Common Questions and Answers about Gastroenteritis for 5 days

gastroenteritis

Avatar f tn Extremely normal. Gastroenteritis (stomach virus) is inflammation. It can cause mild to extreme pains anywhere in your abdomen, though most feel it epigastrically. (The hollow right under your ribs, in your upper stomach) Other symptoms include nausea, vomiting, fever, malaise and general aches and pains. For most people symptoms subside within 1-3 days but you're contagious much longer.
Avatar f tn Symptoms include a constant achy feeling in the area, sharp pains in the area when i lay down or move positions or laugh or cough. I went to the doc after 5 days. He said its just viral gastroenteritis. I looked up the condition and it says you have vomiting and/or diarrhea, but i have neither. I am worried it is appendicitis, but the appendix is on the right side, not left. I am really in pain but i am taking my meds as described. Does this sound like viral gastroenteritis to you?
Avatar n tn I went up there and took her to the doctor and she was basically told is was a stomach virus (gastroenteritis) drink plenty of fluids and it should go away in a couple of days but when I look up Gastroenteritis it says that it's common in people with weaken immune system caused by HIV. She took her 3 month birth control shot the morning before but I'm sure that didn't cause Gastroenteritis. My question is should I be concerned about HIV at this point.
Avatar f tn Viral gastroenteritis symptoms may appear 1-3 days after you are infected and can range from mild to severe. Symptoms usually last just a day or two, but occasionally they may persist as long as 10 days. Because the symptoms are similar, it is easy to confuse diarrhea caused by viruses with diarrhea caused by bacteria (e.g., Clostridium difficile, salmonella, and E. coli) or parasites (e.g., giardia). If your symptoms persist, see your doctor for further workup and management.

Avatar n tn Hello! I seem to have unfortunately caught gastroenteritis. I was given Ondansentron and it helped immensely. However, I can't sleep. I'm so wired and my stomach still hurts but luckily, no side effects. Is this normal? Is it the gastroenteritis or the drug?

535089 tn?1400673519 s effectiveness depends on the person. Rolaids seem to work the best for me. But 5 years ago Tums worked better. Be careful taking an antacid. There are many medications that the antacid will reduce it's effectiveness or is not recommend at all. Usually you can take them but they must be hours apart. So please check that against any medications you taking. Welcome back. I hope you are soon feeling much better.
Avatar n tn My daughter is 14 months old and she has has watery diarrhea and vomitting. When she was born she was perfectly healthy, but once I had to return to work I began to give her formula and that's when she began to have these complications. She began to have watery diarrhea and vomit. I took her to the doctor and they said she had gastroenteritis, but it's been a while now and she is still the same? Does anyone know what could possibly be wrong? Thank you.
Avatar f tn I had gastroenteritis about 10 days ago. It seems to have finally settled down. But I have really bad acid reflux since. My doctor suggested I increase my omeprazole 20mg to twice a day which have done for 5 days now but it's still not getting any better. I wake up in morning with a mouth full if acid. Its horrid. I'm also having to take gaviscon in between (2 hours after) has anyone got any other suggestions?
3166043 tn?1514260018 This is likely to be a viral gastroenteritis which should subside on its own in 5-10 days. I would suggest taking plenty of fluids with added sugar and salt/ commercially available oral rehydration solution to compensate for the fluids lost. If the symptoms do not settle in 5-10 days or there is development of additional symptoms such as blood in stools, I would suggest an evaluation by a primary care physician for appropriate management.
Avatar m tn Symptoms lasted for about four days, infusion improvement in 3 days. It is the acute phase of AIDS symptoms?
Avatar n tn day 4 I had a gastroenteritis, all my family had the same symptoms in the same time for 1.5 days(all specific symptoms to Gastroenteritis fever, vomiting, diarrhea for one day and fading down the last half day- maybe a norovirus) . >Day 7 i had the blood tests done - elevated transaminase levels. > week 3 conjunctivitis, > week 5.5 headache and fever up to 102 for less than a day. Next day i had a cold sore that healed in 1 week. > week 5.5 until week 6.

1974739 tn?1326022445 We have a 11 year old male Border Collie, he's not eaten for 5 days, just drinks a little water with electrolites in, the vet gave him anti-biotics and an anti sickness and dihorea solution but hes certainly not improved over the last 3 days, he struggles to walk and he cant stand for more than a few seconds, the vet prescribed some Hills prescription tinned meat which he told us to offer after a couple of days, he sniffs and walks away, but he did take a doggie treat, but this is very worry
Avatar f tn If the pain is severe, of you have dizziness or blood in stools or the diarrhoea does not seem to get better in 4-5 days, it is advised to see a primary care physician for an accurate diagnosis and appropriate management. Hope this helps. Take care!

Avatar n tn My doctor said I have gastroenteritis. However, these symptoms have been persistent now for 10 days. Gastroenteritis usually lasts about 3-7 days. Is it possible that I aquired HIV from the prostate massage and my symptoms of nauseau, diareah, fever and night sweats are really ARS? My last HIV test was 9 months ago and it was negative. Should I get tested again b/c of this incident?
Avatar f tn I had constant diarrhea for 5 days, plus nausea and crampy pains in my stomach and bowel. I was hospitalised for severe dehydration, where numerous bloods were taken. Results showed a slightly elevated white cell count. My issue is that even though I am feeling slightly better 3 days later and have resumed eating, my stomach is behaving strangely. It is constantly gurgling (almost non-stop) and feels like there is gas bubbling in it constantly. It's not painful, more uncomfortable.
Avatar m tn I am a 25 year old female and 9 days ago at work I felt very hungry so ordered a large sandwich, I couldn't eat it all as I came over very hot and feeling very ill, since then I have barely been able to eat, I started with cold like symptoms, sickness and diarrhoea. Once the illness part of it past I felt absolutely fine, yet, I still can't eat much food at all, the smell of food makes me nauseous, I am getting heart burn all the time.
Avatar n tn Antimicrobial therapy is indicated for some bacterial gastroenteritis infections. However, many are self-limited and do not require therapy. The specific antibiotics are taken for specific bacteria after stool culture. Then a gastroenterologist or a physician has to be consulted. I hope it helps.Take care and regards.
