Avatar n tn I spent 4 days in the hospital with electrolytes out of balance due to dehydration from uncontrollable diahrrea and vomiting; diagnosed as Acute Gastroenteritis. A year ago I began having intermittent bouts of vomiting bile every few months. Have been on all PPI's and Acid Reflux controlled pretty well but still have vomiting episodes. What's your recommendation? This leaves me wiped out for a couple of days with tenderness in stomach and right abdomen.
Avatar f tn There is a muscle that normally opens to let food into the stomach and closes to keep food and stomach acid in. With GERD, this muscle does not work properly, and causes food and stomach acid to leak back up the esophagus. It could also be Gastroenteritis as Tuck has suggested. There are also about 2000 other reasons why you are vomiting stomach acid. Please have it checked out. Make that appt. with your Doctor. Better safe than sorry. Please take care and good luck.
1788584 tn?1315106518 Secondly Acid reflux gives you very bad stomach ache and usually lasts for a short time and you can possible be sick with it but feel much better straight away without diarroe and sickness ectr. I no this as i suffer from acid reflux myself. The term Gastroenteritis springs to mind as you say you have been sick and been havin toilet issues. This usually clears up within a few days and its like havin a flu virus or stomach bug.
175861 tn?1428182413 s been acting up for around 3 weeks-burpy, baggy feeling in throat-went to ENT and gastro and ENT said she thinks its gerd-she did a scope of my larynx and saw redness and post nasal drip (the latter of which ive had most of my life). The loose stools are more recent. The gastro doctor does not think the gerd and gastro symptoms are related. She thinks its IBS which hasn't really flared for over 10 yrs.
Avatar f tn I had constant diarrhea for 5 days, plus nausea and crampy pains in my stomach and bowel. I was hospitalised for severe dehydration, where numerous bloods were taken. Results showed a slightly elevated white cell count. My issue is that even though I am feeling slightly better 3 days later and have resumed eating, my stomach is behaving strangely. It is constantly gurgling (almost non-stop) and feels like there is gas bubbling in it constantly. It's not painful, more uncomfortable.
693811 tn?1245871706 The hospital I work in has had a very slow moving gastroenteritis going through patients and staff. I thought I had that already and it was just gut pain and was relieved with much yogurt. This virus seems to have a long incubation period. It's nothing like Norwalk.
Avatar f tn Hi there. I believe that my granddaughter is experiencing gerd/acid reflux but the Dr doesn’t seem concerned?. She’s now 4 1/2 years old. She’s just getting over gastroenteritis w high fevers and has had sever nausea w a few visits to th Er. It’s been about 11 days now. She also was diagnosed w an ear infection ahd at night when I give her the antibiotic she throws it back up. Now take in mind that she’s got a nasty viral virus on top ahd her nausea went from over the roof to mild.
Avatar n tn I went up there and took her to the doctor and she was basically told is was a stomach virus (gastroenteritis) drink plenty of fluids and it should go away in a couple of days but when I look up Gastroenteritis it says that it's common in people with weaken immune system caused by HIV. She took her 3 month birth control shot the morning before but I'm sure that didn't cause Gastroenteritis. My question is should I be concerned about HIV at this point.
Avatar n tn My daughter is 14 months old and she has has watery diarrhea and vomitting. When she was born she was perfectly healthy, but once I had to return to work I began to give her formula and that's when she began to have these complications. She began to have watery diarrhea and vomit. I took her to the doctor and they said she had gastroenteritis, but it's been a while now and she is still the same? Does anyone know what could possibly be wrong? Thank you.
Avatar n tn Hello! I seem to have unfortunately caught gastroenteritis. I was given Ondansentron and it helped immensely. However, I can't sleep. I'm so wired and my stomach still hurts but luckily, no side effects. Is this normal? Is it the gastroenteritis or the drug?
Avatar f tn (The hollow right under your ribs, in your upper stomach) Other symptoms include nausea, vomiting, fever, malaise and general aches and pains. For most people symptoms subside within 1-3 days but you're contagious much longer. You can still pass the virus through your stool for 2 weeks or so and it can survive on surfaces for a long time too. Just take it easy, eat bland foods and rest a lot.
