Gastroenteritis how to avoid

Common Questions and Answers about Gastroenteritis how to avoid

gastroenteritis

Avatar m tn You may want to check out infomation on the American Partnership for Eosinophilic Disorders site. When someone has eosinophilic issues it typically doesn't disappear. You're unfortunately going to have to deal with it for your life time. It's basically considered to be an 'allergic' state. You need to find out what substances are triggering the response and avoid them.
Avatar n tn Welcome to the gastroenterology community! I would recommend that you talk to your gastroenterologist about this.
Avatar f tn It could be related to a reaction to something in one of the meals/snacks from Nutrisystem, or more likely it could be a bout of stomach flu which is not really a flu. It's proper name is viral gastroenteritis. Usually gastroenteritis resolves within a few days. You should suspend the Nutrisystem program for now, stay hydrated and follow a bland diet-dry toast, rice broth or plain rice, bananas, applesauce also known as BRAT diet (acronym).
Avatar m tn I felt fine within a few hours, then went to the doctor and had everything checked and she said she thought it was Gastroenteritis. My vitals were all good. Since Tuesday I still hear groaning, creeky and bubbly sounds especially in the morning. Today for my cheat day I bought some cookies, but 20 minutes after eating them I ran to the bathroom. I also feel more anxious, worried these days with job issues...so overall I'm not sure if this is an IBS flare up, or colitis or what.
Avatar f tn The danger of gastroenteritis would come if you get dehydrated, which is dangerous to the baby. Avoid getting it, and Ii you do get it, stay hydrated, and go to the hospital to get an IV asap if you can't keep fluids down or if you can't keep up with the fluids you lose.
Avatar n tn My daughter is 14 months old and she has has watery diarrhea and vomitting. When she was born she was perfectly healthy, but once I had to return to work I began to give her formula and that's when she began to have these complications. She began to have watery diarrhea and vomit. I took her to the doctor and they said she had gastroenteritis, but it's been a while now and she is still the same? Does anyone know what could possibly be wrong? Thank you.
Avatar f tn Extremely normal. Gastroenteritis (stomach virus) is inflammation. It can cause mild to extreme pains anywhere in your abdomen, though most feel it epigastrically. (The hollow right under your ribs, in your upper stomach) Other symptoms include nausea, vomiting, fever, malaise and general aches and pains. For most people symptoms subside within 1-3 days but you're contagious much longer.
Avatar n tn Blood transfusions are safe these days, you're stuck on the fear of a transfusion based on incidents where people acquired HIV early on in the epidemic. The blood supply is safe, your daughter has no HIV concerns. You need to listen to your daughter's doctor and seek some professional help for yourself to help you move on. It sounds like she has a stomach flu, which is in NO way related to HIV.
Avatar n tn Hello, The vomitings and diarrhea can be due to gastroenteritis but for the ovarian pain, premenstrual symptoms can cause such pain. It can be avoided by taking a balanced diet rich in proteins, vitamins and minerals. Avoid excess caffeine, alcohol and smoking. Indulge in mild exercises everyday. You may take some pain killers like acetaminophen for pain relief. But of problem persists please consult a gynaecologist.
Avatar n tn Hello! I seem to have unfortunately caught gastroenteritis. I was given Ondansentron and it helped immensely. However, I can't sleep. I'm so wired and my stomach still hurts but luckily, no side effects. Is this normal? Is it the gastroenteritis or the drug?
4503521 tn?1400858886 I don't kno what it is but its getting very hard to sleep at night laying on my sides even ***** and the nightmares don't help :-(
Avatar n tn The doctor prescribed me amoxilin, an antibiotic for medication. He said the chest pain could be from a cold. They're hoping its not a infection in my lungs. My stomach pains are almost gone, but the chest pains are still remaining, and my cold symptoms worsened. I'm waiting until tomorrow to see how I feel, then i will decide whether to get a xray for my chest.
Avatar n tn I've always had problems with constipation but I'm taking prenatal vitamins that have a mild laxitive in them. Also eating alot of berries. That helps n every 2 weeks I drink or chug a bottle of 100% prune juice. That helps alot.
Avatar f tn But he was lying to me the whole time. I finally got him to admit to his addiction (and I was floored by how much he was taking), I was 8 1/2 months pregnant. I gave birth alone, because I wouldn't let him back into our home until he had completed rehab. [It's ironic that I managed to get right where he was exactly 4 years ago]. He completes rehab, lives in a halfway house for a bit, and he moved back in.

535089 tn?1400673519 Hi to all. I was recently Hospitalized with Gastroenteritis/Colitis and was wondering if anyone could give me some options for a good food regiment (liquid diet) that would help calm the intestines. I have had a recent infection including Colitis, Gastroenteritis (sp). I would also like to know what the best OTC antacid might be to calm the tummy. Any information would be greatly appreciated.
Avatar f tn I am recovering from a recent bout of what seemed to be gastroenteritis. I had constant diarrhea for 5 days, plus nausea and crampy pains in my stomach and bowel. I was hospitalised for severe dehydration, where numerous bloods were taken. Results showed a slightly elevated white cell count. My issue is that even though I am feeling slightly better 3 days later and have resumed eating, my stomach is behaving strangely.
Avatar n tn Stomach flu can cause indigestion and abdominal discomfort. Viral gastroenteritis can lead to nausea, abdominal pain and diarrhea. The exact location of pain and other details will help in determining the accurate cause .Take light meals. Avoid spicy fried foods. If the symptoms are severe consult a gastroenterologist. Best of luck and regards!
