause nausea, severe headache and there may be extreme sensitivity to light. Nausea, severe headache with neck stiffness can be suggestive of meningitis. Avatar f tn s more probable that it is stomach acids and mucus. They little information you have given does not fit the classic symptoms of GERD. You may have gastroenteritis. However there are many things to consider and it may not be that at all. Please approach your parents for an appointment with your physician. He/she can begin the diagnostic procedure. You may be referred to a pediatric gastroenterologist. Feel free to let us know how you are doing.
Avatar f tn Hi It could be a case of gastroenteritis (gut infection) which has led to diarrhea and vomiting. The main symptoms of gastroenteritis are diarrhea and vomiting although one or the other symptom may predominate. If the symptoms persist (>1 day), worsen or lead to other complications you should consult your doctor who could order some tests such as stool examination etc. In the meanwhile take rest and drink lots of fluids to avoid dehydration.
Avatar n tn ve been diagnosed with bacterial infection in my stomach after i went to the hospital to check out stomach pains. Yesterday night i had a fever with about 37.8 Celsius and right now my chest hurts and the inside feels like it itches. What should I do? Is it because the infection has traveled? or the chest pain is because of the spreading infection?
Avatar m tn ) I got what I presumed was a bad case of either food poisoning or gastroenteritis (stomach flu). Before bed, even though I felt a bit queezy, I had a serving of yoghurt. My stomach ached, but I've experienced this before after yoghurt, so I wasn't worried and promptly fell asleep. Several hours later I woke up with stomach cramps, gas pains and the irresistible urge to vomit. I rushed to the bathroom and started (violently) puking. Shortly thereafter I also got watery diarrhea.
