Avatar f tn Hi has anyone been on gabapentin or heard of it before? I have had 3 discectomies on L4/L5 disc and now have tissue scarring leaving me with the same as before all my surgeries. I have been prescribed gabapentin this week for nerve damage in that area of my back. I am in first week on it and taking 600mg per day.
Avatar f tn I had a migraine new to me about a month ago went to a neurologist he prescribed meythpredislone 21 pack and after that was completed he prescribed neurotin gabapentin which I am very afraid of taken but I started taken 1 before I go to bed. Why did the neurologist prescribed that if it was just for headaches?
Avatar f tn I have been taking Gabapentin 100 mg for a couple of days and have had severe migraine slash sinus headache ever since. What does be from the medicine?
Avatar m tn Some types of migraines can present like this, not much fun, but could even be a migraine, do you get any other symptoms with this electrical charge, mine feel like bolts of lighting shooting through my head, they are painful like touching an electric fence, I take both migraine meds and another drug called Gabapentin which is an anticonvulsant that is used to treat epilepsy, but they have found this medicine to be helpful for people with MS that are experiencing neuropathic pain.
1807779 tn?1333840302 I take fiorcet whenever I have a bad headache. It works well for me.
734343 tn?1239601741 For a long time I thought that I had low blood sugar that would trigger the migraine, but now it seems more like an early symptom of the migraine, not the other way around. It's so weird, and fattening too!
Avatar n tn Why were you taking it? For your heart or for migraine? If you were taking it for your heart it could increase your risk for angina or heart attack. you might need to try a different heart med.
Avatar f tn Hi Guys, Well I decided to go to my GP today because all my symptoms are getting to me! And I felt so confused! I am not sure if I am any less confused but I do feel happier for off loading my burden and my GP doesn't think I am crazy so this has made me feel better too. My Dr said migraines usually cause some numbness, pins and needles before the headache but not like what I am experiencing, so he does not think my stuff is from the migraines but probably from the TM!
Avatar f tn m currently at day 6 of detoxing from a 1 year/15-20 pills a day hydrocodone habit. I have the help of a doctor and am on a whole slew of meds (buprenorphine, gabapentin, phenobarbital, and roboxin). The last 2 days I've woken up with terrible headaches! Yesterday it turned into a migraine (puking, blurred vision..the whole 9!). My doctor switched my buprenorphine to Suboxone on Monday. But when I got the migraine he switched it back, thinking that's what caused it.

Avatar f tn Two weeks ago on my way to take my kids to the park I was suddenly hit with a horrible pain in my head. It got worse and worse. My hands/face/feet and legs started tingling. I went to the er and they treated me for a migraine. Two days later it wasn't any better so I went back, in these two days I began having awful lower back pain. They again treated me for a migraine and sent me home. I got an appointment at a clinic. They tested my thyroid and vitamin b12.
337492 tn?1212458836 I also take 500mg of magnesium for my headaches but I space it out so that it will not conflict with the neurontin. I had the strangest migraine last night and my aura was different and I have not suffered a headache for several months, last time being caused by Lamictil. I found out the reason why there, was Lamictil messes with the metabolization of birth control pills, hence messing with my hormone levels which equals a migraine.
Avatar f tn Funny you mention eye twitching mine just started last Wednesday. I can't decide if it is migraine or MS. I have migraine symptoms where I lose vision until my headache medicine kicks in but the twitching is new. I am having bad headache from allergies and stress. It started on the way to my brother's for Thanksgiving. I had a friend who could not be with family on Thanksgiving because of a root canal and I envied her. LOL. I have patched it at night and it feels better.
1476727 tn?1287216539 Dear Naomi, I am a little concerned about the diagnoses you have been given, specifically "spinal migraines" and "discitis." Normally spinal migraines happen for a short period of time following a lumbar puncture. Discitis is something children have and is caused by an infection to the affected spinal region.
Avatar n tn I took my first migraine 4 months ago and it has still not left me. I have had a headache daily since then, combined with light-headedness, sore neck, heat behind left eye and strange tingling sensations. I have noticed since the migraine strated that i have been more aware of my irregular heartbeat. I get palpatations and can hear my heart skip a beat in my head. I wouldnt be atall surprised if an irregular heartbeat is linked to migraine.
