allmy dr told me was that certin quinolones do give false positives. my med was biaxin xl 500mg. but that was all he would tell me. he seemed to be really busy. now i need to find out if that is one of the 13 quinolones. if you can assist me further please do so. or advize me where to search.

I have read that Steroids should not be taken by people whom have been floxed by Quinolones. Do you know anything about this?
The doctors do not want to admit or agree that floxing is caused by the Quinolones even though the prescription sheet from the pharmacy states so. I am absolutely sure that it is in my case. My symptoms started 8 years ago when I was improperly diagnosed with carpal tunnel. Since then I have been given Cipro and Levaquin for sinus infections.
r n they did blood work n a ultrasound which came back normal. I was think gallbladder stones idk.. So doctor diagnose me with gastroenteritis prescribe me pain killers. N next morning with the dull pain that comes n goes. Ouch! Is it normal???? Im scared im praying to god to please let it not be nothing else..
My daughter is 14 months old and she has has watery diarrhea and vomitting. When she was born she was perfectly healthy, but once I had to return to work I began to give her formula and that's when she began to have these complications. I went up there and took her to the doctor and she was basically told is was a stomach virus (gastroenteritis) drink plenty of fluids and it should go away in a couple of days but when I look up Gastroenteritis it says that it's common in people with weaken immune system caused by HIV.
She took her 3 month birth control shot the morning before but I'm sure that didn't cause Gastroenteritis. My question is should I be concerned about HIV at this point.
Hello! I seem to have unfortunately caught gastroenteritis. I was given Ondansentron and it helped immensely. However, I can't sleep. I'm so wired and my stomach still hurts but luckily, no side effects. Is this normal? Is it the gastroenteritis or the drug?
Yep, some can. Amoxicillin can cause a positive for cocaine, Quinolones (like Cipro) can cause a positive for amitriptyline and opiates, A couple other less common antibiotic classes can cause positives too. Did this happen to you?
It depends on where the joint pain is. Joint pain in the area of your ribs, chest or back might be normal if you are coughing a lot. Some medications can cause joint pain as well. Probably best to check in with your primary doc, they may want to check some blood work.
On day 7 of a severe case of gastroenteritis. Everything seems to have calmed down, but once I try and eat anything stomach cramps start, which are unbearable. Sometimes followed by diarrhoea. Is this normal after a severe case of gastroenteritis or do I need to see my G.P again?

Take adequate fluids throughout the day. The BRAT diet (ie, bananas, rice, applesauce, toast) or soft easily digestible semisolid diet can also be taken. Antimicrobial therapy is indicated for some bacterial gastroenteritis infections.
Peripheral Neuropathy is a rare adverse reaction to quinolones. I have reported this to the FDA and to McNeil. The waring statement says (may be reversible if treated in time). Another just says irreversible. The 2004 warning from the FDA states: "{the drug} should be discontinued if the patient experiences symptoms of neuropathy . . . in order to prevent the development of an irreversible condition.
