Avatar f tn It can cause mild to extreme pains anywhere in your abdomen, though most feel it epigastrically. (The hollow right under your ribs, in your upper stomach) Other symptoms include nausea, vomiting, fever, malaise and general aches and pains. For most people symptoms subside within 1-3 days but you're contagious much longer. You can still pass the virus through your stool for 2 weeks or so and it can survive on surfaces for a long time too. Just take it easy, eat bland foods and rest a lot.
Avatar n tn I went up there and took her to the doctor and she was basically told is was a stomach virus (gastroenteritis) drink plenty of fluids and it should go away in a couple of days but when I look up Gastroenteritis it says that it's common in people with weaken immune system caused by HIV. She took her 3 month birth control shot the morning before but I'm sure that didn't cause Gastroenteritis. My question is should I be concerned about HIV at this point.
Avatar n tn Since Feleuk can cause problems anywhere in the body, the symptoms would depend upon where the disease is located. For example in the gastroenteritis form, anywhere from the mouth to the anus can be effected. There could be mouth problems such as stomatitis, chronic periodontal disease, in addition to vomiting and diarrhea. In the polyarthritis, immunosuppressive form, a cat could have lameness, joint swelling and pain.
Avatar n tn Hi there. Starting on 3AM last Friday, I started having symptoms of what I thought was the flu going around. Diarrhea, vomiting, fever (101.5), muscle aches (mild to severe), sweats and chills, stiffness, weakness, some dizziness, no appetite. I automatically assumed it was the influenza virus but in almost everywhere I read, it says a cough and/or sore throat almost always follow. I've had neither, nor have I had any chest pain.
Avatar n tn Hello! I seem to have unfortunately caught gastroenteritis. I was given Ondansentron and it helped immensely. However, I can't sleep. I'm so wired and my stomach still hurts but luckily, no side effects. Is this normal? Is it the gastroenteritis or the drug?
Avatar m tn AIDS acute period will appear similar to the symptoms of acute gastroenteritis? Symptoms lasted for about four days, infusion improvement in 3 days. It is the acute phase of AIDS symptoms?
Avatar f tn Viral gastroenteritis symptoms may appear 1-3 days after you are infected and can range from mild to severe. Symptoms usually last just a day or two, but occasionally they may persist as long as 10 days. Because the symptoms are similar, it is easy to confuse diarrhea caused by viruses with diarrhea caused by bacteria (e.g., Clostridium difficile, salmonella, and E. coli) or parasites (e.g., giardia). If your symptoms persist, see your doctor for further workup and management.
Avatar f tn But its specifically on my side, not my back or tummy. Its been a week since symptoms started. Symptoms include a constant achy feeling in the area, sharp pains in the area when i lay down or move positions or laugh or cough. I went to the doc after 5 days. He said its just viral gastroenteritis. I looked up the condition and it says you have vomiting and/or diarrhea, but i have neither. I am worried it is appendicitis, but the appendix is on the right side, not left.
Avatar m tn Hello, doctors. I'm a young, sexually active gay male. From time to time I meet a man from the Internet and engage in safer sex practices like fellatio (mostly with me performing it) and mutual masturbation. I never engage in anal sex with these men, and I always, always ask about HIV status. My last test was two months ago and the result was negative. So, normally, I'm not very worried about HIV. However, I have a concern that I hope you can address.
Avatar n tn My daughter is 14 months old and she has has watery diarrhea and vomitting. When she was born she was perfectly healthy, but once I had to return to work I began to give her formula and that's when she began to have these complications. She began to have watery diarrhea and vomit. I took her to the doctor and they said she had gastroenteritis, but it's been a while now and she is still the same? Does anyone know what could possibly be wrong? Thank you.

Avatar f tn Hi It could be a case of gastroenteritis (gut infection) which has led to diarrhea and vomiting. The main symptoms of gastroenteritis are diarrhea and vomiting although one or the other symptom may predominate. If the symptoms persist (>1 day), worsen or lead to other complications you should consult your doctor who could order some tests such as stool examination etc. In the meanwhile take rest and drink lots of fluids to avoid dehydration.
Avatar n tn Gastroenteritis can be produced from viral, bacterial and parasitic infections, contaminated food or water or change in bacteria that normally live in the intestinal tract.Chest pain that you are having is due to radiation of pain. Take adequate fluids throughout the day. The BRAT diet (ie, bananas, rice, applesauce, toast) or soft easily digestible semisolid diet can also be taken. You also need a course of antibiotics like ciprofloxacin or metronidazole. Hope it helps.

Avatar f tn My 5 year old is suffering from severe abdominal pain. My other children had a stomach bug that lasted 1 day and without pain. They vomited a few times and it was over...they felt better. She had similiar symptoms about a month ago and the dr treated her for guiardia with an antibiotic and she was better after 2 days. She has been vomiting all day...pretty much phlem...and only feels better for a few minutes before the pain starts again.
Avatar n tn I know detox is beyond horrible, beyond your worst nightmare. You need support during this time. Even if you could stay in a rehab for 7 days or so....they give you Librium to help with the detox symptoms, which makes it a little easier to get through. I wish you all the good luck, and God bless. Keep me posted.
Avatar f tn You need to be monitored closely by a hepatologist. The symptoms that you describe are symptoms of your liver not working well causing you to become more and more ill. Having a hepatologist in a liver transplant center means that as you become more ill, you will already be an established patient in the transplant center, and you will have the right team of people around you. As Hector mentioned, it is important for you to know the exact state of the health of your liver.
Avatar n tn My doctor said I have gastroenteritis. However, these symptoms have been persistent now for 10 days. Gastroenteritis usually lasts about 3-7 days. Is it possible that I aquired HIV from the prostate massage and my symptoms of nauseau, diareah, fever and night sweats are really ARS? My last HIV test was 9 months ago and it was negative. Should I get tested again b/c of this incident?
Avatar n tn Yes, these are all symptoms of type I diabetes in children. My child was wetting the bed, extremely thirsty all the time and was vomiting; his vomiting, we think, was contributed to a stomach virus he had at the time. We took him to the ER due to dehydration -they did a blood chemistry and his blood sugar was 399-they immediately admitted him to ICU and he was put on IV insulin. He's been a diabetic now for 3 years-he's now 9. He's has handled it amazingly well!
693811 tn?1245871706 The pain was in the same region of the abdomen and I was getting the symptoms with the kinds of foods that are known to be caused from gallbladder issues. I had the ultrasound done for the gallbladder and the gallbladder showed no issues. Interestingly, the same thing happened with a friend of mine.
Avatar f tn I also have anxiety because before I was diagnosed with gastroenteritis I would be searching up my symptoms on the internet so I pretty much scared myself half to death with all the things I saw. Now my poop floats, is yellow, and when I flush the toilet the strikes of poop stick to the sides. I don't know what I might have. Thank you for taking you're time to read my summary.
Avatar f tn ve been doing a lot of research on autoimmune disorders recently and learned that in some cases these symptoms are linked to changes in hormones. NOT to say that this is your situation, but you may want to investigate.
