Avatar m tn How is Hep A spread? I mean is it really easy to catch? i heard you could catch it through fecal-oral route but is there anyother way? and besides that say if someone steps in someone elses fecal and wipes it off thier shoe does that mean they have a chance of contracting it? i know i sound naive but how else am i supposed to learn if i dont ask. I am sorry if i offend anyone with my stupidity i just wanna no to clear something up. Please help me to be more aware of the risks! i need help.
Avatar f tn So, it could be the stomach virus. You're still sick even if you inhibit vomiting. Glad that worked for you! The other possibility is that perhaps you had a touch of food poisoning but with your house having a stomach virus, likely you did as well and while the meds you took (don't take someone else's meds, take only what is prescribed by a doctor for you personally)--- stopped vomiting, it doesn't mean you didn't have the virus and other effects of it.
1770029 tn?1325802355 However, the most common cause is a virus called Norovirus. It is spead from person to person by fecal oral contamination. It is highly contagious and so when someone in a restuarant ,or anywhere really, doesn't wash their hands after using the restroom it gets spread to another person. For example if they didn't wash their hands and prepared foods a whole outbreak will occur such as often occurs on cruise ships. In children they can also get Rotavirus in the same manner.
Avatar m tn I did eat a caesar salad about twenty-four hours before the onset of the illness, so I guess it could conceivably be salmonella poisoning. Do you agree that gastroenteritis is more likely than ARS? Thanks for your input.
Avatar n tn Hi there, Ondansetron is used for treating vomiting. Constipation, dizziness and headache are the most commonly reported side effects associated with its use. These symptoms will ware off once you have stopped using the medication. This is merely an advice and not a substitute for clinical examination. I hope it helps. Best wishes and regards!
Avatar n tn I went up there and took her to the doctor and she was basically told is was a stomach virus (gastroenteritis) drink plenty of fluids and it should go away in a couple of days but when I look up Gastroenteritis it says that it's common in people with weaken immune system caused by HIV. She took her 3 month birth control shot the morning before but I'm sure that didn't cause Gastroenteritis. My question is should I be concerned about HIV at this point.
Avatar f tn So doctor diagnose me with gastroenteritis prescribe me pain killers. N next morning with the dull pain that comes n goes. Ouch! Is it normal???? Im scared im praying to god to please let it not be nothing else..
Avatar n tn My daughter is 14 months old and she has has watery diarrhea and vomitting. When she was born she was perfectly healthy, but once I had to return to work I began to give her formula and that's when she began to have these complications. She began to have watery diarrhea and vomit. I took her to the doctor and they said she had gastroenteritis, but it's been a while now and she is still the same? Does anyone know what could possibly be wrong? Thank you.
Avatar n tn 8 Celsius and right now my chest hurts and the inside feels like it itches. What should I do? Is it because the infection has traveled? or the chest pain is because of the spreading infection?
Avatar m tn I felt fine within a few hours, then went to the doctor and had everything checked and she said she thought it was Gastroenteritis. My vitals were all good. Since Tuesday I still hear groaning, creeky and bubbly sounds especially in the morning. Today for my cheat day I bought some cookies, but 20 minutes after eating them I ran to the bathroom. I also feel more anxious, worried these days with job issues...so overall I'm not sure if this is an IBS flare up, or colitis or what.
Avatar f tn Every day since I went to the hospital to get checked out I was found out with gastroenteritis and 1 week later taking pills it went away. Now ever since then I've been going to the bathroom and what I've. Noticed is that my poop is yellow and floats. I think I may have malabsorption but I'm not to sure. I'd go to the doctor but my parents wouldn't wanna take me as I had gone to the doctor 4 weeks ago. I'm 14 and I'm overweight for my age. I'm 210 Pounds.
Avatar f tn I looked up the condition and it says you have vomiting and/or diarrhea, but i have neither. I am worried it is appendicitis, but the appendix is on the right side, not left. I am really in pain but i am taking my meds as described. Does this sound like viral gastroenteritis to you? I am in such severe pain just laying here typing this and barely moving.. Please help. Thank you.
Avatar f tn Theoretically chlamydia can spread that way. Touching could also lead you to get syphilis and herpes if you touch the typical lesions those infections cause on skin. Gonorrhea is also a possibility. Obviously, the risk is low compared to oral sex or penetrative sex, but it's not zero. I would recommend you to test as follows: -Chlamydia and gonorrhea, 3 weeks after the exposure.
Avatar m tn i also have had pains in my lower left abdominal region almost like i am constipated but even after a bowel movement it it still there. should i go back to the gastro specialist or is there something i can do that will be less drastic?
535089 tn?1400673519 They basically said soft foods. I am wondering about the dairy products. Do you think it is wise to hold off or not. I begged and pleaded with them to let me out for Halloween. I had a PCA along with other IV's...Dextrose was my best friend and all I had was puree oatmeal and yogart (very small amount) along with juice. The Doc was not avail but the nurse talked with her and by the grace of god, they let me go home early so I was wondering what the best diet would be.
Avatar m tn I tried to rub my penis to see if there is a discharge but there is no discharge but this feeling of a drop coming out happens 3-4 times a day. The itching is also there. My doctor said it is Non-gonnococal-Urethritis (NGU). It has been a week since I started taking Doxycyclin with no major progress. I have one more week of Doxycyclin left and will give it a shot. But I am not sure what should I do if this does not work. Can anyone suggest anything please?
Avatar m tn t see that it matters. Conceivably this could be done, but the required testing is complex and expensive, involving testing of both potential source partners as well as your own virus. This would require a research lab. And most such clinics or labs probably would not be interested in doing it.
Avatar f tn He is going for a full body scan tomorrow. Is this definetely cancer? If it is both lungs does that mean it is at an advanced stage? What if it didn't start in the lungs but started somewhere else and spread to the lungs? I am that that would be a better situation? Is that true. I feel so numb from all this.
Avatar f tn oh yes it is really overwhelming...having breakdowns freaking out n worrying over every little thing with the baby on top of trying to figure out things with myself. anxiety constantley! i'm becoming a basket case with everything. but i think im gonna end up changing docs cuz ive felt like ive had no voice now for 7 months, i'm beginning to feel like i trust no doc's or nurses anymore. its so frustrating. i need peace somewhere. as for having uti's still...
Avatar m tn I am 24 years old. About 1 week ago I noticed what seemed to be gas pain in my mid back. I was also mildly constipated. A few days of meal replacement shakes, eating healthier, and my bowel movements started to move again, although it seemed to be softer stool. The pain in my back has dissipated, but I seem to be having little spasm type pains all over my abdomen and chest. I think it could be from straining. My stomach is still bothering me somewhat and I get the occasional gas pain.
Avatar n tn Hello, Diarrhea and vomitings can be provoked either by an intestinal infection or by illness somewhere else in the body. When they begin suddenly, the problem is usually gastroenteritis (or stomach flu), most often caused by a virus and sometimes by bacteria and parasites. Gastroenteritis is an irritation and infection of the digestive tract. It can often cause sudden and sometimes violent upsets and may be confused with spastic colitis.
