About 9 weeks ago I was in Nigeria for a few days and I came down with what looked like a bad case of food poisoning (I ate chicken & rice and later sushi). By the evening I had the following sudden symptoms:
- Intense vomiting
- Intense diarrhea
- Fever
- Back pains
For the next few days I felt very weak and nauseous and from that point on I did not recover.

I went up there and took her to the doctor and she was basically told is was a stomach virus (gastroenteritis) drink plenty of fluids and it should go away in a couple of days but when I look up Gastroenteritis it says that it's common in people with weaken immune system caused by HIV.
She took her 3 month birth control shot the morning before but I'm sure that didn't cause Gastroenteritis. My question is should I be concerned about HIV at this point.

Hello! I seem to have unfortunately caught gastroenteritis. I was given Ondansentron and it helped immensely. However, I can't sleep. I'm so wired and my stomach still hurts but luckily, no side effects. Is this normal? Is it the gastroenteritis or the drug?

I also live currently in Nigeria. You need to have further tests done. HBSAG quant usually reported in Copies per ml, HBV DNA, Alt/ast.
Unfortunately theres no place in Nigeria to have HBSAG quant done just yet. Only option is to send blood samples to India. A lab called Hightech labs. You cld google this.

Stand your ground but try to be nice about it so there isn't any bad blood. Tell her your reasonings and tell her to skype or facebook (if possible) the family in Nigeria if she wants them to meet the baby that bad. also let her know your reasonings you don't want your baby kissed on the mouth. unsanitary, if anyone is sick that baby can get sick, its weird. Lol Hopefully she'll understand. If she's still persistent all you can say it this its my child and my rules.
My doctor has been in Africa for the last 2 months she's been in Nigeria and Kenya should I be concerned about her continuing being my doctor?
to know the amount of hbsag and your genotype as well. update me if get a lab that runs test for hbsag quantity in Nigeria.
He said I could have conducted viral load ( which here in Nigeria cost around 130 USD) before starting taking lamivudine. He said after I do the virus load now he may consider putting me on interferon alpha but I preferred tenofovir or entacavir( which are not yet available here in Nigeria). Please advise accordingly.
