Avatar f tn Viral gastroenteritis symptoms may appear 1-3 days after you are infected and can range from mild to severe. Symptoms usually last just a day or two, but occasionally they may persist as long as 10 days. Because the symptoms are similar, it is easy to confuse diarrhea caused by viruses with diarrhea caused by bacteria (e.g., Clostridium difficile, salmonella, and E. coli) or parasites (e.g., giardia). If your symptoms persist, see your doctor for further workup and management.
Avatar n tn Blood transfusions are safe these days, you're stuck on the fear of a transfusion based on incidents where people acquired HIV early on in the epidemic. The blood supply is safe, your daughter has no HIV concerns. You need to listen to your daughter's doctor and seek some professional help for yourself to help you move on. It sounds like she has a stomach flu, which is in NO way related to HIV.
Avatar n tn Hello! I seem to have unfortunately caught gastroenteritis. I was given Ondansentron and it helped immensely. However, I can't sleep. I'm so wired and my stomach still hurts but luckily, no side effects. Is this normal? Is it the gastroenteritis or the drug?
Avatar n tn What should I be looking for regarding symptoms of this disease? He is one of two cats abandened after a fire. The other is a american short hair female. The female was not diagnosed with the disease at two years of age and was vaccinated.
Avatar f tn But its specifically on my side, not my back or tummy. Its been a week since symptoms started. Symptoms include a constant achy feeling in the area, sharp pains in the area when i lay down or move positions or laugh or cough. I went to the doc after 5 days. He said its just viral gastroenteritis. I looked up the condition and it says you have vomiting and/or diarrhea, but i have neither. I am worried it is appendicitis, but the appendix is on the right side, not left.
Avatar m tn AIDS acute period will appear similar to the symptoms of acute gastroenteritis? Symptoms lasted for about four days, infusion improvement in 3 days. It is the acute phase of AIDS symptoms?
Avatar f tn t wait to test. How long after the trigger shot did you have the IUI? Mine was after only 13 hours... afraid it was too early...
Avatar n tn The doctor prescribed me amoxilin, an antibiotic for medication. He said the chest pain could be from a cold. They're hoping its not a infection in my lungs. My stomach pains are almost gone, but the chest pains are still remaining, and my cold symptoms worsened. I'm waiting until tomorrow to see how I feel, then i will decide whether to get a xray for my chest.
Avatar n tn Welcome to the gastroenterology community! The symptoms of norovirus are the symptoms of gastroenteritis. These include stomach, pain, diarrhea, vomiting, etc. I don't believe it is running around california now.
Avatar m tn around 2 months ago i started having cold/flu symptoms i tried to treat them herbally with umka cold care wich i found at wholefoods echinacea and emergen-c. they had no effect i then left for madrid, spain for about a week when i returned and went to the emergency room i was vomitingdown to bile and allthough i had been constipated for the whole trip in spain i suddenly started having water like bowel movements.
Avatar m tn I would agree that it is far more likely that your symptoms are due to a gastroenteritis that ARS. I would say this is the case for three reasons. They are: 1. Your exposure was no risk. HIV is not spread without penetration and the simple act of getting a partner's genital secretions on you, even near a site such as your anus, is still no risk. 2. Your partner said he did not have HIV and most people do tell the truth about such things. 3.
Avatar f tn Lipase can stay elevated for a couple of weeks after a bout of gastroenteritis or pancreatitis. How long has it been?
693811 tn?1245871706 My husband recently had a bout of gastroenteritis and he had the same pain, but he also had N/V which I have not had. I did have chills, which are relieved by vitamin C (several grams per day). The hospital I work in has had a very slow moving gastroenteritis going through patients and staff. I thought I had that already and it was just gut pain and was relieved with much yogurt. This virus seems to have a long incubation period. It's nothing like Norwalk.
Avatar f tn Finally, your symptoms do not suggest a new HIV infection, which does not cause gastroenteritis as the only problem; as you seem to know, you didn't have any of the usual symptoms of ARS. But most important, your negative test results, especially the one at 7 weeks, prove you didn't catch HIV. A negative rapid test, either fignerstick or oral fluids, is just as reliable as a lab-based test. Something other than HIV is the cause of your gastroenteritis.
Avatar n tn My daughter is 14 months old and she has has watery diarrhea and vomitting. When she was born she was perfectly healthy, but once I had to return to work I began to give her formula and that's when she began to have these complications. She began to have watery diarrhea and vomit. I took her to the doctor and they said she had gastroenteritis, but it's been a while now and she is still the same? Does anyone know what could possibly be wrong? Thank you.
Avatar m tn When I was around 8 I was diagnosed with this, usually I was vomiting or had diarrhea almost every day for a long time. It seemed to stop, but I always still had diarrhea where most people would have regular bowel movements. It worries me that this condition could be coming back in force.
Avatar f tn Hi It could be a case of gastroenteritis (gut infection) which has led to diarrhea and vomiting. The main symptoms of gastroenteritis are diarrhea and vomiting although one or the other symptom may predominate. If the symptoms persist (>1 day), worsen or lead to other complications you should consult your doctor who could order some tests such as stool examination etc. In the meanwhile take rest and drink lots of fluids to avoid dehydration.
Avatar f tn I experienced fatigue, nausea, loss of appetite, and very bad indigestion. Yesterday when symptoms started, I took zofran. I have emetophobia. I have since taken two more zofran and Pepto. No vomiting or diarrhea, but I did wake up with a bad headache. I haven’t eaten a lot lately. Does this mean I will be sick for a longer period of time? How will the virus shed?
Avatar f tn Well, unfortunately, you can be contagious a few days to up to two weeks after a stomach bug. But usually it is 3 days. However, she may have had gastroenteritis, etc. which isn't contagious. I'd say you are in the clear but good hygiene to prevent illness is always a good idea.
