Common Questions and Answers about Gabapentin rls

neurontin

Avatar n tn What I forget to ask is what time of day/night it is best to take the Gabapentin capsules. My RLS is (was) bad in the evenings & through the night. Perhaps I need to be on these for a few days to get the full effects - I can't sleep tonight hence my searching the interweb for any help or advice.
Avatar m tn I have occasion, daily, where all my limbs, scalp, and main body has a stinging, burning feeling similar to when a Fire Ant bites. Doctor has ruled out RLS but does not know what it is. Prescribed Gabapentin and that seems to do the trick. However, would like to know what it is specifically, so what Doctor Practice should I contact - and possibility of addiction to Gabapentin?
Avatar f tn second day without the pain pills! But the doctor today gave me gabapentin for pain is it addictive? I dont need another addiction.
Avatar n tn Im seriously trying to get through this, can anyone tell me approx. how long their RLS lasted? And your opinion on starting the Gabapentin at the stage Im at?
Avatar n tn I recently started taking methadone for my RLS. My RLS was extremely severe - to the point where I was only able to sleep a couple hours a night, unable to sleep in a bed (I've had to sleep on the floor for about the last 5 years), I would punch my legs to make them go numb, spend most of the night walking around my living room, and spent much of my time in a lot of pain. Methadone has been extremely helpful so far. I am sleeping at night and my legs rarely bother me.
Avatar f tn besides not being able to sleep mostly due to RLS, RLS is the worst lol I guess the two go hand in hand really. I have heard gabapentin helps as well. I get it so bad now that even get restless arms O.o It blows hard core, but it will all be over before you know it, and you are handling it right by finding alternative means to sooth the RLS and not opiates. Great share ty.
464044 tn?1343702043 I read online that gabapentin is good for opiate w/d and rls. Has anyone taken this and does it also have w/d's? Im asking because my ex said that it would help, and I wanna use it if it works. On the other hand, Im already on day 3, and I dont want it to set me back. I'd really appreciate any advice from anyone who has used it.
Avatar f tn Gabapentin is a good drug for some things, and not for others. General side affects are things like headaches, stomach pain, dizziness, dry mouth, sleepiness---the normal things that can happen when you go on any drug. Most of the time, gabapentin doesn't have extreme ill affects on anyone unless you skip a dose. I do know of people who say the drug can be addicted in high doses. Considering that you're just starting the medication, I wouldn't guess you'll be on a high dose.
5288248 tn?1370878523 Potassium is supposed to help the RLS..They also sell it in the stores called RLS..The Magnesium is the best for detoxing the poisons out and is one that helps balance the brain back!! Keep up the good work..I know you can do it..Stay close to any support you can get!! They also have this powder called "CALM" it helps with it all!!
Avatar f tn I find it to be really helpful. Most of my withdrawals symptoms are shaking, RLS, and the feeling of needing to get out of my skin. The neurontin has stopped that and has even let me sleep. I was wondering if anyone knows more about this medication. I did some reading on it but someone told me that it can cause changes in personality. I asked to pharmacist and he told me that it might cause some mood changes. I haven't experienced this yet, but how would I know?
Avatar f tn I HAVE RLS FOR MANY YEARS AND I AM ON 3MG REQUIP AND 1 MG KLONPIN, THAT HAS BEEN HELPING UP TO NOW. I DISCOVERED THAT MY THYROID IS VERY LOW. COULD THAT BE WHY MY RLS IS GETTING WORSE. I REALLY NEED SOME SLEEP!!! WHAT OTHER MEDS ARE HELPFUL. I REALLY HAVE ALOT OF PAIN IN MY LEGS ALSO. THANKS FOR AMY HELP.
Avatar f tn I was doing a google search to see what I can do about these creepy crawly feelings in my limbs. I saw that gabapentin (generic for Neurontin) reduces this feeling. I have this drug at home and if this is true I can stop my Norcos tapering right now. Does anyone out there have success with gabapentin?
Avatar f tn I am taking gabapentin which works for my legs, but not my arms. The leg movements can be voluntary, but the arm movements are not. A few weeks ago, my head turned to the right, both arms stiffened & straightened, then I experienced a painful jolt. All of my muscles were contracted. Next thing I know I am out. When I woke up the next morning, I was off balance and my coordination was off. My right leg and arm were affected. A few weeks later while on medicine both arms tremored.
Avatar f tn Today is day 5 since I decided to stop taking my meds. I've done ok. I have no desire to take the meds I still have. My question is last night I experienced what I believe was RLS. Can't really describe the odd feeling in my legs, but it was like it would build up until I had to move. I thought it was the result of taking the Gabapentin I was prescribed to help with WD's, but now I've seen that med is used to treat it.
Avatar f tn I am going through the same bout myself with a recent increase of rls during night and day. I went through iron tests which may be something that can cause rls. My tests came back normal so the doc is increasing my ropinerol (also a Parkinson's med) I was at .5mg and will be going up to .75 mg. I only take it 1-2 hours before bedtime. For pain during the day vicodin is my lifesaver.
Avatar f tn Good for you...anything that helps is great. I currently take gabapentin 4 times per day (300mg) and I use Dilaudid daily. When I run out before I pick up my next script I find that Gabapentin really helps with the restless legs, sleep etc. It is almost like a universal drug. I heard that Gabapentin used to be used for Opiate withdrawl but I can't remenber where I heard that from. WEhat have you headr about Gabapentin and it's uses?
Avatar f tn You might want to try Magnesium and Vit D to help with the RLS and to sleep! the Mag with help with the RLS and the vit D will help you sleep it produces melitonin for sleep. Works great for me!
Avatar m tn I posted here because I am hoping I can find people with similar problems who might be able to help. I know that rls is a withdrawl symptom of tramadol. It also can relieve rls symptoms.
Avatar n tn Hi - my neurologist has recently put me on 2400 mg of Gabapentin per day for severe RLS, along with the .5 mg Mirapex and .5 mg Clonazepam I am already on. I also had a double bypass about 1 1/2 years ago and am on a lot of different heart meds. For the past two days I have been experiencing numbness in my left arm and hand. I called my pharmiscist just now and he says it is a side effect to the Gabapentin but I should get use to it in a few days. I worry because it is my left arm.
Avatar f tn The gabapentin has been helping tremendously(yes I was prescribed it before but never took it). I'm still exhausted, no energy, and loose stools(can't take immodium, it makes me sick) and slight RLS. Well my whole body lol. Will it really get worse on day 3 and 4?? I was taking 7-8 and cut down to 4 in a week then took my last half 40 hours ago. Or is this the worst part?
Avatar n tn Hi! I am thinking you are talking about neurontin/gabapentin? It helps RLS during WDs I think. I took it once, and it did seem to help it a little. Clonidine, a BP med, helps a lot too. Both have to be given by a doctor, and you have to be careful with both meds. Clonidine can lower the BP too much!
Avatar n tn I actually slept through for two nights in a row. The drugs name is Gabapentin. It makes you sleepy so it is taken at bed time. They have me on 300mg capsules and I take 1-2 at bedtime. My cat was finally able to lay on my upper leg last night and I didn't have to throw her off. So I would suggest this medication. I don't know what other medications your on so be sure to check for interactions with this drug with the others you may be taken.
Avatar m tn Can someone tell me what Gabapentin or tizanidine is? What its used for and will it help with suboxone withdrawals? Any info would help. Thanks.
Avatar n tn Some people here have used hylands restful legs caplets and it helped with the RLS. Like Sophie said, hot hot baths are good too.