Avatar n tn I was diagnosed with gerd about 2 years ago. I have lost weight and elevated my bed. I only have coffee at breakfast and have limited my alcohol intake to only weekends and in moderation then. I do not have heartburn, but have had a continuing chest congestion which is normally only a bother. I have taken omeprazole twice aday which seems to control every symptom except the chest congestion.
Avatar n tn I had a stomach virus for three days on the second day was feeling very nauseated and dizzy and i am done with my stomach virus and am still left with this horrible feeling of dizziness and nausea that is accompanied by tiredness. Help im tired of feeling sick, i wana get back to being me.
475300 tn?1312423126 As Mike suggests, your doc should check your thyroid and in fact you should have a full work up. GERD (chronic reflux) and/or some type of ulcer also comes to mind. GERD btw can present itself without heartburn. Also, you might want to sift through these links on long-term side effects in our "Health Pages". Maybe someone else has reported similar side effects that can help you some directions to explore. Health Page on Side Effects here: http://www.medhelp.
Avatar f tn Hi all, For the past 2 weeks I have had numerous problems starting with my stomach. First I was feeling nauseas, gassy and tender stomach. Went to my Dr and she said it was Gastritis and put me on Kapidex 2x a day for 3 days and then once a day thereafter. The next day my lower back has starting hurting. I went in on Tuesday for pain in the back and she prescribed naxoprene and a muscle relaxer. The pain went away once from the pain medicine and now does nothing.
Avatar m tn They prescribed me with an antibiotic (for gastroenteritis) and metoclopramide, as well as something for diarrhea (which I didn't have). I filled out the prescription for the metoclopramide, but I was kind of wary about the antibiotic, because they didn't tell me if they even found anything viral or bacterial, they just said that it "seems like gastroenteritis".
Avatar f tn Every day since I went to the hospital to get checked out I was found out with gastroenteritis and 1 week later taking pills it went away. Now ever since then I've been going to the bathroom and what I've. Noticed is that my poop is yellow and floats. I think I may have malabsorption but I'm not to sure. I'd go to the doctor but my parents wouldn't wanna take me as I had gone to the doctor 4 weeks ago. I'm 14 and I'm overweight for my age. I'm 210 Pounds.
Avatar f tn I recently went to see a gastroenteritis doctor and had to do an endoscopy and colonoscopy test. I finished both of the procedure today and got the results back with normal duodenum, Normal stomach, a hiatus hernia was found, esophagitis seen and a normal colon. My doctor did a biopsy but I am not sure what or where he did the biopsy for. After the procedure, the RN nurse told me that I have acid reflux. I don't really understand this.
Avatar f tn Viral gastroenteritis symptoms may appear 1-3 days after you are infected and can range from mild to severe. Symptoms usually last just a day or two, but occasionally they may persist as long as 10 days. Because the symptoms are similar, it is easy to confuse diarrhea caused by viruses with diarrhea caused by bacteria (e.g., Clostridium difficile, salmonella, and E. coli) or parasites (e.g., giardia). If your symptoms persist, see your doctor for further workup and management.
Avatar f tn I went to the doc after 5 days. He said its just viral gastroenteritis. I looked up the condition and it says you have vomiting and/or diarrhea, but i have neither. I am worried it is appendicitis, but the appendix is on the right side, not left. I am really in pain but i am taking my meds as described. Does this sound like viral gastroenteritis to you? I am in such severe pain just laying here typing this and barely moving.. Please help. Thank you.
Avatar m tn when i went to the emergency room they first gave me an x-ray and said my pancreas was swolen then they gave me a contrast ct-scan in wich the said my boweld were swolen they diagnosed me with collitis. when i went and saw a gastro. specialist he ruled out the collitis and said it was gastroenteritis he told me to continue the levaquin i was prescribed.

I was recently Hospitalized with Gastroenteritis/Colitis and was wondering if anyone could give me some options for a good food regiment (liquid diet) that would help calm the intestines. I have had a recent infection including Colitis, Gastroenteritis (sp). I would also like to know what the best OTC antacid might be to calm the tummy. Any information would be greatly appreciated.
