How long after taking gabapentin will the side effects last. I have hair loss. I stopped taking gabapentin about four or five months ago.
Hair Loss With Lamotrigine (Lamictal) Treatment (more) Months ago someone asked me, on Bipolar World's "Ask-a-doc" page, about whether lamotrigine causes hair loss. At the time I had trouble finding much to go on, to answer that question. It is listed (at the less than 1% level) in the prescribing information from the manufacturer. But now comes a very clear report of the phenomenon in a respected journal. (Hillemacher) This augments the numerous reports one can find online (e.g.
I was on 1200mg for a while for nerve pain, but I suddenly started suffering from so many side effects that I need to get off this stuff. I'd rather have the pain than swollen joints, gout, extreme hair loss, painful nails...the list goes on and on. The doctor cut the dose in half, but I'm going to get off as soon as I can. He's not all that helpful. I found info on Gabapentin at drugs.com . I should have checked into it before starting to take it.
The exact percentage of people who developed hair loss while taking Lyrica was not reported. Because hair loss is so common in the general public, it is difficult to say whether hair loss is caused by Lyrica, genetics, other factors, or a combination of these things. If you are taking Lyrica and hair loss becomes a problem, talk with your healthcare provider. Depending on how severe the hair loss is, there are things that he or she may be able to do.
If you have questions about side effects, contact your physician. There is nothing about gabapentin that specifically states hair loss as one of it's side effects as you can see. I have been having the same problem myself and I would like to know what is causing it as well! Granted, I have thick hair, but I would like to know why I'm losing it. When I see my doctor next month I am going to ask for some blood tests to be run - and make sure my thyroid is still in good shape!
He's also extremely hungry and thirsty. I've read that all of these are possible phenobarbital side effects. How long do these usually last before the dog gets used to the medication? I'm hoping that these are not signs that something else is wrong, though I am aware of the possibilities.
I was waking in the night with migraines and now it's been three weeks with not a hint of one. I have read and understand all the side effects. The hair loss, the confussion, the tingling, the weight loss (for me this is not a good thing, I am thin to begin with) But I would rather deal with any of these side effects then deal with a minute of what of was prescribed Topamax for....MIGRAINES!!!! Horrible, Painful, Migraines, a pain so bad that it makes one want to curl up and die.
You had bad experience with one drug, take it as bad marriage, but life does not stop there, one should go on. Drugs like topiramate and gabapentin are other good alternatives with least side effects. You can visit these websites for more information http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Topiramate http://en.wikipedia.
What side effects do you experience? I am most concerned with hair loss because I look like a chia pet that's just starting to root up.
Common (occurs in more than 1 in 100 users) feeling unwell, flu-like symptoms, sore throat, cough, dry mouth or throat, runny nose, loss of appetite, increased appetite, being or feeling sick, problems with teeth, inflamed gums, diarrhea, stomach pain, indigestion, constipation, flatulence, increase in weight.
dizziness (I can't even carry a laundry basket down the stairs) and sleepiness, which were not a surprise, but the other two that I am writing about today have been the real shockers. First, I put on about 15 pounds in two months (going from 138 to 153) and there was ABSOLUTELY NO CHANGE to my diet. I am extremely active, doing hard cardio workouts three to four times a week in addition to strength training. I cannot lose this weight no matter what I do.
Is there another reason such as thyroid which I have not had tested for ages. I have recenlty had more hair loss than normal and an itchy head, and I think I have felt the cold more. My friend K has hypo-thyroidism and is very knowledgeable and my Consultant agreed to test my Free T3, Free T4 and Serum TSH Thyroid Level.
Hey thanks for your message ye I'm worried about the side effects but hopefully I'll be ok with the gabapentin I was really bad but after a few weeks i was ok so i hopeing it will be the same.
Anyway, I agree with the others that if this works for your migraines or seizures and the only side effects are hair loss and/or (happily) weight loss, then it's a good trade. I don't think there's any medicine out there that is without any side effects. Good luck.
