gabapentin leg cramps

I have had the same symptoms and for the past two weeks they at first were trying to rule out MS but now they are trying to confirm a diagnosis. Two days ago because of the pins and needles and restless leg syndrome they gave me a prescription for these symptoms and to me it is a miracle drug. I actually slept through for two nights in a row. The drugs name is Gabapentin. It makes you sleepy so it is taken at bed time. They have me on 300mg capsules and I take 1-2 at bedtime.

I have a constant pain normally in my right leg. it burns / radiates / cramps / aches down to my ankle. My right buttock hurts constantly. I have shooting pains and cramp in my right hip. When my leg gives me a bit of peace I have back ache, to the right of lumbar area and spine. my spine pops and clicks.

I have received Epidural steroid injections and am having chronic leg cramps. At first the doctor said it was a rare side effect now after my third injection he is not sure. This is affecting both legs and is all night long. I take 1200 mg of gabapentin at bed time, one benadryl and two leg leg cramp with quinine and it is still unbareable any suggestions?

Then pm dr lowered percocet and gabapentin dosages to less than half of what I had been on for 3 months..there went the withdrawal again...the leg cramps in left leg(nerve damage from spinal cyst has left me with no feeling in left leg,but have restless leg,stabbing hot pain in my left foot) all started 10fold..pm dr then upped gabapentin back to original post op dose and fentanyl 25 mcg every 3 days. I am thinking I am going to be in hell withdrawing.

I would like to know; I just starting having bad leg and foot cramps a couple of days ago. I have not been diagnosed with anything; do have a bulging disk L5-S1 area. Someone said I need Potassium and more water.

Has anyone tried it from the start, and how did it work. Does the sleep recipe she gave work well for others? How about the leg cramps during the diet?

I had my Dr. PX Soma for leg cramps and something to help you sleep. Talk to your Dr. today if you have only been off methadone 1 day. Days 2-5 are hell. Do you have someone helping you? How long were you on Methadone? and how many mgs? I MAKING IT AN SO WILL YOU! ASK ME ANY ?

The Gabapentin was given to me by my ENT doctor to help with vocal cord and coughing issues (maybe due to Lymes). My Neurologist also wanted me on Gabapentin for leg pain and leg restlessness (Peripheral Neuropathy-maybe due to Lymes) at night. My dosage keeps getting higher. But I still feel about the same. Pain in the back of my calf muscles, back of knees, both sides of knee and left lower back pain. Seems like the doctors are guessing. I have also be on Vicodin and Naproxen for pain.

I have been on gabapentin for a while now. 900 mg 4 x day. I have not had any twitching from it. I used to have the twitching before I started the med. Everyone reacts differently, so I would suggest checking out the side effects you can find a more comprehensive list on line. Check out the manufacturer web site.

i drink it at night i have a heated water bed and a heated mattress pad heat makes my legs worse but my bones better so i use muscle massage chiropractic soma 350 mg at night i have mps myofacail pain syndrome so i have a tens machine i hook up on the muscle knotts, vit c b and vit E is helpful i drink glacer ice water with vitamins , i use biofreeze and absorbin jr on my spasms hope something i offer can help, now i found certain shoes makes my leg cramps worse are you a leg crosser?

I have a protrueding disk on L4 and 5. left leg pain down the back of my leg my calf pain is very bad down to my numbing toes my DR.

This started all at once, in all extremities at once. I do have some muscles cramps in the arch of my feet and the calf of the leg that had the hip replacement. Not often. Blood work normal for Thyroid TSH 1.4, Vitamin K & calcium, not anemic. I went to a Neurologist who ordered a Brain MRI with and without contrast. The MRI was negative or normal. He told me it was Carpal Tunnel and to do stretching. Not returning to him. I now have painful pins and needles everywhere.

I had triple bypass 4 yrs ago and started having leg cramps in the leg where they removed my vein. No meds helped but now I keep pkgs of mustard from fast food restaurants in my purse at all times. It works!!!

I have tried Gabapentin, and I am currently taking Lyrica, which is a relative of Gabapentin. It does help a little, but not enough to enable me to sit down longer.

I was wondering...this afternoon, my left leg which has been giving me pain for months now...all the sudden...the pain was gone...and I felt like it was apart of my body again... I walked around the house abit and felt really good...I actually started to think...maybe this is all in my mind...(my MS specialist appt is next Friday)... but by 4:00 in the afternoon, the pain started up again...and the numbness... it's back...

About 6 months ago, almost nightly I began having recurring painful feet, or leg cramps, for which my doctor prescribed 100 MG of Gabapentin daily at bedtime. It hasn't helped and also, the warning sheet for side effects was scary. When I got my annual bloodwork done in May, my FREE T4 was high at 1.21. My doctor lowered my Synthroid dosage from 75 to 50 MCG.

Hi everyone, I'm having a difficult time with my legs... I get these horrible pains in my thighs...usually it was my left leg only, now it's both legs. When I get up in the morning, it's not bad, but as the day progresses and with the small amount of walking I do at home the pain starts up.. It's really hard to explain it....it's in patches, comes and goes, burning feeling, achy too...it moves around to different areas of my legs..

In the last 2 months i have had shingles 4 times -- now I am getting painful leg and feet cramps especially at night. Exactly as you are described. Excrutiating pain, wondering if anyone else has this with their shingles. And who do you see? I went to a pain management doctor yesterday who gave me lyrica and basically blew me off. Funny -- I go to the ER and they give me more sympathy and understanding than the PM doctor.

I am on 900mg/day of Tegretol and 900mg/day of Gabapentin. I just started the Gabapentin a few weeks ago and the side effects are not nice. I have also found out yesterday that my dosage will probably have to be raised as I had the usual pain last night about two hours after taking my evening dose. Can I take Tramodol with Effexor XR, Clonazepam, Trazadone, Lunesta, Gabapentin, Hydroxyzine. I am on all these medications for clinical depression and panic/anxiety disorder. But now I was recommended to take Tramodol for pain. Will there be a bad interaction with the drugs I just named? I would like to know each drug I have listed seperately and it's interaction with tramodol. Example....Can I take Effexor XR with Tramodol? Can I take Clonazepam with Tramodol?? Etc. ect.

I've been to the neurologist, who was no help. Lesion on brainstem still active, other lesions not active. Probably had ON a year and a half ago and probably have had 5 attacks in the last year and a half, so you have MS but can't get a diagnosis cause no new lesions. So... he tells me we'll start Coxpone (sp? I'm too tired to look it up) when the nurse calls me in about 2 months.

Doctor has ruled out RLS but does not know what it is. Prescribed Gabapentin and that seems to do the trick. However, would like to know what it is specifically, so what Doctor Practice should I contact - and possibility of addiction to Gabapentin?

spasms in leg come and go. tiredness of left leg begoming an issue and gait is evvected. At times the pain in my heel & calf is unbearable....I can hardly walk some days. I see my neurologist in June. Is the heel pain associated with my MS? Reasonable to get back to my neurologist earlierthan June? Thanks for your reply.

Today it feels like my left leg is on fire or at least that's the general way to put it. it hurts from my hip to my toes but walking makes it worse. it feels hotter than the other one like it may have fever? but i think my nerves are just hypersensitive/pissed off I don't think I actually have fever.. I knelt down earlier at it was almost like someone was cutting off my kneecap. where ever pressure is applied it goes crazy.
