Has anyone found a good way to combat the worst effects of Diarrhea? I eat only 2-3 oz food at a time and I take fiber tablet 1/2 hour before each meal. I can sort of deal with the gas/diarrhea - I just need to get rid of the urgency to go to the bath room. I travel for work so it is a big issue for me. My pharmacists did nto know of anything that could help.
Hi there, The most common side effects of Gabapentin are drowsiness, drowsiness and swelling of extremities. The latter effect is more common in elderly patients. Mood swings and problems in concentration are also seen. It does not have any effect on digestive tract as such; however, it should be used cautiously in patients with kidney disease. Also please remember that the side effects are not seen in everyone. Hope this helps!
Hi. I have only been on my gabapentin since march 1 and so far I am very happy with it. I take 300 mg twice a day. I am sleeping better than I have in years. I still have some pain, but it is much more manageable. My doc also put me on tramadol twice a day to go with the gabapentin, but I hated the way it made me feel. I have hypothyroidism in addition to the fibro so some of my pain could be attributed to that. I see my new endocrinologist for that tomorrow. Good luck with the gabapentin.

I looked up some information for you on Neurontin - Gabepentin. It does not list any stomach side-effects. It is most often used for people with pain from Neuropathy and used in persons with Multiple Scerlosis for muscle spasms, but the drug is also used in combination with other drugs for people that suffer from seizures. Hope you don't mind me stepping in like this and posting this information.
diarrhea for the last 7 days, including today leg cramps (not my normal ones) strange buzzing sensation in my face/head insomnia (way worse than usual) agitation-yelling at EVERYONE, including my poor child sneezing uncontrollably racing thoughts no appetite-not even for chocolate Nausea to the point of drooling Now, I've also been on Gabapentin 3 times a day, for the last few months, for peripheral nerve pain and the PM dr has tapered me down to 1x day on that and 1 50mg of Topamax, with eve
While Cymbalta did help manage both my depression and muscle pain, the side effects were what i hated about it. I never had digestion problems from it, but my stomach hurt constantly and my appetite disappeared. Eating became a chore and if i got distracted with school/work responsibilities, i would forget to eat, sometimes for 2 days. I also developed hyperhydrosis and always had a chemical/metalic taste in my mouth.
He's also extremely hungry and thirsty. I've read that all of these are possible phenobarbital side effects. How long do these usually last before the dog gets used to the medication? I'm hoping that these are not signs that something else is wrong, though I am aware of the possibilities.
My doc was opiates and I take Neurontin for my spinal stenosis. It took some time for my system to adjust to the side effects but I take it regularly and never crave it or take more than prescribed like I did with opiates. This is the difference for me. Tramadol didn't get me high but I kept popping them anyway to keep from getting dope sick from opiates so I concider this an addictive drug for me(the Trams) and will not use them.
I weaned off of Effexor because I haven't been able to have an orgasm in 4 months. Since weaning off the Effexor, other side effects seem much worse. No lesser evil to trade for, in my opinion. I think I need to get off of the morphine, but then I'm back to square one with the pain. Just wanted to get some feedback from others who have had these kinds of side effects. Light-headedness is also getting me way down. I thought these sides would all be gone by now.
Now my Doctor would like to put me on effexor, and I just don't know about taking an antideppressant when I'm not depressed, side effects seem so bad. My chiropractor has given me a naturopathy doctors card. He said that maybe I can start taking some vitamis that may help me. I am so tired of feeling this way I am willing to try it. I was having really bad chest pains last week, xray came back fine so that's why my family doc thinks it's panic attacks or anxiety.
There are other mood stabilizers, Valproic acid (Depakote) being the most common. It is not without side effects (e.g. nausea, diarrhea, sedation, and weight gain), but is often better tolerated than lithium. Other mood stabilizing agents include Carbamazepine (Tegretol), Lamotrigine (Lamictal), and Gabapentin (Neurontin), to name a few. I urge you to discuss your concerns further with your treating physician/psychiatrist.

Suzzie, Nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, constipation, ingestion, gas, and irritable bowel syndrome and all known and documented side effects from taking gabapentin. , and specific medications are effective in this type of pain. Neurontin is one such medication, and it has relatively few side effects but the side effects could include nausea, sedation, weight gain. Often after a few days on neurontin, the patient develops tolerance to the medication and stops experiencing side effects but the medication continues to be effective. Another way to deal with side effects is to slowly go up on the dose so that tolerance can gradually develop.

Although I only took Lyrica for a week, I had no side effects until I stopped - then severe stomach cramps and diarrhea (I know, sorry for the thought..). Neither drug made me feel loopy - it's just Neurontin is like taking a sugar pill for me - no pain relief at all! If I sound cranky in any of my posts today.. it's just from the pain. Levels are pretty high right now, even while resting. Good luck to you - give it a little time and hope it works for you. Please let us know if it does!!

Has anyone noticed any side effects or lack of effectiveness with the manufacturers they use. I saw a post on another site where a person thinks she may be getting diarrhea from the new baclofen that Express is using. It made me wonder about some things that have been going on with me. My feet and ankles have been swollen since last Wed. when I got my first order of Baclofen from them. They hurt! When I press my finger against my foot or ankle it leaves an impression for 2 or 3 minutes.
After researching all the side effects, I am going to try the Lyrica, so many people report agitation, anger, and similar reactions with the Cymbalta. I was on an antidepressant for over 34 years and it took me 6 months at LEAST to wean myself off, the side effects were affecting my well being, forget having a sex drive, and I wasn't even in a relationship. Every antidepressant has had THAT side affect on me. When I mentioned it to my Primary Physician...

Bananas have lots of potassium, and they don't worsen the withdrawal diarrhea. Sport drinks also have added electrolytes. I've noticed that some people take gabapentin (Neurontin) to ease the leg pain as well. And tell yourself frequently that these symptoms will diminish and then disappear in a relatively short time.
My doc put me on Neurontin for pain, I took 300mg a night for a few weeks with no side effects (my doc wants to work me up to 600mg). Then after taking it for a while I would get extremely dizzy and weak, have diarrhea, and feel like I was going to puke. This lasted for four weeks (as it took me a while to realize why I was sick). I lost over 15 pounds in that time.
