Avatar n tn Why were you taking it? For your heart or for migraine? If you were taking it for your heart it could increase your risk for angina or heart attack. you might need to try a different heart med.
Avatar f tn Two weeks ago on my way to take my kids to the park I was suddenly hit with a horrible pain in my head. It got worse and worse. My hands/face/feet and legs started tingling. I went to the er and they treated me for a migraine. Two days later it wasn't any better so I went back, in these two days I began having awful lower back pain. They again treated me for a migraine and sent me home. I got an appointment at a clinic. They tested my thyroid and vitamin b12.
337492 tn?1212458836 I also take 500mg of magnesium for my headaches but I space it out so that it will not conflict with the neurontin. I had the strangest migraine last night and my aura was different and I have not suffered a headache for several months, last time being caused by Lamictil. I found out the reason why there, was Lamictil messes with the metabolization of birth control pills, hence messing with my hormone levels which equals a migraine.
Avatar f tn Udkas, my dear - I have never heard of migraine causing twitching or being prevoked by heat. I, too, have had serious eye pain and twitching, numbness in the face (but I'm fine....). Migraine was dismissed for me because none of the migraine meds worked. Thankfully, I have not yet lost my vision, but some how I always expect it with the severe pain in my eye. I don't have an answer, but I certainly can sympethize!
Avatar f tn Call the doctor who gave you the gabapentin. Check to see if the symptoms you are having are listed as side effects of the gaba.
1476727 tn?1287216539 Hi. I have fibromyalgia and osteo-arthritis. I have a great deal of pain in my spine due to discitis, and swelling at the top of the spine also, with a huge amount of pain up my neck into my head and shoulders. Every now and again I get spinal migraines which cripple me for a couple of days. I manage a children's centre, which is hard work, but I love it. Every day I am in a lot of pain, and many days I am feeling clammy and weak and I keep pushing the barrier.
Avatar f tn m currently at day 6 of detoxing from a 1 year/15-20 pills a day hydrocodone habit. I have the help of a doctor and am on a whole slew of meds (buprenorphine, gabapentin, phenobarbital, and roboxin). The last 2 days I've woken up with terrible headaches! Yesterday it turned into a migraine (puking, blurred vision..the whole 9!). My doctor switched my buprenorphine to Suboxone on Monday. But when I got the migraine he switched it back, thinking that's what caused it.
Avatar n tn In using the term "Migraine" we're covering a broad range of diagnoses...however where you are speaking of the classis vasospastic migraine wherein the veins and arteries dialate and then spasm shut....yes I am 100% convinced (personal opinion) that the coronary-vascular systems in our bodies do not differentiate between vessels. In other words for some one who is suffering vaso-spasm related desease....
Avatar f tn s aura is exactly like mine), light and/or sound sensitivity, headache on one side or centered in the front, etc. Migraine attacks can also involve dizziness, numbness in the face or an arm or leg, difficulty understanding speech, difficulty speaking, etc. I think they diagnose migraine a lot because they've found that many headaches previously "diagnosed" (by doctor or patient) as sinus headaches are actually migraines.
Avatar f tn I have taken Gabapentin before for pain and found it about as useless as a screen door in a submarine. Yeah I know the "top doctors" prescribe it. They also used to prescribe blood-letting. In addition it seems to lower a persons IQ by about forty points (I know...that's a figure of speech), cause loss of memory, headaches, and loss of libido. I think there are many alternatives to be considered before using Gabapentin, such as a frontal lobotomy.
Avatar m tn I get bad migraines which take out my left side and vision in my left eye. The way I know they are migraines is they clear up once the migraine medications kick in. I had one so bad two weeks ago I threw up for seven hours. I laid on the bathroom floor barely able to rise to the toilet. The cold dry air is messing me up bad. I have a vaporizer, I am washing my sinuses with saline to bring down the swelling and putting vaseline in nose.
Avatar m tn Genetic testing can identify whether he has the typical genetic defects now associated with hemiplegic migraine that can also run in families. Treatment for this condition may include both preventive and acute medications prescribed by a doctor. Take care and do keep us posted.
678635 tn?1226654874 Since June 2008 I have been having episodes of numbness in my face, slurred speech, loss of words, confusion, numbness in my right arm, inability to control or use my arm but can feel it, same with my right leg, unable to walk and control my right leg. Not all symptoms always present at the same time, sometimes just the speech, sometimes just the leg or arm. These episodes last anywhere from 15 minutes to longest 1 1/2 hours.
Avatar f tn Neurontin, a.k.a. gabapentin, has been a Godsend in fighting my eye pain, but I haven't noticed a correlation with the weird visual field stuff -- which happens to be very much like you described here. As to urgency, none of the docs I've seen in 4+ years seem excited about it. Comes & goes.
Avatar n tn I have this sharp shooting pain in the back of my head its in the lower part of my head and it shoots pain every few seconds up the right side of my head kinda toward my temple. the base of my head is sore to touch. is this somthing i shoul be conserned about. the inly way i can sleep is take tyl. pm. please give me some feed back thank you.
Avatar f tn Firstly I have a degree of astigmatism which I have never had diagnosed. Also she said my glasses were - -5.25 in the right eye and -4.5 in the left!!!! She feels they are too strong. As you know I believed my px was a lot lower than this and my contact lenses are actually -3.75 and - 4.25 (completely different to my glasses). I asked my normal opticians and they have said my px is -3.75 and -4.25 so either my glasses have been made wrong or my contact lenses are wrong.
Avatar f tn I have been on migraine preventatives, gabapentin, morphine, blood pressure meds, anti-anxiety medication, amitryptiline, Thorazine, steroids, you name it I have taken it. I have also had MRI's, CT scans, sinus surgery, lumbar punctures (5) and blood work multiple times. I have seen 3 neurologists, a headache specialist, acupuncture, massage therapy, chiropractic.... EVERYTHING! The only thing anyone can tell me is I have Chronic Migraines.
Avatar n tn t get back to sleep. As I laid awake, I started to feel a bit of weakness (and very, very slight tingling) in the fingers on my right hand and my toes on my left foot. It has been almost two-and-a-half hours since these symptoms started, and while I was hoping it was temporary, the bit of weakness is still there (typing feels a little odd). In fact, now I think that my face might still be a little tingly again as well (though not the same "asleep" feeling).