Hi, sorry for taking a long time to answer your post. Actually i do not remember if i searched the side effects of Lmictal on any site,,it is just i came across it in many forums and all of them agree that Lmictal affects short memory loss but not long memory Here are the links for these forums http://www.bipolarworld.net/Phelps/ph_2006/ph1419.htm http://bipolar.about.com/b/2003/06/29/does-lamictal-cause-memory-loss.htm http://www.depressionforums.

I too had some horrible side effects at first but the more my dosage went up the better the side effects got. the first week or so was the worst. It did nothing for my headaches and only intenseified my already annoying symptoms. My memory has been an issue for a while and the one bright side is that before Topomax my DH would get frustrated when he had to repeat himself because I didnt remember the conversation...and while on it he couldnt get frustrated with me. he he.
Either one is the standard used to treat TN. the only difference is Trileptal has a lower side effects profile. Neither take the pain completely away but will lessen it to a tolerable level. I have some relief with hot or cold compresses dependent on the day ,it varies. As for the soreness, I can feel it become sore BEFORE the pain and after the episode it remains sore and bruised feeling for a couple of days. Know that your are not alone in this miserable symptom and it 's pain.
Medicines I am on- Gabapentin for anxiety- Paxil for depression and recently ( as in last month) a medicine for possible IBS excess hair loss, for many years, not bald but I lose about a handful every day when I brush my hair ANY information would be soo greatly appreciatted, I am really at a loss as to what is wrong with me.
It still is very popular, so I say be brave and give it a try. You can stop if side effects are bad. Remember that. You are in control.
As much as I want to lose weight, the list of side effects for Topomax scares me. My current med, Effexor/Lithium has side effects such as weight gain, constipation, tremor, etc. While I hate being fat, blurry vision ans brain fog don't appeal to me either. Of course there are also the risks of diabetes and heart disease from being overweight too. I'm having a very hard time deciding about this. Any advice is welcome.
Here's what I was told. Excessive hair loss (about 1/2 my hair has fallen out) She said to try Biotin and a hair loss shampoo and that with winter coming everyone has hair loss. I have been trying both of these with no help. This is horrible and is really bothering me. What I call cold sweats. My skin is cold, but I am sweating. She said it could be menopause, but I didn't feel this way before. I wake up with a headache every morning. She say's it could be weather.
you should look at some of the other post on this forum about the hair loss ! the migraine loss and weight is great but the hair loss is not! good luck !
Our doc said this would be the easy part of treatment so husband scheduled a business trip next week. I know that several people have posted about the post-Incivek side effects, but don't know if anyone has had similar side effects, and wonder how long they lasted.
I believe refers to barbituates....not sure. Anyway, I wanted to tell you that hair loss is another side effect of Neurontin! So, that is why you lost some hair. I am a little worried about your heart jumping around...if you gained weight from the Neurontin, another side effect, once it comes off, hopefully your heart thing will stop.
The first few months I had lots of hair loss, which I found out from others is a fairly normal side effect and went away about the 4th month after starting. There is a Gilenya Support Group on Facebook if you want to check it out. You are welcome to ask questions even if you haven't started it yet. There are a lot of very helpful people in the group.
Meloxicam, Lexapro, Memantine, Reboxetine, Mersyndol Forte or Panalgesic, Thyroxin (deficicency est, head hair loss), B12 injections, Vit B1, Folic acid, Modafinil.
The scalp pain is very bothersome and I have had some hair loss, but it grows back. I was told and have read the scalp pain and hair loss is part of the fibromyalgia, is this true?
But that doesn't explain why he's so much colder than he used to be or the vision problems. Also, he's had hair loss that he's never had before. Again, I'm really concerned about the side effects of this drug and afraid of how it may hurt more than help. What do you think? Could this be something else that the MRI would not detect?
