gastroenteritis

3072999 tn?1356414732 Hi Tink, I am actually a medical coder for a hospital -the ICD-10 code would be G93.5. The ICD-9 code is 384.4. Since ICD-9 is not very specific they may have put a I after to show it is a Chiari Malformation type 1. In ICD-10 it is more specific - G93.5 states Chiari Malformation 1. So I am assuming since the ICD-9 code of 384.4 just states compression of brain they had to add a 1 so it was more specific for their notes.
Avatar m tn I do know that if you should need the shock and no ICD, I think you know the answer. In my opinion, and I base this on what the doc told us, then I came up with this, and they agreed. The damage to the heart from A-Fib, would be far greater than the damage from the shock. Gosh, I am sorry for going on and on. Hope I haven't scared you. Would really encourage you to ask your cardiologist these questions. He would be the best to answer them. Like I said, I have given my opinion.
Avatar f tn I am having a hard time with this, as I am newly married and we want to start a family and this would be my first pregnancy. I was diagnosed a year and a half ago and I am stable and on meds. Could our dream ever become or reality?
Avatar f tn Yes, I had the tilt test and the cardiac mri, before the ICD. I was in 9 days, some in ICU, but the last 24 hours they did the ICD, they had done all the testing before that! THanks. I do have a ton more questions for the docs when I see them on the 21st. and then millions after that!
Avatar m tn I also was questioning a ICD as I have a left bundle branch block and my EF is now about 25%..I did have an ablation for my wolf parkinson white syndrome.which has helped..But they say my heart muscle is a bit enlarged I have no problem breathing unless the humidity is very high..No problem when laying down and no swelling in the legs ...When I take coreg for the heart muscle i feel awful hurting everywhere..
Avatar f tn The ICD can be programmed to sense when ventricular tachycardia is occurring, and administers a shock to stop it. The ICD may also be programmed to send a burst of paced beats to interrupt the ventricular tachycardia. Anti-arrhythmic drugs may be needed to prevent repeated firing of the ICD. Of course, the fear of V-tach is that can lead to ventricular fibrillation, asystole, and sudden death. For now, put your hope in the ablation procedure and go from there.
Avatar n tn ll have to watch your post to see if you get a knowledgeable answer, but offer in advance the opinion that there is no relationship between a dental implant and an ICD. I could be wrong, but offer this positive view to help hold you over to other experience based inputs. Hope you get one or more.
Avatar f tn Doctor then recommended that I get an implantable defibrillator coz my VT could lead to sudden death. I accepted to have the ICD installed and this was done 10 days ago. I am now getting used to life with and ICD. I still have questions as follows: 1. I am still keen to hve catheter ablation carried out in next 24 months when i am off medications. Is this advisable? 2. If Catheterablation is successful, I would want the ICD removed as its very restrictive to my normal activities?
Avatar m tn I am a 25 year old female and 9 days ago at work I felt very hungry so ordered a large sandwich, I couldn't eat it all as I came over very hot and feeling very ill, since then I have barely been able to eat, I started with cold like symptoms, sickness and diarrhoea. Once the illness part of it past I felt absolutely fine, yet, I still can't eat much food at all, the smell of food makes me nauseous, I am getting heart burn all the time.
Avatar n tn They took another blood sample before and after meal and that time it came back as 90mg/dl fasting and 120mg/dl after meal which used to my regular level. I am non diabetic and quite a concious on health. The doctor is also clueless and told me it might be due to severe dehydration and infection that has risen my blood sugar level.
967168 tn?1477584489 30pm and I might buy the 17th because I was sitting in the dr's waiting room but I think it was my ICD picking up on my symptoms from walking out in the heat and I was SOB, dizzy and was having VT. current cardio is sending me to a new EP because after I went to the ER and they found this; he agrees with me...anyone had what they said was EMI but really found to be a malfunction of the ICD or the icd not sensing arrhythmia's correctly?
Avatar f tn While we all know that the defibrillator saves lives, I read that every electrical shock, whether warranted or not, will further weaken the heart, leading to a higher and faster mortality. We are very scared now and do not know what decision to make. Do you have relatives in your family who did not benefit or got worse while having the defibrillator?
Avatar n tn I went up there and took her to the doctor and she was basically told is was a stomach virus (gastroenteritis) drink plenty of fluids and it should go away in a couple of days but when I look up Gastroenteritis it says that it's common in people with weaken immune system caused by HIV. She took her 3 month birth control shot the morning before but I'm sure that didn't cause Gastroenteritis. My question is should I be concerned about HIV at this point.
Avatar n tn My daughter is 14 months old and she has has watery diarrhea and vomitting. When she was born she was perfectly healthy, but once I had to return to work I began to give her formula and that's when she began to have these complications. She began to have watery diarrhea and vomit. I took her to the doctor and they said she had gastroenteritis, but it's been a while now and she is still the same? Does anyone know what could possibly be wrong? Thank you.
Avatar n tn Hello! I seem to have unfortunately caught gastroenteritis. I was given Ondansentron and it helped immensely. However, I can't sleep. I'm so wired and my stomach still hurts but luckily, no side effects. Is this normal? Is it the gastroenteritis or the drug?
Avatar f tn (The hollow right under your ribs, in your upper stomach) Other symptoms include nausea, vomiting, fever, malaise and general aches and pains. For most people symptoms subside within 1-3 days but you're contagious much longer. You can still pass the virus through your stool for 2 weeks or so and it can survive on surfaces for a long time too. Just take it easy, eat bland foods and rest a lot.
967168 tn?1477584489 What are the chances that OSA is causing me to have VTACH episodes? I have obstructed hypertrophic cardiomyopathy and had an ICD implanted 2 years ago due to malignant arrhythmia's (polymorphic ventricular tachycardia) and found out in the same week I had OSA (1 point from severe) waking 72 times nightly and oxygen going down to 76% but the sleep study showed no arrhythmia's during the test even though all my other tests showed 50,000 pvc's daily during that time frame.
Avatar f tn I’m a 51 year old man who was a competitive long distance runner until 2012 when I suddenly went into VT during a 10k. I had an ICD put in and was still running, though not as intensely and not as far. Recently I had some episodes, even at rest, and was put in this Solotal just yesterday. I hope I’ll be able to run still. I’ll understand if it’s not too much.
Avatar m tn The later ICDs are more sophisticated and do a better of of identifying V-tach correctly and attempt to pace me out of V-tach before shocking. In the course of replacing tone ICD, I got an infection and the ICD and leads had to be removed and placed on the right side. Through all of this, I continued to exercise, but gave up competitive racing. In the last couple years, the V-tach returned about 1 or 2 times per month.
Avatar n tn I have been exercising (weight lifting, aerobics, etc) in a gym off and on for 9 years with a pacemaker and have never had a real problem. I do notice that trying to stretch my left arm across my body feels like it squishes the pacemaker a bit, but if i move my arm down a few inches it feels fine.
Avatar m tn There is a wonderful online group with over 600 members who all have ICDs and might be able to help you get through this without removing your ICD and maybe even turning it back on. www.icdsupportgroup.org Good luck and please think twice before you have your ICD removed.