Avatar f tn Hi Steph. The 30-minute episodes of blurry vision could possibly be migraine. The length of time sounds very typical for migraine. You don't have to have a headache for it to be a migraine event. I've had three purely ocular migraines. Good luck in talking with your neuro. I too am not diagnosed and sympathize with your uncertainty. Sorry about your jaw; that sounds uncomfortable!
Avatar f tn We have tried injections of lidocaine, steroids, steroid drops, oral steriods, indocin, and gabapentin; none of which have helped. The pain is NOT a migraine. I am NOT having sinus issues or The doctor I am currently seeing is at Barnes Jewish Hospital's Center for Advanced Medicine. We are quickly running out of options and doctors in the St. Louis area and the doctors are at a loss.
Avatar f tn I was perscribed Gabapentin which is generic for Lyrica, I believe. I was perscribed this prior to my diagnosis and my insurance just approved it. Does this medication help w/the pain or what? I have never taken this before and don't know exactly what it is for. The doctor who prescribed it gave it to me months ago but my insurance said they didn't cover it so I just forgot about it and then I got the diagnosis and didn't think much of it after that.
Avatar m tn He claims that it is definitive for clarifying whether the root cause of my problems are due to migraine. He admits that not all of my symptoms seem migrainous, but most do. Note that my bad headache symptoms are basically gone, perhaps this is due to the Gabapentin I am taking. Since my health is not improving, I feel like I should try something else (e.g., this DHE study or antibiotics in the event that I do have a bacterial infection).
Avatar m tn It may be a hemiplegic migraine. I suffer from these, and can have pins and needles, numbness on the right side of my face, round my mouth, arm and leg weakness on occasion and sometimes struggle to get words out. Sometimes with and sometimes without a headache.

Avatar f tn Neurontin, a.k.a. gabapentin, has been a Godsend in fighting my eye pain, but I haven't noticed a correlation with the weird visual field stuff -- which happens to be very much like you described here. As to urgency, none of the docs I've seen in 4+ years seem excited about it. Comes & goes.
Avatar f tn The pain is situated on the left side behind my eye and aund my temple. I have seen a neurologist who has diagnosed chronic migraine. I have tried anti depressants, NSAIDs, beta blockers and am now on anti epileptics all of which have not helped. My current dose of gabapentin is 900mg.
Avatar f tn I have been on migraine preventatives, gabapentin, morphine, blood pressure meds, anti-anxiety medication, amitryptiline, Thorazine, steroids, you name it I have taken it. I have also had MRI's, CT scans, sinus surgery, lumbar punctures (5) and blood work multiple times. I have seen 3 neurologists, a headache specialist, acupuncture, massage therapy, chiropractic.... EVERYTHING! The only thing anyone can tell me is I have Chronic Migraines.
Avatar m tn I am now taking hydrochlorothiazide (both for moderate hight blood pressure and to lower my water levels for the inner ear), and gabapentin for a neck spine condition (unrelated to the vertigo). My PCM states I am "suspect" for Minear's Syndrome but has not made a clinical diagnosis as of yet. Bottom line is I am trying to find a way back to normal. My work requires me to get up into high places (aircraft mechanic) and this condition is keeping me from my work.
453029 tn?1205951419 The very fact that you are receiving Gabapentin (Neurontin) proves that your neurologist does not think you have absence seizures. Neurontin and other GABA potentiating drugs exacerbate absence seizures. The visual phenomena that you have been experiencing could be migraine related or they could be related to retinal detachment. Please consult your ophthalmologist.
Avatar f tn to treatments: Propranalol (Inderal; for tremor reduction and/or migraine prevention) Celexa (antidepressant) to events: busy day (or some other brief phrase about overdoing things) Thank you.
Avatar f tn Other causes being cellulites, migraine, dermatitis, fungal infections etc. Treatment depends upon diagnosis; neuralgia is treated with drugs like gabapentin etc whereas for fungal or other infections antibiotics are prescribed.
