Avatar n tn Blood transfusions are safe these days, you're stuck on the fear of a transfusion based on incidents where people acquired HIV early on in the epidemic. The blood supply is safe, your daughter has no HIV concerns. You need to listen to your daughter's doctor and seek some professional help for yourself to help you move on. It sounds like she has a stomach flu, which is in NO way related to HIV.
Avatar f tn It sounds like a bout of Gastroenteritis (stomach flu). I don' t think your FTM HRT has a role in this. Can you post some details, regarding your history of Epilepsy? Treatment, meds and any other details. Not that I believe, it has much to do with your symptoms in your post, but perhaps I can offer you some further insight.
Avatar f tn It could be related to a reaction to something in one of the meals/snacks from Nutrisystem, or more likely it could be a bout of stomach flu which is not really a flu. It's proper name is viral gastroenteritis. Usually gastroenteritis resolves within a few days. You should suspend the Nutrisystem program for now, stay hydrated and follow a bland diet-dry toast, rice broth or plain rice, bananas, applesauce also known as BRAT diet (acronym).

Avatar f tn HIV is a virus that you get from specific activities (unprotected vaginal and anal sex or sharing of IV drug needles). Your flu symptoms have nothing at all to do with HIV. HIV is not diagnosed by symptoms any way. However, you DID have unprotected sex which means you had a risk and need to test. You'll have to wait until 28 days past when this happened and you can take a DUO 4th generation test. But having sex one time unprotected is a low risk. So, try not to worry.
Avatar f tn Your symptoms could be due to a number of things which are difficult to assess on net. It could be due to viral fever, gastroenteritis or stomach flu, acidity, or anxiety and stress. If you are feeling nauseous, then you can take antacid gel. Talk to your parents as discussing your worries often helps. Also, exercise, walking, yoga is therapeutic. Avatar f tn html Green stools can be due to diarrhea caused by salmonella bacteria, certain food and food dyes, swallowed post nasal drip if there are associated cold symptoms, Giardia infection or due to viral gastroenteritis. It is difficult to comment beyond this at this stage without examining. You shouldyou’re your stool examined. It is unlikely to be due to the medication. Avatar n tn Hello, Diarrhea and vomitings can be provoked either by an intestinal infection or by illness somewhere else in the body. When they begin suddenly, the problem is usually gastroenteritis (or stomach flu), most often caused by a virus and sometimes by bacteria and parasites. Gastroenteritis is an irritation and infection of the digestive tract. It can often cause sudden and sometimes violent upsets and may be confused with spastic colitis.
Avatar n tn Hello! I seem to have unfortunately caught gastroenteritis. I was given Ondansentron and it helped immensely. However, I can't sleep. I'm so wired and my stomach still hurts but luckily, no side effects. Is this normal? Is it the gastroenteritis or the drug?
Avatar f tn I initially thought it might have been stomach flu but none of his other family members in their small condo have caught it. They all ate the same thing for lunch so it isn’t food poisoning. What could it be?

Avatar n tn What should I be looking for regarding symptoms of this disease? He is one of two cats abandened after a fire. The other is a american short hair female. The female was not diagnosed with the disease at two years of age and was vaccinated.
Avatar m tn t know where else to put this, but I was recently switched from Morphine 60mg ER to the Fentanyl Duragesic patch. I thought the weird flu like symptoms might be a result of the new drug, but apparently it has to be withdrawal from the Morphine. I'm kind of miffed neither the doctor nor pharmacist even mentioned this could happen. I was naive and thought the new medication wouldn't create an issue with the switch, I was wrong.
Avatar n tn For the past year, I've had chronic diarrhea, nausea, severe belching (no bloating though), nausea and vomiting off and on, low grade fevers, and my stomach makes horrible, loud watery gurgling noises all day. It all started with an "intestinal flu" that EVERYONE in my workplace contracted last March, (right after a co-worker's dog suffered an "intestinal infection" which cleared with metronidazole.).
Avatar n tn Stomach flu can cause indigestion and abdominal discomfort. Viral gastroenteritis can lead to nausea, abdominal pain and diarrhea. The exact location of pain and other details will help in determining the accurate cause .Take light meals. Avoid spicy fried foods. If the symptoms are severe consult a gastroenterologist. Best of luck and regards!
Avatar f tn About 4 days ago now, still no vomiting, no more diarrhea but rather one full day of constipation — proper diet for when having flu-like symptoms, slowly eating more, proper hydration, etc., all taken care of — but the head feeling...still present. Next day, all flu-like symptoms are gone but the head feeling still there, As it is today. It feels heavy, tingling, headache-like at times, tired (always. As if I haven't slept, even when I have). I feel slow, foggy, sluggish...
Avatar f tn Definitely go see a doctor. It could be a sleep disorder, a neurological problem, or an infection.
Avatar f tn Viral gastroenteritis symptoms may appear 1-3 days after you are infected and can range from mild to severe. Symptoms usually last just a day or two, but occasionally they may persist as long as 10 days. Because the symptoms are similar, it is easy to confuse diarrhea caused by viruses with diarrhea caused by bacteria (e.g., Clostridium difficile, salmonella, and E. coli) or parasites (e.g., giardia). If your symptoms persist, see your doctor for further workup and management.
