In these cases, double vision, slurred speech, drowsiness, lethargy, and diarrhea, were observed. All patients recovered with supportive care.

I'm really hoping that someone can tell me that missing one dose of Gabapentin is enough to set off mad itching!! I forgot to take a midday dose of 600 mg (because I was too busy Christmas shopping lol) and didn't remember until the next dose was due five hours later. Now I'm itching like crazy. Please don't let it be another relapse!!

The other day, I went to a Christmas party and left the gabapentin at home, so I missed a dose. I got a horrible stomach ache that night and was miserable. The next day, I took the medicine, and the stomach aches are gone. i also have gotten weird vision problems when I accidentally miss a dose. The little packet that came with my medicine said there can be vision changes and GI problems if you stop taking the medicine completely without medical advice.

Gabapentin and Lyrica are in the same class of anti-convulsants and have similar actions. However their side-effect profiles may differ somewhat. If you are finding that the side-effects with gabapentin are tolerable then it would probably be best to increase the dose under doctor's advice. There is a long way upwards that you may go with the dose before reaching the upper limit, as Jason80 points out.

It was explained to me that the highest dose that had an effect on neurological pain was 1800mg a day a higher dose may be used for epilesy but was not effective on neurological pain. Has anyone found pregabalin (which I believe is also known as Lyrica) to be more effective than Gabapentin?

Has anyone ever been put on gabapentin for severe anxiety/panic disorder? My doctor just prescribed it for me to help ween me off xanax that I've been on for 7 years. Was wondering if this has ever helped anyone?

It sounded like, from your post that you started at too high of dose, it is one to ease into if higher dose is neccassary, then ease back down.

When I first starting taking gabapentin the dose was 400mg each night. I was supposed to add a morning dose the second week and then an afternoon dose in the third week. I was getting relief with the 400mg bedtime dose alone but it made me so sleepy that I didn't dare take it during the day. My GP suggested I stick with the once daily dosing for a while. She told me that many of her patients never have to add daytime doses to get adequate pain control.

However, Italian researchers have found that the LD50 (the lethal dose at which half of the animals die) of glucosamine sulfate is 8000 mg/kg. In humans this would be equivalent to ingesting over 500,000 mg at one time or 1,000 pills each containing 500 mg. I hope this is useful... I like to know as much as I can about my meds. I know the lethal dose of lithium is about 5gs or 5000mgs which is about 5 times what I am prescribed. I also have looked up the symptoms of lithium toxicity (not fun). But I can't seem to fine anywhere how long after a lethal amount or a small overdose (such as 1 accidental extra dose) on top of toxicity symptoms would start to show or when death would take place. So my question is when would symptoms begin to show and when would death occur.

However the gabapentin has not seemed to help my hand, as this pain continues despite titrating to such a high dose. I recently started on amitriptyline for my neuropathic pain, am up to 50mg per day, and I think it is helping. The stabbing and burning sensations are lessened, although the numbness and incoordination remain. Because I seem to be responding better to this latter drug, I am now slowly weaning off the gabapentin.

my husband took 30 xanax and 1200mg of gabapentin not too long ago. He also take other pshyc meds. I wanted him to go to the hospital but he wouldnt go and threatened to leave and go walk somewhere. Hi, Corina- I used to be on Gabapentin. 200 mg a day is a very low dose. In my opinion, it is coincidence that you started feeling vibrations at the time you began taking the Gabapentin. Yes, you can get vibrations regardless of your meds. I get the vibrations. They are weird, that is for sure! I have heard some people that get them, get painful ones. Mine don't hurt.

Hi, sorry you are feeling bad. When you were in the hospital did they tell you that you have cirrhosis from alcohol? it sure sounds like you still have something going on with your liver, especially if your belly is swelling again. Do yourself a favor and be seen by a "Hepatologist" (liver specialist) as soon as possible.

s the only thing to calm the tingling and and pulsating. I find that Lyrica has a lot of side effects so I take gabapentin as my morning dose and Lyrica as my evening dose, simply to not endure the side effects. Hope this helps.

I have been on gabapentin for 2 months, It helps somewhat with pain, it helped me to sleep very sound, until this week, I can't seem to get to sleep and awake alot during the night.

Went to a new doctor today and he seems to feel the vicodene is no longer working so he had prescribed me gabapentin-100 mgs. three times a day. My concern now is withdrawing from the vocoden. doctor has suggested that I taper down to half a pill a week (of the vicodene). Of course I did not tell him how much I was taking of the vicodene.In searching this forum I have read different opions on the gabaperntin.

For those of you who take Gabapentin (Neurontin): Just curious what side effects you have experienced (and at what dosage), and how long they lasted? I just started this last weekend, 300mg once a day at bedtime. I am having a really hard time waking up in the morning and for the first half of the day I feel a little "loopy" or my head feels "swimmy"....if that makes any sense.....

I had an episode of burning on my forhead and cheeks and pins and needle feelings in which I started Gabapentin for. Over a 4 week period I gradually increased the dosage to what I am on now, 300mg three times daily. This seems to help greatly with the nerve pain but I started after 2 weeks to develop a very itchy neck, ear lobe, and face. My face sometimes looked like it was burned. Im just wondering if anyone has had this while taking Gabapentin.

I tapered down to only 300mg and my GP now says I can come off them over the next 6 weeks if I want to but she felt that a constant low dose was better than taking a high dose for a shorter time as it may provide a sort of damping effect on the pain. She wants me to keep a diary of I decide to come off them as that will help to see if this small amount is helping.

Gabapentin is an anti-seizure drug (originally) but is prescribed for nerve damage/nerve pain, too. I was one of those that knew NOTHING about subutex/suboxone going on it OR coming off it. I was on gabapentin at the time. I jumped off at a ridiculously high dose. I was on subutex for 7 days and suboxone for 21 days.....I REALLY did not like the psyc dr that prescribed them to me in the first place. Point being, when I did that....
